never would want to do long miles on a Pan America... they put a stupid chain on that thing... I know that's cheap and easy, but if it had a shaft, it would have been beyond awesome. and I don't wish my Vulcan was a Harley... the Harley isn't worth the extra $12,000 they want... I'd rather buy multiple bikes than 1 Harley.
I’m 50 years old, own super bikes and sport touring bikes. Walked into the local Harley dealer expressing interest and admitted to knowing little to nothing about the different models and was left in the show room alone with my d1ck in my hand. How many days into training did this get taught? Man I love my K1600.
@@UncleBogator fair. It’s not to slight everyone’s experience but around my area up here in Canada, it’s a pretty common experience a lot of us share. Maybe someday 👍🏻
New rider have. Took the MSF course at a HD dealership. Bought my first bike. Iron 883. Didn't buy from a HD dealership after a terrible experience. However have had my bike serviced and modified by another fantastic HD dealership.
If you want to rip around in the dirt on the weekends. Travel back to 1982 ,Orlando sport stadium motocross. When they had the open class. The Maico 490. Scream machine.
Great video, you need to include your lunch, calls to the mother in law. Your sore foot and what you think about the new stop sign. Also a long review about your planned fishing trip. All of these would give a better feel of reality.
I have never met a Harley salesman that didn’t think he was the coolest cat on earth. What a turnoff. Will never step foot in another Harley store. Ever!
Hello Mr Branch... I'm glad that I was able to spend the day with you...another great video..much love to you and your family from your buddy in Ohio 😊😊😊
That new scenic bridge route is stunning scenery. A nice 4k evening ride with some yacht rock playing would be epic. I also think the bike spinner for photos is a great idea. I will have to check the website to see how they look. Nice work.
I’m 58 I’m 9n my 4th and last harly. My experiences last few years are nothing but horrible to the point I will never buy another Harley ever again. I’ll ride this one until it dies. I have a 17 FLTRU. Any service issue that arises I’m going independent. Last dealer made my bike worse then when it went. I’m all done with them. Next one will be a Indian.
The pan America will be my next bike. Cool video, and nice to see what it's like working at a dealership, waiting to see if I can secure a parts sale position at my local dealership now myself. Keep shinny side up
I start MMI in about a month for their full Harley program, currently I ride a 2005 softail springer fxstsi and i’m just in love with it, I was going to buy the new 2023 softail but something about the older springer drew me in.. so I made the purchase about a month ago in Chico California at Sierra steel Harley Once I’m out of school I’m looking for a dealership to work at 😎 can’t wait!!!
Worked for Hooligan HD in AL, owned by Russoms Group. Terrible owners and Dealerships stay away from any owned by them IMO. Least you found a good Dealership to work at it not easy to find one.
Mike you don't get paid enough! The best of luck to you. When I stopped in at Bert's, my impression was, turn down the music. The second, tooo many salespeople. What are your thought's of the amount of salespeople?
There’s nothing like a Harley. The biker community knows that to be fact. Harley has something no other bike has it’s got sole. Hope the little woman gets the Harley.
Harleys with the awful M8 engine have no soul, no character, no feel. The EVO Sportster was the last real Harley, then they dropped that. The "new" so called "Sportster" and Pan America might as well be battery powered. No feel, no sound. What other reasons are there to ride a Harley??
@@geraldscott4302 Harley is trying to capture the new generation customer, while doing enough to keep the old loyalists. All about keeping investors happy on paper.
I just subscribed to your channel thanks to shadetree love the Harleys brand love the sounds they make but i ride a Triumph Rocket 3 GT pure torque and power looking foward to see more content ride safe man.
Have two horns extra on my Freewheeler, one plays God Bless American and the other Star Spangled Banner. I get enjoyment playing them in parking lots and at stop lights. If they don't like it they can leave. I also have given out over 1200 stickers that says STAND BY YOUR OATH = PATRIOT under that it says DENY YOUR OATH = TRAITOR. I don't care who don't like them or my horns.
@Uncle Bogator just had my trike in for a recall and three hole oil change and the guy who works on my trike knows about the horns and he said he hit one of the buttons and played Star Spangled Banner and the guys across from him jump to attention before they realize it was coming from my trike. Anytime I have her in the shop they love playing the horns. My sissy bar is two Battlefield Crosses with a M1 bayonet on top. Back to if you don't like my trike or this great country GET OUT
I worked at a Harley-Davidson dealer. I worked my butt off, met some great people (both other employees and customers) and was fired when sales turned down. I don't regret my time there but wouldn't do it again.
@@blairrichards4175 Actually I lied, I would do it again but it was a very hard and physically demanding job for me. I was the Ambassador of Fun or Marketing Manager at a medium sized dealership. I had an event both big and small every Saturday and I spent the week putting events together, going over budgets (or lack there of), gathering the necessary assets for Saturday and of course on Saturdays I was cooking hamburgers/pancakes, coordinating a dog show, supervising an event, judging a contest, cleaning up vomit or managing any one of a hundred details. The customers loved it but I could never make my boss happy. I seemed that I was always behind.and always over budget.
The algorithm said I should watch this. Here's a tip for you. 4k is overrated. However, shoot 4k, edit proxy, delete 4k after, upload 2k. Repeat. Ride safe, say hi to Josh for me 👋
Kind of. I’m on the 1440p bandwagon. Have been for the past 2 years. The 4K footage is too big for what you get (overrated as you say). But the camera I used for this video shoots 4K 24fps or 1080p 60fps. I don’t like 1080p and I despise 60fps unless I’m going for 40% slow motion. So to get 24fps, I was pigeonholed into 4K. I don’t need proxies on my pc thankfully. That’s another time sink waiting to render all those. I could still export in 2.7k though.
@@UncleBogator Yeah I was shooting 4k for a long time then I realized after RU-vid compression, you can't even tell the difference between 2k or 4k or good 1080p. I mostly shoot 4k 24k off the bike now and 2k 60 on the bike. I find I get that Hollywood look with these settings. What's that word everyone's throwing around now, oh, Cinematic. Lol
Those problems you mentioned and more with the GoPro cameras have been around since the first camera came out. You can quickly lose those problems with a JDI camera. Jay from 2LaneLife has a JDI drone and a camera, with the camera and three days of heavy pouring rain he lost the microphone. with the GoPro 2 hours at best and you would lose everything.
The Pan America isn't selling because they aren't great bikes. Everyone I know that bought one has traded it or sold it because it spends more time in the shop getting repaired than the time they were able to enjoy it. My buddy Dale absolutely loved his Pan America but he got frustrated with how much time it spent in the shop. He said, "In his 48 years of riding, the Pan America is probably the most amazing bike he has ever owned, but it breaks down too much."
i have 3 friends with them. 1 of them had repeat issues so he traded his in within a few months. other 2 seem to be ok for now. they've had them over a year each. time will tell
@@UncleBogator Yea who knows. Anytime HD steps out of their comfort zone they usually fail. I was really hoping this would be an amazing machine that they could use sell a lot of units. I was excited for the Bronx till they axed it. The company needs a high thrill bike that looks good, that the younger generation can afford. The new Sportster S isn't it.
Are Harleys actually selling? Just an honest question, I bought a Sportster in 2012, it was a good deal, nowadays every bike it's more than 15k, and every year, I mean EVERY YEAR, they are like 1k pricier, at least in Europe, and they have ditch the more affordable ones of the line up, like the regular low rider (non S or ST) the sport glide, the road king classic... so, are they selling bikes?
Harley’s had a significant price drop this year. And most people aren’t comparing apples to apples. Harley doesn’t have a 10k or under bike but they’re not competing in that displacement range either. Price a 1,000 cc Japanese bike (usually not actually 1k cc) and compare it to Harley’s lowest displacement at 975cc.
@@UncleBogator not in Europe, I just checked, 1k € higher in most models, the nightster here it's 15k, the rebel 1100 it's 11k, I've test rode both, they're extremely comparable.
Good video. Not sure if you have rode a vulcan 650 s, but I had an 883 custom and I won't go back. The 650 is quicker every day of the week... I'm not just saying that because I love mine, the bike stats speak for themselves. The 650 is almost half the price. The only thing lacking is that harley sound. I can't comment on the Honda as I have never rode one.
FATBOB will need the foot controls moved back for her to be comfy....I had one and my feet would start slipping off the pegs after about an hour of riding
Think you missed something there, my man... not everyone on a V-twin cruiser wishes they had a Harley. That's why Indian is cutting a nice niche in HD's market these days! The black & orange brand has pissed off a LOT of riders over the years with it's business practices. I've heard a LOT of riders describe their preferences, as a result, as "Anything BUT a Harley!" over the years.
I beat all that by owning tools I know how to use, the gumption to use them and a pasel of common sense. Sooo. I buy all my Harleys used. Usually one owner, low miles. I know corporate has enough flaws to count and alot of the dealerships are full of asinine people. Not all mind you, but significant enough to call it a problem. I live about 500 miles from where you work and would go there to buy used and if I ever buy my first new bike it will be from there. Lowrider st I'm looking at this year for my first new bike. Biking now is more of a fad nowadays than a lifestyle that it used to me. More motorcycle "enthusiast". All those motorcycle t.v. shows did it I think. Great for the dealers. Neat vid. thanks for posting.
@@UncleBogator Seriously. For me I can buy one brand-new mid level bike or buy the 05 wide glide, 02 lowrider, 57 ironhead, my dragstar and Pops is giving me his 96 Fxr. I have 88 hundred dollars in all of them. How much money do I have left over for repairs and customizing?
actually, the Honda Goldwing has more "made in America parts" on it than a Harley. Use to be about Harleys and real USA steel and parts, now Harley is about selling Harleys with a 28-32 % interest giant payment and a bunch of mechanics that only change parts after part after part. past bikes 91, 97 09 Ultra Classics, I probably spent 50,000 80,000 on brakes, exhausts, handle bars, power commanders, burnt exhaust headers and an engines with onkly 32000 miles. I bought a butt load of headlight's, starters', batteries and wiring harnesses repeatedly. Met a lot of goos people and had good times. Now it seems its abour chrome, show, blow, and event/entrance fee's up the buttt.
OMG, you look almost like Eddie at Seminole Harley Davison. That is totally uncanny. Even sound like him where it is there something weird going on now.
Hey Mike ,very interesting and enjoyable video as it was kind of interesting to see some of your day.and im a bit shocked that the wife feels ready to make that jump .to go from a 750 to a fat boy Harley ..hell iv been riding for going on 30s and i dont feel ready to ride one of those big boys lol
