Welcome! I'm Lori, and I founded Teach Through Love because I'm passionate about helping adults resolve daily conflicts and nurture children's development by using conscious communication.
Parents, teachers, and caregivers are the most influential people in a child's life. My Conscious Parenting Courses and Communication Cards have helped thousands of parents and professionals break free of reactive patterns and unconscious beliefs about "discipline" that keep them stuck in negative cycles with kids.
I want to help adults increase cooperation and connection by communicating in ways that help kids feel heard and capable of change. We can help them reach their full potential and learn to solve conflicts and collaborate with others when we shift how we respond to their needs and feelings.

Oh Lori I love this!! I think daily reminders short and sweet like that in my opinion are so helpful. I have read books about parenting and connection which helped but then it's so easy to fall back on old parenting habits and you feel like you're trapped in the cycle you were raised in. A minute of awareness sets me back on track.

Yay! So glad to hear this. I’ve got a slew of them in the works! Short and sweet! Thank you for watching. 🫶🏼

Thank you so much for these tips! Hearing you say them out loud I can see how those first 2 examples aren’t helpful.

Can you give us tips on how to respond to your child when they tell you the truth about something but then you reprimand them. Example: my child shows me videos on his tablets that he isn’t allowed to play or watch because they aren’t age appropriate. I remove them and he gets upset. I feel like if I continue to do this he isn’t going to be honest with me as he gets older. Any suggestions?

Ohhh. Hmmm. Maybe prompt with a question. “Thank you for showing me these. Or I’m glad you feel safe enough to share with me. it looks like this one is 13+ (or whatever the issue is) And then ask, what can we do with the videos that aren’t appropriate? It’s never about the words but I’d be focused on being curious first (we often want to set limits first as if we’re going to run out of time).
