@@exantusdayinalife6169 I get in the trailers still but most important in tracking the right way to scan, load, and build walls.. I get to know every package even better than the ops mngrs... I do run the areas in occasion but to be honest being a trainer is more rewarding for me (less stress).
Nathan thank you for your time and making this video Im about to start this week. When you said 2K to 3k boxes I was like dang this is going to be mental🤯
@@Andrew-ew6yj I been working otp from 11:30 - 3 am and pre load from 4:30 - 9 am. Been there right at a month. I'm not gonna lie, it's hard work. Lol. I'm 40 yrs old , so I get sore & all easier than when I was in my 20s but the toughest part is getting used to the hours. My goal is to hang in there and apply for ops manager after a year.
I love the look of disappointment at 9:35. "if you are doing checks" I laughed so hard! thanks for all the tips too dude! I look forward to working at fedex!
I just left amazon like 3 weeks ago and I start at fedex ground this friday. Hope my experience at amazon translates into an easy transition! Super glad the pay is better and glad to get back into a physical routine
Maybe like funny moments you experienced at your job or if you would recommend this job for someone that is starting to look out for a job. Great video. Stay safe and take care😃
Thank you Nathan I just finished my application I hope I get the job I cant wait to start I don't have boots or a back brace yet but hopefully I can manage until my first check!
@@ibrahimkaba3496 I’m not sure about that, look into the afternoon shift When you speak to them over the phone just request a shift from like 3-7pm or something like that
Im 40 years old and haven't worked in 2+ years. I start at fedex tonight unloading trucks. I decided to try it out because my investment savings is running low and prices are going up plus I could use the exercise. Already got the back brace, steel toe shows, and gloves and Im anxious to get started. I like the idea of putting in my time doing whatever they want and leaving with $$ earned to support my life in general. I appreciate you making this video and sharing your perspective on the job
Hello trio thank fixer I did that for 6 years now I’m doing something called the slide table, please please take care of your back and slew a lot and rest when you’re home I want to cry for you because I know what you’re getting into
My job at FedEx is the shit. You struggle at first to keep up with the packages but get hip to it real fast if you actually try. I know some people have had poor experiences but I lucked out at my location, from managers to my coworkers everyone is so friendly and nice. I look forward to heading into management after I max out my raises as a package handler. I work from 3am to 9am and enjoy my WHOLE DAY off. I’m never leaving!
So like if you suck at first I assume they give you a couple of days to get used to the type of work? I worked in customer service but like I had to lift 50 lbs of ice a bunch so I can do that but I assume they want you to speed up.
@@fuccckckkkkckkck More than a couple days. I'm sure you can suck for atleast 30 days or so , as long as you show a little improvement you'll be good. Or they'll find a spot more suited for you sometimes.
@@fuccckckkkkckkck You're not expected to speed load 50lb boxes, take your time with them if you have to. Usually there aren't entire trailers full of them. You might get a bit winded for a few mins, but you'll recover back to normal speed. When I started I could barely lift some normal heavy boxes in trailers, eventually I was working the IC belt lifting 150lb pools and trampolines.
@Angels fan it depends on the location. I hear some managers will bark orders to move faster. but my managers helped me out. My first week I was killed with 3 trucks and 2 managers and one of my coworkers bailed Me out. I can load 4 trucks by myself now. I really enjoy it, it’s the easiest job I ever worked and it honestly feels like a day off. The way I look at it is I get paid to workout. That’s my form of cardio Tbh and then I go to the gym. Win win!
Some of the smaller hubs have three 3-6hour shifts. For mine it's 4-8am 9-12ish am and 3-8:30pm. Often go over and under time depending how fast everyone is working
They usually have sign a meal waiver so they can make you work up to six hours without lunch if you go passed that your manager usually gets bitched at. If you didn’t sign one it’s five hours. I used to manage at west Rialto. The managers will rotate lunches so they don’t know your people and they end up failing sending people or to lunch
They are abusive in Fed ex no lunch no brake they give you a small dorito bag with some lettuce lots of tomatoes a one tablespoon of ground beef thru give it to you in the dorito bag so you can work and eat inhumane job
I've worked for Fedex (5:30-9:330ish) since November 2020, and have learned more from this video than from working there. No training happening at my location!
He's right about alot when comes to fedex ground alot alot weight involved continuous packages I work at fedex ground peak right now im full-time I work 2 shifts which are 5 hours apiece it's not bad you need dress in layers while it's cold get very hot really fast in the trucks not cold it's alot physical work running around promise you will stay busy you will hert no matter your age it's not bad place managers do care alot more than people claim but it's not easy not for everyone
I work at the FedEx Ground Memphis! I have a full time job as a restaurant manager I already make great money. I always wake up at 4:30am so I decided to do this fir the exercise and for money to just leave in bank. I love it I'm 49 was 240 pound I'm 6'1. ! 3weeks later I'm 225 and toned and still loosing weight! AND I HAVE 1000$ EXTRA IN BANK PAID TO EXERCISE!!
I've been a package handler for two weeks now, not long, but the job is super simple, just physically demanding. All these tips 10/10, except I'd recommend against steel toed boots, not only do you have to take them off walking through security everyday, but if a big enough box drops on your toes or falls at the right angle, rip your toes my dude, not super likely but not something I wouldn't risk personal. Definitely aim for a thicker boot tho.
got through my first 3 weeks and holy cow... this is defiantly NOT a job for the weak of heart! its so much work, but the way i see it? I'm getting paid to get the summer body of a lifetime! one thing I would def add, is eat... like a ton... I have gone through the carbs like lightning. i already had a high metabolism, so i learned instantly that i will die if I am not constantly eating. also I feel so lucky that at my hub, we have a water and ice machine right there ready to go. oh and i have learned that CERTAIN companies that USE FEDEX are.... not getting a penny out of my paycheck XD. all in all im thrilled with my experience so far. it's just what i needed to get me all pumped to getting that sweeet sweeeeet "employee of the month" certificate! btw i got that direct deposit on fleek lol,
I work a full time management job and fed ex in the morning its tough but u gotta live a healthy lifestyle or else ... Cut back the broskeys get your rest and stay constantly hydrated its important and I mean a gallon of water a day at minimum to those who want to do what I'm doing and weight lifting on your days off u really gotta be in shape to work two jobs like I do
Great advice!! I’ve even seen people lose a ton of weight just working there a few months as well. Sometimes the toughness of the work has some benefits🤷🏾♂️ Thanks for your comment btw!
How do you switch from load to unload for peak season. My managers in Connecticut are uncoordinated and make it difficult for me to switch. I don’t wanna quit but I’m not doing load for peak season
Speak to your area manager and say you’d like to facilitate that change.. after that I’m not sure ....last resort just clock in and go to unload side and start working ( don’t say I told you to that tho 😂)
@@meking24 welp, it was good for a week or so, then they decided masks weren't actually all that important enough to enforce the mask mandate so i quit. i dont get paid enough by them to die because the higher ups cant keep a damn mask on for any length of time.
You will be physically and maybe mentally exhausted while working as a package handler. I’ve worked at ground for 3 months and the amount of people who have quit/fired is astounding.
People expect a quick dollar without doing any work or dealing with any stress. Reality is, you have to know why your’e there. Look straight ahead, work through the time and collect your check. Leave the attitude and quitter mentality at the door.
I just started I hate the fact that my company doesn't pay to load the truck we have limited space so I have to wait for someone else to finish I am definitely gonna quit soon not gonna work for free
I heard working there is a lot better than Amazon. I'm in NJ too & I've seen signs in the grass when I'm out for a walk saying they're hiring at $13.75 an hour. Yeah that's a little less than Amazon but I hear they don't stress you out as much.
So I applied at a Fedex facility near Midway Airport in Chicago and the interview was online? Like a text message interview that would give you questions to answer and I passed.. Got paperwork and a background check processing rn all digitally. Didn't know it'd be this easy but I also have UPS trying to hmu too lol My gut is telling me to do Fedex just because the hours would work with my construction job that's been slow.
What kinds of things have caused ppl to get fired ? What if they deliver a package to the wrong house, do they get 1 more chance or do they get fired ?
Tbh I hardly ever saw people get fired Usually it was because of altercations with management. Most people just quit, you’ll see that way more often than getting fired
Ive been working at Fedex ground for a month now. And damn its a workout! Ive already started noticing my pants feeling looser on me. Sweat so much. Definitely recommend drinking water to makeup for all the sweat.
I'm already losing weight.... Plus I'm eating healthy too. I changed my whole eating habits back in June. So I'm working on getting in shape. I start Monday November 9th for orientation
To be quite honest Robles, I don’t remember. You may be able to view this information on their website, I never really paid attention to benefits while working there.
Hello! I’m doing my work tour tomorrow for fed ex express as a material handler. Do you think your advise for a package handler would benefit a material handler also?
Think about it like this yall. If you are young and still living at home and don't have to pay much bills, you could stack up between 15-20k in 8 months if you work full time
Much closer to 15-16k, but that assumes you save 100% of your net income ( after taxes ). If someone has no financial responsibilities, I suggest they save as close to 50% or higher of their income in order to begin building a better future for themselves.
I applied wednesday last week got a call for an interview the next day and on friday i had an interview over the phone and only asked me like 5 questions and at the end of the interview he told me he was gonna call me in a week or so once my background check was good so that means im hired?
I applied last week and like 4 days later I got an email to go to an open interview drive thru style the following day. So I went (this past Friday) and I saw a ton of people there, the cars circled around so I would guess like 50-60 cars and who knows how many would later. Anyways I got my hopes down because of so many people there. I drove up, answered a few questions and they said they would keep in touch. 5 hours later I got an email requesting information and consent to background check. Does that mean I the job? I have no criminal history. When can i expect to get a call back? Right now it’s Tuesday so it’s been 4 days now.
Your'e probably hired my friend. For me, it only took 3 days for them to call back so I'm not sure about how long it'll take for you. But FedEx is hiring like CRAZY right now so you should be fine
Nate TalksAlot oh, one more thing. I applied in September and the ad said it was a part time position, there was no mention of it being a temp position. I know they start hiring in October for Temporary peak season. You think they would still consider me a regular part time even IF I’m hired in October?
I'm just looking for some side money. They offered me M-F 5:30 - 9. I'm still debating if I should take it cuz I got orientation on Monday and don't know if physical jobs would be for me even though I'm pretty fit..
I’m honestly not sure Apparently FedEx has a lot of different shifts and hours The most common is the 4 or 5 hour shift for PT If it sounds good for you as a side income, take it James!
I also worked midnights for FEDEX Ground. I resigned after 4 days of working. In my opinion, it isn’t worth the money. You basically are getting paid to do intense lifting exercise for hours at a time. No phones in the building, no music (understandable because you don’t want to get hurt if distracted) On my third day of orientation, there was a guy who was supposed to be a trainer teaching me. He didn’t know how to load the trucks. My location was very unorganized. If you are willing to break your back, knees and bones for $16 an hour then go ahead. Otherwise wouldn’t recommend this job.
Fortunately I start at 330am for training in about 2hrs for 23 currently until Christmas seasons over then its 21 I'm in preload for local trucks I can imagine it's gonna be shit work since it's physical but I plan on getting my CDL in the meantime
I’m honestly not sure 🤔 If you mean 12 noon to 11 pm, then that’s an 11 hour shift and I’ve never personally heard of such a shift. But then again each warehouse is different. Be sure to ask management questions.. and get that money Mohr 💵
If you’re full time during seasonal ( NY , NJ ) you’re asked to come in 6 days until peak season is over But for the most part in general, you’ll work 5 days
More than Likely no, since they will have to layoff the hundreds of temporary workers they hired... but, if you get familiar with management, do a decent job and show up on time, you could get a permanent position.
Bathroom breaks 😭😭 That’s a great JOKE Brooklyn But essentially you go when you absolutely have to, but just know if a truck is coming down heavy or a lot of work is coming in ... bathroom break will be the last thing your managers will have in mind for you
Not gonna lie I am our of shape af this year and haven’t exercised in like 11 months. Lowkey have always been scared of trying these type of jobs out but idk I am tired of working in customer service at this point and I was reading that FedEx helps pay for your college education after 90 days so hoping I can handle the work load or well at least the 5 hour shifts.
I heard they pay a small portion of the tuition as reimbursement. So you’ll still have to front the cash I believe. Either way, get the money and if you feel too overwhelmed I’m sure another opportunity will pop up this winter for you!
Hey, Nathan...Rick here, I just attended a hiring event this past weekend & they took my fingerprints & drug test that same day, a few days later, I got my job offer for package handler, then they asked me to click on a link to review the documents, I did that & now what happens next?? Did that mean im hired or?? Just asking, bro....thanks in advance!
@@Kevo_973 different wieghts & sizes, Im thinking maybe I have a weak core or it may be my weight, because im about 5'9 & weigh around 300 lbs, so im a pretty big guy.....
Also, they don't provide gloves? When I worked at amazon they had vending machines of PPE/Work gloves with grip/Work equipment/Pain Killers/etc and they had water stations everywhere and we would get a 20 minute break after like 3 hours ... Is it like completely different at fedex?
@@exantusdayinalife6169 I mean... Honestly, at amazon, I was putting in so much work that I never actually took my breaks anyway so I guess in that regard i'll be fine. I'll just bring snacks like you said!
@@exantusdayinalife6169 cool. I applied about a week ago, and today got a text message from them with a yes and no interview survey did that. Then they sent me a email with stuff to type out and send for a background check. Filled that out, now I guess wait.
Signed up for a 6am-9am shift I can't imagine it's hard. I'd love more hours but the funny thing is the guy called me within the minute I submitted the application XD
@@K3VG979 oh I love 3am but back when I worked at ground if I wanted full time it would have to be from 10pm-2am and then 3am -whenever we were done I would of preferred 3am -7 or something than 7 -11 idk that would of been a lot better
From all the recruiting websites I’ve seen, FedEx usually pays a little more than amazon ( $15 -$17) however, Amazon does offer higher benefits (If that’s important to you in your choice between the two).
People are quitting because they're not getting paid enough to do the job that they have to do $500 I'm guessing that's after taxes right if you're not working weekends
Yes, it’s around that amount if you work in the NY or Jersey areas (If you don’t work weekends) That’s why this job is a starter job, not too many requirements to get in and make some money.
@@exantusdayinalife6169 a heavy physical requirement is a lot for most people if your body's broke down before you even get your first check I've been that's a pretty healthy price to pay
If you’re full time you’ll be able to enroll in their health plan pretty soon after you start. I got my benefits package letter sent to my mail a few weeks after my orientation. ( I’m FT) For part time, you’ll have to wait 90 days to have access to FedEx benefits.
