+MSTS1 Michael - WOR at that time used the RCA TK-27 film chains through which to transmit such slides. Notice any difference between those and the GE PE-24/240 film chains in terms of how they appeared on-air?
This comes as a shock - I am more used to the daytime editorial feedbacks by Richard what's-his-name. I clicked "LIKE" but as a kid - I HATED editorial feedback! LOL
They cut it off just as they were getting into the local news , I can't remember what the man said about it, because I was asleep at 2am, & I woke up 3 hours later to go to school, & I usually watched Channel 5.
A few remarks, observations and questions: - I seem to recall, in the 1971-73 period, an hour block of Spanish-language programming aired on WOR from noon to 1 P.M. to compete with WNJU and WXTV (or to fill the void before those two signed on for the day), including the "novela" "Los Hermanos Corraje"; at the end of that they had a 5-minute slides-only newscast in Spanish where, instead of a stack of "news' " behind the dotted 9 logo, there was a stack of "noticias'." Anyone besides me remember this one? - A shame the Beta tape that contained this ran out just as the Local News portion was to start (haven't seen that particular slide in ages, though I remember it vividly); would have loved to see the sign-off, with a different INTV (Association of Independent Television Stations, Inc.) logo shown in those days from what's currently floating around the web, plus a circa 1970 WOR radio slide with a pic of John Gambling (the second, holding the fort on "Rambling With Gambling") inside the "O." As well as to see if they were using the Moog or Mormons SSB at this point, after their "Moment of Prayer." - And I can't end this without tipping the hat to the announcer on duty that cold February 4th, the late Bob Jordan.
It sounds familiar, these independent stations were an alternative to the mainstream networks , they aren't too many (if any ), independent channels, because the big movie monopolies took over all the channels, & infused them with their political ideologies. Things were so much better back then.
