A tip for anyone interested. The GODOX AD600BM has an odd very compact flash tube which give a much harder edge. I bought it for that very reason as I like to mimic sunlight. The upgraded pro version has switched to a more conventional circular tube so don’t be tempted with the pro if you want the hard light. The other trick I used to do when using a circular style flash tube was to turn the head 90 degrees which effectively makes the tube smaller
Hi Alan. The XPLOR300 has become my "go to" flash over the past 18 months. It shares the same battery as the EVOLV200 which means I always have ready to go and even though I've smashed the glass flash tube cover, it still works perfectly.
Fun, as always, and some really great embedded tips as always! Sophie has absolutely THE LOOK for this shoot. The bonus shot: Between the slats! Great video, thanks for making and sharing.
Cheap venetian blinds doesn't come cheaper than this, thrown away in a corner by previous owner. A few sheets of styrofoam can also be cheap but useful items. If you have small pockets but big ideas.
I think you could give a Polaroid to Quasimodo and he would get great shots of Sophie. She is the epitome of stunning models so Gavin does well to be able to have her available for this tutorials! Well done, you two...as usual.
Ulll exactly what I need - cause I´m working/planing a photoshoot where a venetian will be the star of the scenario. And I don´t imagine that a hard light would be necessary. Thank you Gavin! Cheers from Brazil!!
Tech question, Gavin. You are often tethered to a small monitor off to the side. It does not look like you are plugged into a laptop or main computer. Can you tell me what monitor this is? Thanks. Absolutely love your videos
Hi Gavin! Thanks for an awesome video! Say, I have a question regarding the Evolve 200 aka Godox AD200. Why did you not use the grid / barn doors that come with the kit? Instead, you used an S-bracket and a bowens mount reflector and grid? Thanks in advance.
Great video, I tried this type of thing before with very mixed and mostly poor results, definitely have to give it another go after watching this, great tutorial Gavin, can I ask what are you tethered to? I've seen it in a couple of your tutorials and I'm trying to work it out, is it a small HDTV just for viewing the shots whilst the images stay on the card or it is a computer setup? I'd be grateful for a reply or if you have explained it before a link would be great! Thanks!
hello Gavin, could you tell me how you do to see the photos on your screen in real time while you are doing your session. Also if once your camera is connected you can use the larger screen to achieve better focus. Thank you for your videos!!!
I love most of your tutorials but, this was particularly very educational. Nice model for the mood. You made this topic easier to understand and helped with some of the pitfalls. Great as always. Keep up the great work.
Sees a Gavin Hoey vid and hits "Like" and it is Sophie again, Great work Each. Was that Planned Gavin? Right on the tails of the Mark Wallace "Three light Set up" .. 10/10 for timing ..!!
The results would be very different in the same space. An optical snoot focuses the light into a smaller spread, so I would have needed to back up a long way to fill the height of the blind. That said, different results are not BAD results... actually I love your suggestion!
@@GavinHoey oh that's great Gavin. Really happy to see your reply. You know I've been following your work since 2010 means more than decade. Missing your 15minutes photo challenge.
