decided to try to revert back to the old pochmann method for both edges and corners to see how I went (spoiler alert: not as well as I thought I would :))

Jack honest comment here: its actually motivating to see someone as good as you failing at something. When cubing I sometimes have found myself believing I could never get to that time or to that point in cubing, but seeing you as someone 'normal' just makes me wanna push it harder and improve. I know you probably uploaded this as a joke video or something, but thanks for this. :)

For me the hardest part is remembering and figuring out how which edges and corners i still need to make a letter to remember for. I do good everywhere else just I have problems remembering not to repeat on the same pieces and not to forget to do an edge. I end up repeating the same edges without starting a new cycle.

How many methods are there to solve a cube blindfolded?
@kizyzo1348
@kizyzo1348 4 года назад
*Old Pochmann* which is beginner method for starters and then we have *M2, turbo, orozco, eka* which are inermediate method and finally there is *3-style* which is an advanced method for blindsolving. Note these are the popular ones among the blindsolvers in their respective categories.

The memorization is exactly what you need to memorize. Anyway, I started learning blind very recently and it gets easier. Firstly the location numbers with become second nature (at first I was reciting the alphabet trying to find what a location was called, this is distracting and slows you down). Then I was forgetting the corners while working out the edges... now I make a mental image for the corners and it seems to stay in my head. Next I was messing up perms when switching between them or messing up set up moves. Anyway its like everything else in cubing, with practice it gets easier.

It's so funny that you say you mess up the J and T perm blind. I just looked at a post I made on speedsolving 9 years ago, when I was first trying to blind solve using OP, and I apparently did the same thing at the time haha. It's strange because it seems like its so solidly in muscle memory, but apparently not.
@ajkuc

Wait is there different kinds of OP bc I only use t perms and y perms but he uses a j perm and a t perm?

It's still OP but with 2 additional helper/swap stickers so you don't need to do as many setup moves

I tried solving with this method for my first attempt at blindfold. I can never solve it. Then I tried skipping to 3-style. It took some time but I was able to solve it. Till this day, I still haven't solved it using Pochmann
@MC-nk8wr
@MC-nk8wr 3 года назад

@CrossfeetGaming
@CrossfeetGaming 3 года назад
@@MC-nk8wr first successful solve was at least 10+ mins of memo and 10+ mins of solving it. Earlier first attempts sometimes has a total of 30 mins. I'm slow and I wasn't exactly aiming for speed either.

@@CrossfeetGaming what method is easier to learn pochman or 3-style?
@CrossfeetGaming
@CrossfeetGaming 3 года назад
@@termsandconditions6234 personal opinion here, but I genuinely think 3-style is easier to learn. Sure, Poch uses algs you may already know if you are a speedsolver, but that's way too many repetitions and has too much of an overall move count. I found myself drifting in and out of consciousness and keep losing track during solves with his method. Muscle memory could only do so much. Also, if you're not efficient, you could end up with a 4 move-setup and 4-move undo (harder than it sounds. practice could solve this problem, but I was impatient) 3-style has no set of algs you could technically memorize, no muscle memory involved, but learning commutaters is easier than it looks and takes less moves to do. I found this easier to keep track of. Also, even with the most difficult set up, the worst you'll get through intuition is only a 3-move setup and undo (easier than the 4-move round trip. That being said, you still need to learn the lettering scheme (and words to associate them with), the position memorization (and setup), and parity (my dumbass took way too long to find out there's parity in a bld solve)
