In Korea, a lot of our compatriots expressed grief when they saw Thailand failed to capitalise from our gift. As much as I don't like Thailand due to their previous anti-Korean campaigns over tourist disputes a few months ago, I can only feel sorry for the Thais. Nuff said, we have a severe issue with our coaching staff. We have no new coach since January, we have alternated between two local managers. While this won't be a problem for us in this phase, it promised to be a big trouble for us in the next phase. We need a new coach quick, and he has a mission to stabilise the team. Unfortunately, with the corrupt Chung Mong-gyu in charge, I can't see if we are going to have a new manager on time.

As an Uzbek Norwegian, who have just travelled to Thailand for tourism, Thailand's failure is not something new for me. People like to pay attention to China's chronic football problems because it is a big nation. Yet Thailand's issue is far, far less discussed, but far worse. It has one of the best football leagues in Asia, but it functions in a very Mexican way, where Thai clubs overpay their foreign superstars (since Thai clubs are exceptionally rich by Asian standard). This helps Thai League to become one of Asia's best, but also hinders a lot of their potential as domestic players struggle to make up for their lost opportunities. Hell Thailand is sometimes referred as "Asia's Mexico". Unfortunately, the Chinese have realised their problems earlier than the Thais and, while still undergoing painful reforms, their decision to invite several Japanese football strategists (notably Tsutomu Takahata) have recently yielded some results for them.

Nigeria's downfall was such an immense. Narrowly missed out for the 2022 World Cup due to the controversial playoff defeat vs Ghana and also the 2023 AFCON title, they somehow were in 4th place of the group. Having a lot of good strikers, particularly Victor Boniface (who won the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen), Victor Osimhen (who won the Scudetto with Napoli), and Ademola Lookman (who scored a hattrick in Europa League Final with Atalanta) is not a great deal for Nigeria.

For Ghana, I also believe that their defense needs to improve. Yeah their attack is decent and at times they may miss chances, but the defensive aspect on the field of play is concerning. An example is when Otto Addo was coaching the team when they qualified for the World Cup in 2022. When they played against South Korea, it was 2-0 the 1st half. In the 1st 15-20 minutes of the 2nd half, the score was 2-2. A lot of the goals they concede are either from individual mistakes or poor defense. I wanna see our defense improve

CONCACAF: I think Guatemala really needs a World Cup for their own. They deserved it. Shame how they had faltered a lot to Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Honduras, Jamaica, Haiti, El Salvador and Panama. Still, this could be their time. Currently, I am living in the US and I seriously wish to see Guatemala in a World Cup. CAF: 1) Shocked by Nigeria's abysmal performance so far. They look like they don't want to play anymore. Four matches without a win, only three draws and one loss. Nigerians can say goodbye to World Cup now. 2) Sudan is the biggest surprise so far. Nobody considered them a worthy opponent, yet they are on top of the table, at least before facing Sadio Mane's Senegal. We'll see how far will they go but Senegal will want some redemption after a shock home draw to DR Congo. 3) Equatorial Guinea shot itself at the foot with an illegal player playing for them in 11 years. 4) Morocco and Egypt are too good for their groups. 5) Ghana is surprisingly in hot form at their World Cup qualification. They have an abysmal AFCON showing but they appear to be returning back to their true strength in WCQ. The fact that they even beat a strong team like Mali surely has a word. 6) Algeria sucks so much, but Guinea is worse. AFC: 1) Feel sorry for Indians after Qatar eliminated them by a ghost goal. Kuwait marked their return but it is unlikely that they will advance since they are basically the China before China. 2) Syria's own demise is as strange as their Asian Cup performance. They performed so well in Asian Cup but not in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. 3) Thailand seems unable to escape from their own mediocrity, or? South Korea is China's kryptonite, and China is Thailand's kryptonite, maybe? This can summarise everything up. 4) Uzbekistan has returned to their form and I think they have found new hope under Srecko Katanec. 5) Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan and Palestine marked their historic appearances in the final round. Can't see any of them going to make to the World Cup however. 6) UAE and Bahrain do not meet the right opponents on the table. They will be tested in the final round. UAE's current football crisis is going to be worse. 7) Jordan promises to deliver even more surprises. 8) Japan, South Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Australia, the Big Five, will have their own voices in the final round.

I reckon Iraq has a solid chance of qualifying for the World Cup this time, without needing to go through another round. It's not just because of the expansion, but also because they're hosting games in their own country for the first time since the 1960s. That's a massive advantage, and I don't think any other Asian team can beat Iraq at home. Plus, the team is young and getting better, with some amazing players coming back from long injuries. We could definitely top the group in round 3, just like we did in the Asian Cup and round 2 WC qualifiers, where we got a perfect 27 out of 27 points. We're the only Asian team to have done that! ❤

As a Peruvian, who himself is of Chinese and Japanese descent here, I can say China will have a lot of work to do. A performance so horrendous that China only sneaked to the third round by the virtue of head-to-head record against Thailand. China's shock 1-3 loss to Vietnam in the last WCQ was a major blow and we really need a total restructuring. Even if football is not the most popular sport in China (behind basketball), it is still among the most followed. I think China has found the right manager, and CFA's decision to give Branko Ivankovic's total autonomy in selection is another right choice. Hopefully China can at least occupy a playoff spot, since my Peru is, basically, in trouble during the CONMEBOL qualification phase.

As a Czech-Vietnamese myself, I think this exposed clearly the fragility of Vietnam's football system. There are only six really stable clubs in Vietnam, the rest lived entirely by state budget and they could fold anytime soon (there is one Vietnamese club even announced to fold by the end of summer 2024). This mismanagement prevented Vietnam, a football mad nation, from even achieving necessary football results. Of course, Vietnam's situation is not unique to only one country, it is widespread in Southeast Asia albeit under different circumstances, and a key reason why only Australia is regarded as the most serious and formidable AFF member (which is exceptionally painful because Australia isn't Asian) whereas the rest is regarded as not competitive or not good enough. This has led to a widespread anger about constant losses of football clubs in Vietnam and, for the first time, there is a serious discussion about implementing a North American-style league system, which mean no promotion and relegation for an infinitive period. The story of MLS, A-League Men and even Mexico's Liga MX have been discussed in Vietnam today, simply because Vietnamese football clubs always learn how to disappear faster than to sustain (sorry hombres, but I think Mexicans are not alone) - by abolishing promotion and relegation for a time period, clubs can start build up financial capability before they can become sustainable. Another thing I was so disappointed was the failure of the ASEAN to include Australia to the regional ASEAN Cup again. ASEAN agreed to include Australia to their group since 2013 but they forbade Australia from sending their senior national side. This has resulted in a huge loop in quality and reduction of capability. Still they again didn't want Australia in because Australia was seen as a culturally hostile nation. This attitude won't help improving football in Southeast Asia.

Can say the problem with Indonesia team are the individual mistakes and finishes, i know struick and marcelino are good player but their young and will improve over the time, but for now they need experience forward player like Tom Haye or Jay Idzes for balance in the front

Nigeria has midfielders and a creative one at that. You can talk all the crap you want but Iwobi is our creative outlet. The issue is that he can be inconsistent. The biggest problem is management, because without management you can't get the best tune out of players or enforce discipline when players are showing up late to camp or not giving it their all.

I am Tunisian, but have lived in the UAE for seven years, and is now moving to China for personal works, planning to settle in Chongqing or Chengdu. I would say the UAE's situation is worsening for me. They topped the table because the group did not have good teams, except Bahrain (which is mediocre), Yemen and Nepal are too weak. Their youth football situation is in an abysmal shape, no UAE youth teams have been able to advance to the recent youth competitions in Asia. Paulo Bento (current UAE coach) even claimed that the UAE is in a total, full-blown crisis. China is one of my upcoming destinations, alongside Japan. I feel really sorry to see China in this shape but their recent U19 and U20 successes and the good U23 team (which also beat the UAE in the U23 Asian Cup) seem to offer a glimpse of hope. For my country Tunisia, seems like the draw and the situation in the table did favour us. Equatorial Guinea was reduced of all two earlier wins after they were found to have fielded ineligible player... for 11 years. Now, all what we can do is to handle Namibia and Liberia.

10:38, no offence but Afghanistan has been knocking door for AFC Asian Cup qualification since the 2014 afc challenge cup, but for some reason we always seem to bottle it because of some internal disputes (in this case, a mass player boycott), this is the 4th time in a row now that we have bottled AFC Asian Cup qualification since reaching "AFC Asian Cup level". People need to look at the bigger picture, if Afghanistan had progressed to WCQ R3 then we would have attracted players like Jusef Erabi, Hussain Carneil, Nadiem Amiri, Wahid Faghir etc & formed a very strong team to compete in WCQ R3, unfortunately the referee's terrible decision making cost us the game. When you take the following into consideration then it becomes even more demoralising: • Kuwaiti defenders diving to win a free kick whenever Afghanistan get a chance in the box, e.g when Rahmat Akbari hit the post & could have scored of the rebound or at least Afghanistan could have kept the pressure. • Abdul Najim Haidary almost getting killed by Kuwaiti player doesn't even get booked when in reality the Kuwaiti player should have gotten a red card. • Kuwaiti players fanatically time wasting, whilst their fans throw bottles at our players to cause more time wasting & despite this, the referee blows the whistle whilst we were on the attack, before the game is even supposed to be over when there should be more time added to compensate for wasted time. • Many other examples but I'm too demotivated.

As a Saudi, I don't think we have problems after losing to Jordan and lost the first spot. We actually become more dangerous as a Pot 3 team instead of being Pot 1 or 2. Though I am certainly tired of seeing Japan and Australia in the same group each year. C'mon AFC, please don't put us against Japan and Australia again. We are looking for a rematch against South Korea, Iran, Qatar or Iraq. South Korea has a strong internet warrior culture, but their team is, in reality, weak and only relies on their superstars based abroad. Iran is more formidable but not invincible. Qatar is not powerful without their ability to naturalise Brazilian, Portuguese, Nigerian, Congolese, Algerian, Iranian, Moroccan and Egyptian mercenaries. Iraq will love to claim they are the best in Asia, a typical Iraqi behaviour that always planted the seed of their future disaster, and I love it.
