Workaround for Sony a7IV Full Frame 4k60?

Just because it's outputting on HDMI at 60fps, doesn't mean it's reading the sensor at 60fps. I believe that is where the bandwidth limitation is. You'd have to roll a ball across the frame or some other movement to see if there is actually 60 unique frames per second.

I wonder if the footage is being upscaled in camera. So 1080p sensor readout is being upscaled to 4K through this process. Have no idea whether it could be good image quality- but certainly one of the great finds of the century. Extremely impressive discovery- would you so kindly test the footage for us? Confirming whether it’s truly 4k60 p full frame, compared to maybe the crop 4k60 and the a7siii 4k60? This could make the átomos ninja V a worthy upgrade. Perhaps Sony wants to make a paid upgrade to do this in the future- 4K 60 full frame to external recorder :0

Why was my original comment deleted? A test has been done by Iphonedo with GeraldUndone and they confirmed its upscaled 1080P 60 to 4K.

we tested it's 1080p60 zoom into 4k60, fake 4k

Oh, and rolling shutter should indicate what part of that sensor is being used.

Hello, how are you ? help please, it's my first sony, I bought it two weeks ago at best buy and today I went to connect it to my ninja 5 and the HDMI is loose, so the image goes back and forth on the ninja 5, it's like cutting the signal and I'm using a good hmdi cable, on your camera the hdmi connector is also a little loose?

I'm trying to understand why the Ninja V Source Signal always shows UHD59.94 and not the frame rate in camera. Atomos told me that as of May 18 2022, the A7iv is still not of their list of compatible cameras and that it has not been tested by them. But what difference if any does this actually make to the footage recorded. Eg. If I record 4k 24p in camera, it records at 59.94 on the Ninja. Does this impact the quality of the Ninja files and how they can be edited? Confusing....

wow. that must mean that the camera is capable of outputting 4k60 but they crippled it on purpose? or maybe they will do a software update to allow 4k60 FF

I don't have an external recorder to try this out. Regardless, Sony crippled this camera. Shame on them.
