In a special episode to mark World Menopause Month, and ahead of World Menopause Day on 18 October, Dr Louise is joined by Dr Rebecca Lewis, co-founder of Newson Health.
Together they cover some of the most frequently asked questions about perimenopause, menopause and HRT, including:
• When should I expect symptoms to improve after starting HRT?
• How long can I take HRT for?
Plus advice on taking a holistic approach to menopause, tracking your symptoms, and talking to your healthcare professional.
Dr Rebecca also suggests three things women and healthcare professionals should consider about hormones:
1. Know there is a difference between older synthetic hormones and body identical, natural hormones
2. Be aware of the health benefits of HRT
3. The importance of shared decision making and patient-centred care.
You can download the balance app here: www.balance-menopause.com/balance-app/

55, USA. Diagnosed with VA in 2020. Thank God for Dr's that actually know what they're talking about regarding HRT. I've been suffering 4 years. Proper help is hard to come by.

Fantastic information as always. What I’m hearing is that at an annual check up, beginning at around age 40, all women should be asked questions about their menstrual cycle and any bothersome symptoms then given information on the benefits of hormones. I wish my regular GP would have enough knowledge in hormones and prescribe them so I could see her instead of paying out of pocket for the clinician at the midlife women’s clinic.

If only our GPs listened to these Instagram and RU-vid posts, they'd be much better informed, and their patients would be treated much more effectively 😊xx

So true: (Peri-)Menopausal care should be the ART of individualizing trearment based on SCIENTIFIC evidence.🙏

I wish more doctors showed the level of "professional curiosity" that you display ! Many of the doctors that I saw for (peri-)menopause care displayed " professional ignorance" 😉😓🤬

Hello, so the chemical name for estrogen is 17 beta oestradial? Is it the UK chemical name? My patches have an estradiol , USP hemihydrate, I’m in US- is that the same bio identical hormone?

What do you do if your gynecologist doesn't understand or know about the new research! I started hrt in may and felt amazing. For about a month, my symptoms have been back slightly so I went back to my doctor who said there's nothing she could do. I'm going to stay on my dose for 5 years and then we just stop it altogether! She just shut me down!

@@rebeccapinto9926 in Canada and the US you can search the North American Menopause Society website for a clinician trained in menopause care in your area. In the UK: The British Menopause Society and in Australia: Australasian Menopause Society.

Hello dr.after my surgery it’s been a year total hysterectomy Iam on 100 mg dose of hurt patch my right side of stomach hurts what could it be factors have no answers 😢 need help
@Katepwe
@Katepwe 6 дней назад
It could be complications from surgery, like scar tissue. Instead of a patch you could try an estradiol cream or gel that is applied everyday and an oral progesterone.

Dose this mean if you stop talking hrt after years of being on hrt you’re menopause symptoms will come back?

For some women, unfortunately, yes. And within a few weeks you lose all the benefits of bone protection plus the assets for brain, heart and sleep 🤷🏻‍♀️ Good news is: Modern HRT is extremely safe, will protect you from various diseases and there is no good reason why you should go off it.
@Katepwe

Possibly yes, because menopause is really a state of hormone deficiency. It’s like having high blood pressure. You take medication and it improves, it hasn’t gone away, you always have high blood pressure, but now it’s controlled.
