In this video, I turn a simple dish from a figured bit of a platter blank I spotted while cutting it down because of a split. The wood is a 8/4” figured Black Walnut blank with a stunning, but subtle figure that makes it flash in the light. I finish it with Mahoney’s Walnut Oil (first time if you can believe that. I can’t!) and I also try out a new buffing wheel (thank you Tanya) to polish the bowl with Ack’s Polish/Restoring Paste Wax to a soft luster a few days after the oil dried. Absolutely no complaints turning this piece of walnut. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it.
