One minor correction-At about 10:15 in this video, I misspoke, referring to a "U.S.-made Workmate". It was, of course, made in Brockville, Ontario, so I should have said "U.S.-market Workmate" or "North-American-made Workmate".
Hello sir My name is raanan and I have the workmate 79-001 type 5. I want to restore it and I need some help by learning about it like color, tools and any information that you can help me.i will appreciate it. thanks raanan
The first thing you should do is visit my website "h-frame.weebly.com" and find my page devoted to the Type 5, as well as much more about vintage Workmates. Then use the Contact link at the site to contact me. I will respond by email, and ask for photos of your Workmate, and we can discuss your restoration project. Thanks!
After seeing your photo, I can tell you that your Workmate is not a U.S. model 79-001, but the UK/European WM625 E05. As I explain in the video, the 79-001 Type 3 and 5 were two variations of the WM625 that were imported to the U.S. and relabeled as 79-001s. Yours is stamped "WM625" underneath the top, which tells us it was sold in the UK/Europe, not in the U.S.
