No matter many spoilers you get a great movie knows how to build up climax so don't complain, if it's a death scene you will still cry, if its a relief moment tears of joy and laughter will come and if is a romantic rollercoaster your emotions will be along for the ride. As long it's a good movie
Maybe because they want it to be something about romance? And if that is all your looking at and commenting about instead of the fact they are talking about mental illness and trying to show what it feels like and that isn’t physocotic then you are watching the wrong movie
Considering the fact that she seems to play quite a substantive role and is a brilliant young actress, I find it quite odd that Taylor Russell's name isn't mentioned anywhere in the title?
I had intense anxiety that manifested into intrusive thoughts. My girlfriend at the time was my rock that held me together. Regardless of what the crap in my head attached to her, a woman that love me back was one of the best miracles in my life. I totally get this films message.
Perhaps you should contact the screenwriter and make this a better movie. Jk lol that’s actually been done a bit before. I wonder, which version would we prefer?
I've seen people saying this movie depicts a wrong image of schizophrenia because it looks romanticized or whatever, but I disagree. This movie is not about schizophrenia, it is a coming of age movie with teen romance and the main character happens to have schizophrenia. People with illnesses like that have a life you know, their illness doesn’t define who they are and much less is their entire personality; also I personally think that they did a relatively great job at portraying it.
its not a "just so happens to have schizophrenia" story, the biggest plot point is the fact that he has schizophrenia, that is the reoccurring conflict in the story.
@@TheMia0987654321 I meant that he's schizophrenic but his entire personality doesn’t revolve around that; and I get that that's a reoccurring conflict in the plot, but the story is about navigating life with this newfound illness, but I don't think the illness itself is not the main point, you know.
Thank God someone agrees. This is a very accurate portrayal and it's about damn time that someone made a movie about mental health that's not from the horror genre.
I myself have schizophrenia, or something schizo-like, so I do share the pain of anyone watching this trailer and angry that again an attempt by Hollywood to honor the mentally ill has been messed up. Here's my own perspective: I'm a very loving, forgiving mental case. Rare I know, but I exist and this fact alone scares people. I can understand that. People tend to be fearful of what they don't understand. Still, if you wish to know my own life, whatever might dispel the bad taste this movie might leave behind, I'll try to answer any question you have and I would encourage everyone to give friendship a with us schizos a chance. You might be surprised at how non murderous we truly are. I still enjoy the original Psycho and I find Anthony Perkins mesmerizing, but that's my unique perspective. How you approach me is up to you. Be brave. Kindness and love are what I offer. And a good sense of humor. Promise!
Why is it messed up? He isn’t portrayed as murderous so that’s you just projecting isn’t it? I mean this is just a trailer and you yourself said that you feel you are an exception to others so surely this could be portrayed as an extension of that, it’s just someone else’s experience, all of which are different. Also it’s a teen movie so it’s going to be catering to that demographic but just with an awareness of something that’s not really mainstream which is a good thing isn’t it? I think it would be constructive to say what you don’t like about it or you feel is a misrepresentation but also remember that just because it’s not speaking your story and your truth, doesn’t make it necessarily wrong.
@@smontana5133 it's not rare and people do have it but they're just termed under crazy. The culture also doesn't do much to encourage those with mental illnesses to speak out
there's a broadway show called dear evan hansen, the main character actually has very severe social anxitey and the show covers many other serious topics such as depression and suicide. i completely recommend it, i love it so much. the story is great, the music is great. it will also be adapted into a film later (starts production and quarantine). if you're interested, just reply to this comment and i'll help you find a video of it somewhere online, since they're sometimes tricky to come by.
@Caribbean Girl 19 yea and thts just one of the fish thst needs frying! If we dont speak up about representation of every type....then who will!?! Only movie i can remember is A BRONX TALE, that had a great actress reppn that darker skin tone!
this guy gave me some serious young Chad Michael Murray vibes!! Edit: Wow I've never got so many likes and replis in a comment that I left some hours ago... Mom look I'm famous!! 😂😁
I love this. It’s not about someone who’s a villain or had something really traumatic happen. It’s about a teen who had a normal life and then it changed. It’s about someone who’s having a real struggle and is human still and isn’t evil just someone who has their own struggles and it shows how he gets bullied and shamed for it and how he isn’t bad but people don’t care about that and I love it. I love how real this is. I love this
Yeah as someone with a brother with schizophrenia I don’t like that this seems to be making mental illness a romantic notion. It’s a very hard mental illness to diagnose and to treat and takes years to really understand and usually doesn’t even present itself till mid 20s. Not sure how I feel about this premise and their take on it.
No Name I’m glad it resonated with you and I guess I’m not in my brothers head so I can’t say if it was similar to the trailer but I just don’t really get the romance part but I won’t judge harshly till I actually see the movie.
Yeah. “Sick lit” is a tricky narrative form. You want to tell their stories, but plot and structure for commercially viable stories is limiting if you want to capture audiences these days.
So good to finally have a teen movie about schizophrenia, so many kids are going through this terrifying diagnosis with virtually no media representation or normalisation
Tenet Trailer comes to mind. Because they know that Nolan fans want to know the mystery. Horror movie trailer are also mostly not telling the whole story. People who watch stories like this want to be sure that something stupid doesn't show up at the end. People who want to see romcoms want to see the girl getting they boy, not the boy falling for the mother. Its about the expectation of the audience. People who claim "Oh I saw the whole movie in the trailer, now I don't need to see it" wouldn't have watched the type of movie anyway. And the marketing shows that, so the film producers go with the thing that works.
My nephew was diagnosed with schizophrenia last year! He was in his last year of university studying nutrition. He's my hero! To go through that and graduate.
Look I'm all for a movie that brings awareness to such a rarely talked about illness, but this looks like it's a hollywood romantic teen version of schizophrenia 😑
It’s just a movie. It’s not that deep. You need to learn how to separate reality from fantasy. Not everything has to be similar to things in real life. I doubt you sit there and watch documentaries and read nonfiction books all day. It’s for entertainment
Um filme que faz à gente refletir, e olhar para pessoas que tem Esquizofrenia ou problemas mentais. Eu recomendo, pois gostei do filme e da temática. Além de ter um romance e personagens carismáticos. 🖤🖤
For all the people saying this trailer gives away the whole movie... you people are so wrong, there's lot of details in the movie that doesn't appear here. It's a beautiful movie, I highly recommend it. Love and peace from the Dominican Republic ❤
Some people have bad experiences and they project it into everyone else. I don't think that all schizophrenics are the same, so it is completely possible for him to have a real romantic relationship. My father has schizophrenia and he doesn't act like this dude, but he ain't aggresive either.
So blessed to see a movie abour schizophrenia. It's about time this form of mental illness got some exposure. My best friend has it so I'm hoping this movie will help me understand him more.
Even tho i saw the majority of the flick via the trailer i still will surely give this a watch! It looks extremely well done and all. Beautiful story and looks like amazing cast!
Ok, why do i feel like I'm watching a knock off trailer of *Lost in Space* where Judy is now "Maya" and her brother is now her boyfrienf, and her mother is now her Mother-in-law and im so sure I saw her sister. Lol, (I did recommended that you go and watch *lost in space* its Awesome.
So i read the book a month ago and it was incredible good. The way it was written and how Adam described bis life way just super lovely and deep. I mean the movie doesnt seem completly bad but the book handled the Story defintely a lot better
For those commenting that you just saw the entire movie just remember that no matter many spoilers you get a great movie knows how to build up climax so don't complain, if it's a death scene you will still cry, if its a relief moment tears of joy and laughter will come and if is a romantic rollercoaster your emotions will be along for the ride. As long it's a good movie
Having a family member with paranoid schizophrenia, I can't express how much I am awaiting this movie. Yes, they hear sound that doesn't exist, see things that isnot there. We have long way to go to understand mental illness & create safer space for those who are going through these.
