hello friends greetings healthy and successful always. thank you for sharing knowledge and always faithfully watching your latest things you are great fun people👍
Thanks Leo! Typically I turned 10-12 more with the skew and no spirals! The Bedan surprised me. I suspect the finish is down to what amounts to a really big bevel to ride on! Thanks for watching, Dave
Thanks Tim! I was annoyed with myself but it happens. Most of the eggs in the bowl at the end were turned with a skew and no catches. Turn the camera on and it all went to pot! The Bedan is a really interesting tool though.
Well, it was the first time I used the Bedan in anger. I'm basing my use on one of Brian Haven's old videos on using Bedans and he said it should be used that way! He also said continental Bedans are used the other way round and made from square stock. I should probably do some more research! It works well for cutting tenons and I guess works a bit like a diamond parting tool as only a small part of the side is in contact with the wood. I have a gauge that fits on it for sizing tenons (I guess)
I appreciated this demo very much! I have been wanting to try the bedan and liked the tool closeups throughout the video. Using oak was a good test too! Thank you for your time to make this! and very nice work!
Thanks very much for watching and commenting. I have to confess I went back to watch some other videos to make sure I was using the Bedan as intended. I think I am but I think it works either way. Brian Haven has a good video on their use.
