I was wondering why those supposedly AP shells looked so much like HE shells in flight...

When jingles said: "he's only set 2 fires, personally I think he's been short changed..." What? From firing AP rounds? 😂

Yeah, and the carrier rework has been especially hard since the AA is now, like almost all other AA, pretty worthless.

Community whines about everything and is often wrong.

The main reason the zao has been power creeped is due to the amount of 457mm guns in the game now. As 457 overmatch most of the zaos troll armor and can punch into the citadel due to this. I got a wee uad citadel in my ohio the other day at an angled zao. Something that wouldn't have been done with 406mm guns.

Plenty other ships have been more power creeped...Zao is fine, its gimicks are still in place... Gearing used to be a good gunboat DD...every DD line released has since included incrementally better gunboats, for example.

As a Zao player I'm actually with Jingles on this one- I'm averaging 120k in this thing, or 160k in ranked (arms race helps that of course) so either it's a great ship or I'm a great player...let's be honest only one of those is likely! ☺

That's why their torps are nice to look at, but relative crap underneath.

Yes. I dont get where Jingles gets his facts. If u look at the numbers there is no other tier X ship in the whole game that gets played less these says than the Zao.

@@cshan2313 Graf is built from examinations of Akagi. You can't built a fully working Carrier from scratch without previously gaining experience from experimental Carriers you know.

@@spookyshark632 Don't remember the exact name - had to complete five challenges to get it. Added something like 0.8 km to my range (to 17.5 km, I think) - had to give up faster gun reload to install that, it goes into the same slot.

And becuz all of these lucky moments Jingles still thinks its a ship that didnt suffer from ppwer creep and is still competitive.

Zao i would say, is one of worst on his level. After playing a while with legendary mod... everyone is slapping Zao, Moskva dont even need to move, slapping me from any distance with her AP, angled or not ! Also DPM is better than Zao. Demoin, can just burn me to hell and land 3 salvos of AP before i just shoot one ! And i cant do nothin to this guys, while they sitting behind islands, yes i can ignite them, but this need too much time i take to kill one of them. Everyone has better DPM than Zao... Torps are in most cases useless, because almost everyone in random knows about them and that much ships running hydro. AA is one of worst, maybe the worst of all cruisers on Tier X. So what ... As soon you become visible, everyone BB and cruisers trying to shoot @ Zao because they remember "Ahh, Japanese cruiser, glas citadel, easy damage !" ... Only good thing is consealment, but if a DD spotting you whole time, you become targen for practically everyone.

@@heardistance The torps have been a frustration for me too (i love zao), my best hits are random destroyer passing by's, almost never the target or targets i aim for, everyone knows them, everyone dodges them and its almost crystal clear when you fire them since you have to go broadside during combat, unless you do it undetected, but even then they rarely hit since you cant afford to get close enough to take advantage of that. Also, i find them too slow for emergency situations and too low range for actually hitting anything. I almost consider to ditch them for the 8km ones since these will actually matter when you really need them because they are so much faster and you can actually surprise someone chasing you at 10-12km (many try that) The bad thing is you really cant 1v1 anything except destroyers willing to make themselfes detected and some cruisers under conditions. Sometimes you can kill higher dpm ships if your first 1-2 salvos are good cause it will force to turn and fire only one gun at you. Most battleships require excellent precision of your shells since your HE cant penetrate anything else than their towers and you cant sit safe behind islands to farm them, the range you have to sit in order to be somewhat safe means they have the time to even outmaneuver them. You can 1v1 the battleships your HE can penetrate thoughout and even some of the others but prepare for 5 minute fights and some precise maneuvering plus luck to not get overmatched. It seems to me that zao works only when enemies are pushing, which usually means they are winning or they are stupid, which puts you on a possition to rely on what the enemy does, not what you will do and your sneaky plays to take advantage of consealment and stealth torping will usually end in disasters due to rpfs, radars or planes detecting you. I have only managed to stealthtorp early in te game effectively ONCE in around 200 games.

Venezia, Hindenburg, and Yoshino can all fill similar roles to Zao, but are also more versatile.

Zao was my 1st T10 and still my favourite ship in the game. It's just so ridiculously consistent, plus with rudder mod, the concealment and all those torps, it's like sailing a DD- albeit one with torp angles that will get you deleted if anyone shoots, so they're best used when hidden or when kiting a BB who you know has just fired.

Probably against people running fire prevention and are you switching your aim so you're not just shooting at your existing fires? One downside of having insanely accurate guns is that unless you switch your aim you'll only ever hit the same spot and start 1 fire.

@@ApothecaryTerry I switch the aim but sometimes I just have bad aiming but still Every third game in my Zao I cant get fires and im targeting battleships that used their damage con once I fired at a bismarck that dmgconned 6 salvos and besides good he dmg no fires but sometimes you just BBQ everyone but at least it inspired me to use more of that great ap you can devistate almost Every cruiser in the game

@@mkkttmttr3401 The AP is pretty awesome, true ☺ While BBs give more fire dmg, they also tend to run fire prevention more- cruisers like Moskva and Stalin are my favourite things to roast in Zao.

LooxGood Yeah man. I quit WoT as they released the Defender and other ‘I’m and IS3 but better in every way’ premiums and quit wows as tier 9-10 prems came out cos I could see where this was going.

I decided to take a rest from WoWS and permanently quit WoT. I can't bear the gold ammo in WoT and thus decides to migrate to WoWs because at the time WoWs were really good. But the recent development of WoWs makes me question the future of this game since it looks like WoWs is taking the same path as WoT.

I quit WoT a few years ago due to their blatant pay-to-win strategy in premium ammo, horrible economy game and soviet napkin sketches. I've been less than impressed with how WOWS' last clan wars and ranked seasons have been looking. CV has no place in competitive gameplay IMO, it's gameplay is so fundamentally different that you can't rebalance on a ship-to-ship basis. Following WG's *suspect* additions of soviet BBs, Smolensk and the new cruiser split, I'm starting to see a trend similar to WOT roughly 4 years ago. Add the drydock ships they're giving us (or rather, the drydock missions), and I see a lot of flaws in their balancing and marketing strategies.

I dunno I was in a Halland going against a couple ships when out of nowhere a spread of torpedos was coming at me luckily I was on the other side of the cruiser I was attacking and he took all of them all courtesy of his DD team mate who was trying to sink me. LOL
