Welcome to Jahra, Kuwait - the city with the hottest ever recorded temperature on earth!
I went to Kuwait a few months ago, on the exact hottest day of the year, so I could see what life is like in the brutal heat!! How on earth can people survive and do their daily activities when it’s 55 degrees Celsius, or 140 degrees Fahrenheit outside? How can they eat? Sleep? Pray? Enjoy life?
I met up with my local friend, Sulaiman, and together we went on an adventure of a lifetime, from the urban city life to deep inside the desert on the Saudi border.
This is my favorite video of the year so far, and I hope you enjoy!!

Even dying from hypothermia is better, you stop feeling everything, then you feel warm, then you feel euphoria and you drift off to sleep (die lol). Dying from hyperthermia is just cooking alive at a temperature that isn’t even enough to “cook” you, a terrible feeling, sometimes preceded by hallucinations, and you pass in and out of consciousness through seizures

Nah. I live in Phx, AZ. We always get over 120 now every summer. I worked on the airport ramp where it regularly got to 135 around planes and concrete. Give me that any day over -10 and below. In 120 degrees you can still go to concerts (its' hot but I've been to many with a beer in hand!) go to the river, ect. In -20.... you stay inside all day, all night because it sucks too bad outside.

I used to live in Saudi Arabia when I was a kid and my parents would take us to the desert at night to enjoy the outdoors. First it's much cooler at night and that's when everyone is out and about but also the desert nights are so mesmerizing. I used to just sit there and stargaze, you got to stargaze in the clear dark desert skies. The stars will appear 10 times brighter and your world will just shrink a bit more. I loved it over there.

Using plants and vegetation to recreate a livable environment for others, all that under the heat of the desert? A true inspiration to many and a true icon of commitment, hardship, hope. For me, I would prefer the freezing cold over extreme heat. At least in a freezing cold environment, you can put on clothing to make yourself warm. Where as extreme heat will make you sweat a lot, meaning to drink more water, and being nuked by the scorching sun. I used to live in Arizona where the temperature can reach 120°F in the summertime, and when I've visited Alaska in January (And will be going again soon in the wintertime), the coldest was -40°F. Extreme heat + humidity makes it feel hotter. I prefer the dry heat over humidity mostly. Good video as always Drew! 🙂

@@Shaosprojects You need ice boxes when shopping for perishables in the middle of summer unless you go outside of peak hours and go straight back home. I hope one day my circumstances will be better to travel like this. Thanks for your videos, they have helped through some bad times

Just a small note from a Dutch person living in the Netherlands, these horses are called frysan, not freezes, named after a province called fryslan. They have their own language (recognized by the Dutch government) which they still use in their province. It’s one of the oldest Germanic languages still in use and old English is supposed to be similar to the Frysian language!
@martian9999
@martian9999 Год назад
you're right, but the English spelling is Friesian (for the horses) or Frisian (for the region). Us Germans, we call it Friesland (the place) or Friesisch (the language), for what it's worth. One world, peace!

I've been watching your channel for about a week. I've binged nonstop since discovering it. I am so moved by the kindness and warmth of people from different countries, cultures, races and religions. People are kind. Your channel has singlehandedly (in my case, anyway) restored my faith in humanity. This video, in particular, demonstrated not only that you can knock on a stranger's door in the middle of the night and be welcomed with open arms but even more beautiful, stranger's will come to you in the middle of the night and invite you into their home. There were no questions other than invitations to eat, drink and rest. The more videos I see of the the Middle East, the more I realize how drawn I am to the culture. The culture and people are so truly caring and inviting truly like one family.

This summer where I live in Queensland hasn't been too bad. For the most part it's been on average a top of 35°C and gets down to 30°C during the night. In saying that we've had a relatively dry summer compared to last year where we got hit with those floods for months on end and that brought a lot of humidity. So most days were around 35°C with 90% humidity which is unbearable imo.
