Hey Tim, thanks for doing this review. What I love about your presentations is that you are denominationally inclusive and objectve. Your love of "the Word" from whatever prospective, shows! What I love about this bible is how -- as you mentioned --Bishop Barron includes precious art from the famous "masters" (with accompanying essays) to draw us into the specific passage. The art and selected paintings are wonderful! . . . Problem, if any, may be pricing. This is only the gospels. Upcoming editions of NT and OT will require paying for the equivalent of three bibles....Happy Easter, Tim....Phil

One thing you forgot to mention Tim is that it looks like the leather and hard cover options come with a book mark ribbon where the paper back cover does not. I prefer the book mark ribbon especially if I’m going to use this as daily devotional reading the Bible throughout the year. Cannot wait for the Old Testament versions and will be nice to break up daily devotional and reading the Bible with a daily plan, I, personally, use “Our Daily Bread” as my read the Bible in a year guide, with multiple volumes of the Bible.

These look excellent. While I have reservations about the translation, the presentation and the added material looks great. Thank you for showing the hardcover edition, as that's the one I'm considering buying the future (mainly because other volumes are being released and thus will be on my shelf with other reference material, and I won't be using it as my main, portable Bible).

I figured You might be able to be the most likely able to answer this regarding the FIRE Bible... is the NIV Global edition of this bible different from all the other translations..? because the page count seems to be at least 300 pages more on the NIV Global study edition Fire Bible than any of the other ones.... AND is the NIV.. the Only translation that has a version of the Fire Bible titled..."global study edition"...?..

Worth mentioning: I bought the leather version first and loved it so much I found myself being over protective of it so it wouldn't get damaged and thus i hardly used it. So i bought the paperback and read that one thoroughly and found that the gold imprint on the cover completely rubbed off and ended up all over my hands. It's not a major problem, but it is worth mentioning. Therefore when the "Acts, Letters and Revelation" version came out i bought the hardcover thinking this was a happy medium. However now i just find myself lamenting that I didn't get the leather. You can't win 😆

Wonderful comparison. I am including a link to your video in an article I am writing for God Is In Our Midst. Quick Question: the leather bound is Smyth Sewn. Do you know if that is the case for the hard cover edition? My daughter just gave me (as a gift out of the blue) the Hardcover edition. It does lay flat nicely, but I'm not sure about the binding. Thanks!

I was hoping to see how they all lie flat, or not, on the table without being held. That's kind of important for this kind of a study bible.

The leather and hardcover editions have no problem lying flat pretty much anywhere. The paperback edition needs a little working in, but it should get there with use.

I am wondering about the weight of the Bibles. Does the paperback copy tend to be the lightest weight? (Sometimes bibles get heavy resting on my lap.) Although if the paperback copy struggles to lay flat, then that would be a negative. I’m trying to decide which to get. Thank you for your help!

Paperback is lighter, but it does not lay as flat as the others.

Actually, I prefer having it in separate volumes. That is how the St John's Bible was released (in 7 volumes). It also is how the Handwritten Bible-Madison was made (in 6 volumes). Many of us have to be careful with how much we can lift, and if it was all in one volume I would not be able to lift it (nor would my mother). Further example, when transporting the Handwritten Bible-Madison (each volume stored in it's own box plus in an air tight bin) I use a two wheel dolly to "carry" it.
