I think the reason Nero took "dead weight" so personally is cuz he's always so unsure of himself. He's always mad about himself for not having enough strength. So Dante reaffirmed his doubt.
Between: - Being unable to save Credo (who was like a older brother to him) - Getting a boost from Yamato and being allowed to hold on to it by Dante (who shown interest in it but also trusted him to keep it safe) - Lossing the Yamato years later in the blink of an eye, along with a big chunk of his power (DT) - Being indirectly responsible for releasing the Big Bad and causing Dante, Trish and Lady to go MIA for a Month after the first Urizen fight Its really not suprising that hes taking it this hard.
If I had to make a guess, I'd say that it was Mundus using the Qliphoth to gain godlike power in the first place that "woke Sparda up to justice". Seeing countless lives sacrificed to make a *single* magic gooey apple would _really_ make you think.
it would also make sense if it didn't happen immediately, giving mundus time to earn his position as the king of hell, since sparda would probably be thinking it over and building his strength.
*Sparda sits in the Thinking Man pose atop Qliphoth, watching as the demonic tree turns a city of humans into dry husks* "hey... Wait a minute! I think my boss might be an asshole!"
@@LeafseasonMagbag You laugh, but empathy for another living creature is considered to be a strictly human quality in this franchise. Sparda was the FIRST demon to recognize such tenderness.
The Mundus Retcon in this game makes Pat's villain observation in the DMC4 playthrough stronger. Remember when he said all the villains of DMC were people who stole their power, well now Mundus himself is retroactively in that category because he stole his power with the tree. It's the f**king best.
Dude after mission 16 SoS gets fucking crazy. I love how this game kicks my boss one day then the next I realize my mistakes and kick their ashes back.

I've never seen the clash, and I spent the entire segment wondering if it's true. Internet has robbed my ability to detect lies due to all the fucked up shit it has. These two are slowly giving my ability as a skeptic back.
I managed to accidentally do it with the warp cane attack to the Behemoth just earlier today and I was fucking confused, but hay it got me a Tripple S so I wasn't complaining.
For those that concern keeping there ranks up during combat. So long as you don't get staggered or knocked out you won't lose rank. So you can use DT to tank some hits.
I can only imagine Pat's face trying to hold back from saying ANYTHING while Woolie marks out about the devil sword Sparda. Woolie: "I love what the Sparda represents, but it's so ugly." Pat: "Yeah, it's pretty ugly..."
Pat already beat the game like 30 times before this recording, so his reaction will be relief that he can finally talk about it without spoiling Woolie.
I love how Woolie is just geeking super hardcore over Balrog and Royalguard to the point I bet he's wishing he could have just picked Dante over Nero lol.
Most people already know this one, but you can find Kalina Ann during the Urizen boss fight, on the far left of the arena. Nobodies have gotten much easier in this game. They have three masks: gold; green; and red. Gold is the passive one with basic slaps and a jump attack. Green throws out exploding eye balls everywhere. Red is a more aggressive physical attacker. You can knock off each mask through damage/hits or by knocking the mask out of the Nobody's hand (the timing is close to when the Nobody initially pulls out the mask). If you knock off all 3 of the masks, the Nobody takes a huge increase in damage, becomes more passive, and loses its native resistance to stagger/launchers (no comment during DT though). The red mask also has jump attack following a scream and reflecting this attack will knock off the red mask.
So I bought DMC5 yesterday because of this playthrough. I had gotten home at around 8AM, bought the game around 10AM, left to have breakfast with my parents roughly half an hour later and came home at around Noon. The game was installed, and so I launched it - figuring I'd only be playing for an hour or two before I went to sleep (I work overnights). I was wrong, and for my hubris I spent 10 hours playing the SHIT out of this game and I just want to say; thank you Pat, thank you Woolie.
@@GuardsmanSmog if you use dr.faust from distance you wont trigger any cutscene due to a sequence break but you will spent like milion red orbs on that ;p
@@TravisTheRudyFox iirc 150k Red Orbs gives you essentially the max damage it can do, at least for most bosses. But yeah, don't sequence break Urizen, it's asking for crashing troubles
I know there was a novel... but my head-canon? Balrog: Totally evil, but flashy AF. Like Super Sentai/Kamen Rider flashy. Dante meets him and they have a pose-off. Epic fight calling all their moves and the like, and a lot of explolsions anytime Balrog does anything. At the end, he concedes before death because Dante is too flashy. Promises to give him sick callouts, and now they're best friends.
Woolie's idea is actually perfect if you can only use it for, maybe a slightly more lenient, perfect guard. No release, but it might save you if your timing is good enough. Give you bigger style for such a last second move, too.
I'm actually glad Woolie keeps fucking up the Crimson Cloud lyrics. If he knew what they really said...well let's just say it might be a bit of a spoiler.
There are down sides to honey comb (sorry if I got the name wrong), it locks you in one direction and if the shots aren't charged when you being the combo on an enemy they may not always get staggered. But gunslinger in 5 along with RG have improved/more user friendly than ever. I'm constantly switching between all 4 styles because of how fun and easy it is now.
They meant Berial didn't become a devil arm when beaten, like Cerberus did for example. Lucifer was a random devil arm the order of the sword was using to power the hellgate. So technically they're right about not getting one from Berial since it came from something else.
22:18 - it just hit me how sad this moment is. Dante KNOWS this is Vergil - at least a part of him - and throws that “Jackpot” out there because as we see at the end, he knows Vergil hates that catchphrase. He’s trying to get a rise out of him, to see if any of his brother is in there. So when Urizen barely seems to respond at all, that’s when Dante goes full Devil Hunter - to him, his brother is for all intents and purposes gone now, leaving only a devil behind.
Also I'd like to point out that it's near impossible to hit Dante if you switch to Trickster when you think you're about to get it, and just dodge out, so I don't know why Pat refuses to use Trickster.
It's like someone did a bunch of concept art for an MH x Soulcalibur event, got shut down at the pitch meeting, threw all their work out the window in anger, and the single sheet with Devil Sword Sparda on it found where it was always destined to be.

Berial didn't give Lucifer. The shitty, fake Hellgate that Berial came out of gave Lucifer, because Lucifer was being used as the power source for said Hellgate.
The shirtless battle in the rain was in DMC3 but Woolie may not register it because they weren't really shirtless, its just that dante just have an open jacket in that game and seeing Dante's chest automatically making Pat to think he was naked
Don't worry, Woolie (and Pat) has consistently been wrong when it comes to DMC lyrics. He was horribly wrong with almost every song in DMC3 and 4, especially Devils Never Cry and Divine Hate. Sometimes the fake lyrics stay in your head longer, even if they're wrong and not as good lol
Berial gets shit on and refrenced a surprising amount of times in this game and in the extended universe like he literally just showed up in Fortuna and gets beaten twice and that’s it
And he only runs away once, and when he goes up against Dante he outright says it's for avenging his comrades. Last time there was a demon with that kind of guts and honor it was Nelo Angelo, and he gets shit on post mortem. Big F.
@@kielbasamage The wiki says he's the lone son of Mundus and was technically ruler of the underworld making his beat down in mission 2 even fatter of an L. Balrog and King Cerberus are both as, if not more, powerful (depending on whos talking)
I guess Pat didn't know that outside of Mission 11, if you run to the back left of the boss arena against Urizen in Mission 10 you can find the Original Kalina Ann.
