As soon as I heard Jingles talk about unusual Monty builds I immediately thought "secondary build."

"I'm really struggling to think of an occasion where it would be useful" - when someone you're not looking at shoots at you from long distance, you can start maneuvering to try and avoid the shots.

Actually, imo, the incoming fire alert is very useful. Imagine you are kiting away in a cruiser, you have that flanks enemies in your field of vision. What if another ship from another flank decides to shoot you? That incoming fire alert would be so useful, especially when you know that none of the ships in your FoV has shot you.

Advantage of triple dd division is that you overwhelm the single dd you bump into - if teams were able/willing to support individual dds this wouldn't be a problem but quite often theres only one dd on a team now anyway, in which case 3 dds can easily punch through/roll up an area if there's no radar (as happened in the first video). It opens up lots of tactics - cross torping, ambush etc. Bear in mind dds rarely operated alone in real life. I think Jingles missed something in the second video too - the radar minotaur said he was saving his radar for the smolensk, the smolensk was friing from behind island cover until the minotaur comes out ambushes him and takes him out first shot, even if he'd not though the mino could have radard him. He'd have had to run early enough to stay out of radar range of a ship he couldn't see....

The way i see Benson... looks like Laffey. Laffey is a Benson class destroyer, problem is she drinks too much Cola.

I do like incoming fire alert on my Japanese cruisers. Allows me to focus somewhere else and still not get instantly blapped

I really like using a secondary build on my Monty, randos don’t expect it and it makes the ship dangerous at any range. Plus unlike the floating superstructure that everyone knows to stay away from aka the Kurfürst, people like to brawl Monties. In ranked I’d agree to go survivability but in pubs it’s a lot of fun.

I run a secondary Monty build as well mainly because its fun when I put him in the Massachusits, Atlanta, and somtimes my Sims, and never really noticed a difference with the "normal" monty captain, or at least a difference enough to want to swap back

Hey Jingles the destroyers call it the “CONVOY.” The way that they are set up is to cover up the other’s weaknesses. Lightning, for hydro and quick smokes (their get out Jail-card basically.) Harekaze, for spotting and torp range. Bensen, for American smokescreens. Also all of them are set up for DPM as to try and outgun anything and everything that spots them (I’ve seen them out gun a half-health Mass that was in secondary range), that DD division has won around about 80-90% of the games that they have tried that kind of combination in.... so is it still stupid? Although one good radar can completely screw it up that is granted for and it happened to me when I tried out the “WOLFPACK” (Kidd, Bensen, and Harekaze division) with hailsteve and MajorAlfred, but we still have managed to win most of our games. Surviving on the other hand, ~eh that a different story. Now that I’ve said my piece, **picks up pick-axe** back to Salt Mines I go! What’s that? “Triple shifts until my back breaks or I’m in a coma?” aye, sir.

A more accurate version of the saying is "If it's stupid but it works, it's still stupid, you just got away with it this time" :P.

The "incoming fire" captain skill is far from being one of the most useful out there for sure, but it's a viable option for captains of nimble kiting light cruisers and DDs to have advanced notice that a salvo is currently headed your way and will be arriving nearby in the next 4+ seconds, so you better change your course and/or speed in some way to try and dodge the shot. You're supposed to be in a squishy light cruiser kiting enemy BBs with your HE at range from 15km+ and you have a lightning fast rudder shift setup, so every time that incoming fire indicator pops up you simply steer hard left or right or slow down or speed up etc. etc. I used to experiment with using it on certain cruiser builds when I was more of a noob, and it can be useful but you quickly realize that 1 captain pt. is better spent elsewhere.

I seem to do a lot of stupid playing this game, sadly it almost never works.

I use priority target in my scharnhorst because I can start maneuvering to avoid the shots the moment they're fired. And when i'm scharnhorst rushing up close everyone will be aiming at me, that's a given

I specked my Monty into a secondary build before the secondary meta ships (i.e. German BB’s, Alabama, and Massachusetts). But I’ve always had fun with and never had issues cause they’re such rapid firing guns. A gearing once popped out at 5 km and was immediately torn to shreds. He replied in the battle message: “monty...I didn’t know your secondaries were so crazy”. And I still have fun with it. XD

Well, actually jingles, you can sacrifice the aiming system module (aka accuracy) in the third slot if you REALLY want long range secondaries. Although, the aiming module already provides a small buff to secondaries, so it's your choice.

Jingles, I want to know if anyone else has experienced what appears to have happened to me a couple of days ago. I got awarded nearly a month of Premium Serice for different accomplishments and some good luck. I left one day with 14 days of premium left and returned 2 days later expecting 12 days of Premium remaining to find only 4 days remaining. Anyone else have this experience? Love your vids. This guy does not have priority target activated, otherwise there would be a number, right? The "detected" information is displayed by default. The incoming fire alert has always been for shots fired from more than 4.5km, so nothing new. Sorry Jingles ;)

Incoming fire indicator is so you can dodge incoming fire like you can dodge torps. They fire. You turn. They miss. You slow to a crawl because you turned. They fire again hit and kill you. That's how it works. Also triple destroyers is like triple Lyon. You have 1 big destroyer with 30 torp tubes and can ripple fire all day long. Most powerful combo in the game

maybe, if you don't make your cruisers and battle ships hard spot their own targets while being spotted by enemy destroyers they might have killed something. Also DD torps, even if they do not impact, are still impactful, and the mere threat of them do force evasive maneuvers, slowing progress and stopping ships from preventing the profile they want to your team's guns, giving your team time and options. .... I couldn't say for sure since my computer crapped out even before the carrier rework, and I only made it up to tier 8, so I don't know if radar in mid-high tier games now makes DD spotting worthless or not, but either way, if they would have done that, we would not have gotten to facepalm at it. Just my opinion, feel free to disagree and or correct my way of thinking since I do admit I do not know the meta very well any longer. Also for the grammatical Kriegsmarine among you, yes, I know there is a huge problem with my sentence structure. All of my upper tier USN, SMS, IJN, and RN BBs are secondary builds or least partial secondary builds. It's amazing how many DDs you can shred when they don't expect a North Carolina to be able to hit them with secondaries. The secondary battery of every ship that has them in this game is terribly nerfed. It's a shame because the secondary battery is a huge part of what made an artillery ship dangerous to other ships.

Love taking out my Atlanta when my bestie is on his Mass or my Akatsuki and his Enterprise. So much fun to spot and get NICE full-salvo torpedo hits. XD I took out 3 ships at once like that. XD forget what ships they were.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, actually Jingles knowing you're being shot at *from far enough away to DOGE those shell hits, and that you might not see in time,* kinda.... helps you not take damage. Just saying, it's a very odd concept in a game where everything is Attrition and RNG based without real ways to heal damage long term, but..... Not getting hit helps. ^_>

Had a game today on two brothers. Guy called me useless because I hid behind one of the islands. Well I hid because I was in a spot where hood is hard to hit. And there were so many targets. Once they pushed further down. Then I started going middle to hit there rear. The title guess applies here lol

4 shells. So, it can't be the Yamato. Then it's the Henri. Wait - when did Henri loose its triple turrets!? Aiming for the ammunition hoits on the Yamato? No, you don't. At that angle you aim a bit longer and a bit more to the front to punch through the angled citadel. He didn't. Complete potato aiming. That is why he didnt just delete the Yamato there. And why did he not shoot the broadside Stalingrad!? I would never have gone for the Yamato in that situation...

I usually enjoy warships videos but when’s there too much talk about team play in random I either have to mute the sound or skip the video. Warships is far more fun when folk stop stressing over “team play “ and others trying to bark orders at strangers, madly clicking the damn map. There are no teams in random, just a bunch of strangers out for their own interests. Sorry, jingles, seeds rejected.

Maybe Theoden never bothered to switch his captain over from back when he was the captain of Theoden's North Carolina... that ship works well with at least SOME secondary build, primarily because those secondaries are more effective at tier 8.

I was doing some casual research, and I think there is only two Tier 10 Battleships that wouldn't really benefit from the Secondary Build. I mean, that doesn't mean its the BEST method or strategy. But It can and does work.

I think I figured out why the dark orange "Incoming" notification only goes off for shots beyond 4km. Because it's only for shots you'd reasonably have time to dodge. Theodin turned his ship some of the times when that notification went off, probably not always paying attention to it. There's no time to dodge incoming if you're busy scanning the horizon for incoming. It removes human error from the equation so that time can be spent changing the expected location of your ship when the shots arrive. .

It's always funny when people get precious about someone using a sub-optimal build. Maybe they're just realising what you're not - that they are playing a game. You know, something that doesn't actually matter for anything beyond having some fun! And no, it's not a team game, it's an individual game. Those who think it's a team game are those who are perpetually disappointed for unrealistic reasons. Just look at the number of personal combat missions you have, for a start, then try to say it's a team game with a straight face. There's very little reason to care about the team on the whole.

Hey Jingles. Not a warships expert here but I would think that if you got the warning you were being fired upon from long range and you were on the ball. Couldn't you just change your heading slightly at that point and avoid the incoming fire? A little zig and zag?

Just wanted to add that knowing when someone is firing at you from over 4.5km away can be very useful for the opening battleship duels at long range. It lets you know if you're being targeted down before any shells start landing, and means you can break off and manoeuvre, avoiding getting blapped before the battle has truly begun. Found that out the hard way 😂

Its funny, that first replay is a basically what Oddball (the same one who played 121 WoT on Jingles feat.) and I fast capped yesterday on Highway and had to fight a few tanks and still somehow managed to cap, sent replay to jingles and hope he does a video on it because we were screaming in fear whole time. Too bad audio is not available lol

Actually Jingles... A secondary build WILL have worse accuracy because you don’t have the two upgrades that improve accuracy in slot 3 and 6

Secondary builds are a lot of fun. It's a shame it's so hard to get close enough in a battleship to use them these days. You're more likely to end up burned to death or torpedoed by a smoke huffer. They want battleship players to push when they're so slow and difficult to maneuver that they're going to get zeroed in seconds if they do. Personally I think destroyers should have a finite amount of torpedoes so they have to think about their use rather than spamming them every time they're off cooldown. Maybe rather than a limit, they have a recharge like carrier planes. I'm sick of having to sit back and watch the little idiots spam torpedoes until one team has a single destroyer left, which will probably then win the game.

It may not be the competitive build, but it is one that I think has some strengths. Partially because nobody expects it and your secondaries are fast firing and armored. US 127mm turrets have more survivability than german secondaries, so they last longer.

So I was bored. Mr. Jingles between World of Tanks and World of Warships you have used this title 8 times with a ninth titled 'If Its Stipid'. I think you may have reach the point where you should turn the title into a series.

As far as US secondary builds go Montana is quite a lot better than the other tech tree ships as pulling it off, her secondaries fire much faster and have really high fire chance and alpha damage. You’re better off picking Ohio in nearly every situation if you’re doing that though.

14:32 same thing with the Asia server, though the thing is while you may be able to make out some words in the EU server, other languages appear as boxes in the chat in the Asia server so you have absolutely no clue

DDs playing together can share incoming dmg and spot for each other to secure kills on enemy dds. Because often enough your teammates do not shoot the spotted enemy DD, neither use their radar to help you. You just can´t rely on random teammates. Taking out enemy DDs is first priority, then spotting for strangers.

The point of the new Incoming Fire alert is that at long range, it takes a while for the shells to arrive. It lets you know when there's a shot you might be able to dodge-especially as a destroyer. If the fire alert went off for all incoming shots, there'd be no point.

I'd be curious to see how much HP the remaining friendly cruiser had left. If he'd died, they would have lost by going to zero.

thats retarded i thougth ti was first to 1k points wins? so they can cap both bases but still had to get 1k points? i havent played in a long time but thats a pretty cheesy way to win...i can see this being like world of tanks now alot of people will not reset cap sad really. then this stuff happens my first thought was these guys are cowards leaving the rest of their team out to dry and they end up getting a win for it does seem pretty stupid to me

This title needs to become a new Series, Like the Good, Bad and Ugly, for as many times as you have brought it up.
