Or you can use the Cahill and Dymaxion projections. They are not useful for navigation like the Mercator projection but at least they don't stretch the countries.
As a kid I know about this so when my mom buys a map for my school I ask her whether Gall peters map or Mercator she says Mercator I get mad So I got clay and put it on countries then put the clay on paper and traced it and also the ocean so it will look accurate

@405 25 Exactly! The mercator projection preserves shape but not size. The gall-peters stretches and distorts it's shape. That is why every world map is wrong.
These are called projections and my favorite is the Winkel Tripel map, it’a more of an oval then a flat paper but it shows the true size AND shape of countries, but it still isn’t perfect, no map is perfect, that’s why I prefer to use a globe instead
One thing that maps also forgot: they forgot an unknown country called tuared. In 1954, a businessman was going to Toyoko airlines. The worker said to give him his passport. The reason the Gallpeters map is really distorted when you drew it was because if you look at the earth at one side you don’t see the whole top unless you at the top. So that’s why russia and Greenland looks really distorted but in reality it’s correct.
Also, the NCERT(National Council of Educational and Research Training), The School Book Publishing authority of India has also adapted to Gall-Peters Projection which is clearly visible in any of the maps in the book.
This map makes the countries furthest from equator huge because they have to draw the map as round, and when things are round some parts are bigger and some are smallers
