Today in my workshop I am making a new house plaque for a customer and I am a little behind schedule so workng a saturday morning and evening. I am carving this house plaque into a piece of reclaimed welsh slate. Stone carving is something I have been doing for about 6 years. I am self taught, before this I was a dry stone waller for 10 years.
All my chisels I use are from Southern Stone I have been using the company for 6 years and never had any problems.

Hello, I am pleased to have found your channel. I love watching skilled craftspeople and often enjoy trying my hand at a new skill. I want to particularly comment that I appreciate that the music you have included here isn't too loud. With many you tube channels I turn the volume down because of not liking the music, then I miss something that gets said and have to go back and turn it up, then the music comes blaring back. . . . I was able to just watch and listen to this, without the music taking over. Thanks, and cheers to more videos! Viewer 315

Hi Elaine thank you for subscribing & thank you for taking the time to comment. You should definitely try your hand at carving some stone, it can be very therapeutic. Regarding the music it can tricky picking the music to use and getting the volume just right but it sounds like I have got it right on this one 👍

Hi Fran, Its great news you like about videos, there are many more to come 👍. You might even bump into some of our work in California one day, we send lots of our birdbath bowls to the US with California & Texas the most popular. Regarding wax, it was actually olive oil. It’s a tip from a old mason who worked in the slate mines. It does a really nice job doesn’t it! I like to add two coats letting each soak in and then a good buff. Matty @ GreenStone&Ivy
