Word: Headers and Footers 

my footer matter is not reflected in all other pages,what might be the problem?

BUT HOW DO YOU STOP IT FROM REPEATING ITSELF. HELP

Word will gray out the header and footer when they aren’t being edited. However, if you print the document or export it as a PDF, the header and footer text will appear black (or whichever color you have selected). There doesn’t seem to be a way to change this behavior, so if you want the header to appear a certain way you may need to export it as a PDF. Hope this helps!

It’s possible to edit the template that Word uses for new documents (Normal.dotm), which allows you to set the default look for all new files: support.office.com/en-gb/article/change-the-normal-template-normal-dotm-06de294b-d216-47f6-ab77-ccb5166f98ea. However, we would not recommend doing this unless you need to, as it requires navigating into some hidden folders and potentially changing important files. Instead, we would recommend creating a document that has the header you want, and saving that document as a template. Then, you can open that template whenever you want to create a new document with a header. Hope this helps!

The only way to adjust the header is to change the size of the top margin. You can do this by going to Layout > Margins or by using the ruler on the left side of the screen. The header should then adjust automatically to match the size of the header. Hope this helps!

@@GCFLearnFree how can i input margin line. In your video 1 2 3 4 5 7 inches mark show top and left side. I want to know how can i show this scale in my word.

To enable the ruler, you can just go to the View tab and make sure the Ruler check box is checked. Hope it helps!

You’ll need to use the “Current Position” option to add a page number without overwriting the header. While editing the header, make sure you’re in the Header & Footer Design tab, and select Page Number > Current Position. It should add the page number to wherever the cursor currently is.

We’re not sure what is causing this, but there are a couple of things to check. Click the View tab and make sure the view is set to Print Layout (you can also use the buttons at the bottom of the screen near the zoom slider). If that doesn’t fix the issue, go to File > Options > Display and make sure the “Show white space between pages” option is checked. Hope this helps!
