I'm doing a $5k job on a yacht for just one room and EVERYTHING she says is TOPS. And that staple remover is the BEST especially if you have to remove the old vinyl without tearing it up if you need to use it as a template for od shaped cushions..

OMG....You came into my life the at the right moment.....redoing the seat cushions on beautiful solid maple dining chairs I bought as dining table set. The table and 6 chairs were bought 10 years ago for $4500...I was able to buy second hand for $500 which were in mint condition. The seats were done in a ugly flower fabric so I bought some 4 way stretch faux black leather to redo. I followed one video doing pleaded corners but did not work well on the first cushion I did. Your gathering method makes so much sense. Thank you so much. Cheers from Canada Bradley

The thinner the vinyl the more cracking it will develop later. Cracking usually takes place around edges of armrests and on the sides of cusions. I do like your videos. Great work there. Thank you.

Well after about 70 thousand tries and running out of staples because I had to pull so many back out I now know how far I can frisbee my seat base and it's roughly 67 feet and then a truck ran over it and broke it. So there's that and really good tutorial btw and I'm not gonna quit my day job.

Investing in a upholstery air stapler will make your life a heck of a lot easier when you need ridiculous accuracy 😁👍I have one like hers AND the specialized one. And they're not even that expensive. Anywhere from 20 to 60 dollars depending on where you shop..
@mathewtva
@mathewtva 3 года назад
I did it! Thanks for your video. A few things I learned. - 4-way vinyl is expensive. For a non-circular chair seat, I got away with 2-way stretch for $6/yd. plus shipping - Spring loaded staple gun was fine. Chair had T50 1/4" 6MM staples so I matched when replacing. - For the corners, you should expect and indeed WANT creases ON THE UNDER SIDE. As you work around the corner, drive the vinyl perpendicular to the edge and pull and staple the created under-side creases a couple of times (staples are cheap).

What an excellent video! You are so pretty too, those beautiful eyes, very photogenic on camera. Interesting to see how this is done. I think we all have some reupholstering projects to do sometime in life. I have several chairs waiting patiently. I restored them on the wood frames, now just the seat covers. The tools are awesome and thanks to your tool video, now I know what quality tools to get, like CS Osborne. Many thanks for this series. You should switch to a $22 Wagner Heat Gun. If you hold a hair dryer so close to the material, you block air flow and damage the hair dryer. A heat gun has very air blowing and more heat so better for your project. It also costs less than a hair dryer and cheaper on power too. Hair Dryer 1875 watts cost $90 Heat Gun 1200 watts cost $22. fyi - Music is not pleasant to hear on demo videos. It hurts the ears and the monotonous drone is very annoying. Natural sound and silence are so soothing. No need to fill the silence with more noise. Very peaceful just to watch you, learn and reflect.
