You Sir are a legend. Spent hours trying to sort this out and then after viewing your easy to understand and follow video the task was done in 5 minutes.
THANKS A MILLION. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I HAVE STRUGGLED ON THIS WHEN WRITING MY PAPERS. I CHECKED OTHER VIDEOS, BUT THEY ALL SEEM NOT TO MAKE SENSE. I AM GLAD I CAME ACROSS YOURS

Thanks so much, Adam. I work with and format stuff in Word all the time, but when I tried to format my wife's mystery for Amazon Publishing, I spent about 4 hours trying to get it to start numbering Chapter 1 at p. 1, to no avail. I couldn't follow Microsoft's instructions or any others except yours, which were perfectly clear, crisp, and unambiguous. Even when I followed yours, it didn't work at first because even though I got Ch. 1, p. 1 to be numbered "1", the subsequent pages had no numbers and I couldn't figure out how to make them appear. I finally figured out that it must be something in Amazon's template, so I formatted it myself for the book with every page numbered in sequence and then I followed your instructions (which I typed out) and was able to eliminate the numbers on the preliminary pages and start the numbering at Ch. 1, p. 1 OK. What a relief! While I'm just a novice at programming, I believe that this task could have been made easier. I am indebted to you.
Excellent video - thank you for making it easy to understand. FYI: In the last step of removing the page number at the top - the "remove page number" tab was disabled. I just placed the cursor before the number and hit "delete". That worked. Thanks again.
Hi Prof, I have to merge 3 Word assignments into one Word document. I finally managed to change some of the headings etc that did not copy exactly. However now I don’t have page numbers for the first to assignments that would correspond with their table of contents. When I apply numbering by watching your tutorial, the entire document then goes from page 1-120 as opposed to each going from pg 1-40. Please help if possible , I have to submit by Monday. Thank you. Regards Liza.
Thank you that's helpful :) ... but how do you do this with even/odd page numbering - every time I try this it works ony with odd pages and then when I go to the initial section to remove the page numbering, it deletes all the numbers - despite the "section break" being in place.... what is wrong with the people who designed this function (ugh)
It's so useful and every time when I need to do my formatting for my assignments I need to come back here to watch again haha. Thank you so much, Prof. Morgan :)
Hey buddy, I'm new to this header footer thing. I just want to know that when I add those page numbers, and then double click on the page to close the header formatting part, the page numbers and the headers go "grey". They aren't bold anymore. Will this have any effect when I print my doc out ?
Hi Ivy, Nope, it won't effect your document. It is just "grey" to let you know that your working in a different portion of your document. Basically, Word is separated between Header, Body, and Footer portions of the document. When you're in the Header/Footer, you'll notice the body is grey. When you print the document, it'll retain all of the original format. Thanks for watching!
THANKYOU! I was going to throw my computer off the balcony if I hadn't come across your video! My page numbers are in sync finally!! Thank you Thank you!
Hi Nickely, All right, make sure that you're choosing a section break instead of a page break. Try to copy and paste the text on to another Word document and then try the page numbers. Let me know if amigos that works.
@@ProfessorAdamMorgan I know this is an old comment, but this may help others: if you select "Continuous" instead of "next page" a new section will start and no new page will be inserted.
I started my Masters's in 2021. I saved this video every time I needed it for My term papers or Thesis. Absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for your effort.
Thank you very much! I've read two tutorials, but I needed someone to walk me through this. It's as if the developers deliberately made this procedure this insanely complicated.
Thanks so much, Adam, for this very clear explanation. There are a few vids out there explaining this process but yours was the one I stuck with all the way through due to your straightforward explanation. Very grateful.
Haha I totally forgot this happened. I remember thinking I was too deep into the tutorial at this point to re-record it and just went with it. Thanks for watching, Ricardo. I appreciate it.
This helped me alot! Short, simple and just what i needed. This video was posted 6 years ago and i still find it useful and relevant today as this is what i was searching for. Keep up the good work!
They make something so simple so complicated I think. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEO. I was able to get my book numbered the right way so it can be published.
I wish that I had watched this video before my assignment was due yesterday. You have a new subscriber. I watched a lot of videos on this, but you kept it simple. Thanks!
I can understand your video easily than others but when I try to do the last step that is removing the page no's ....my whole document's page numbers are going off...what to doo....
