One of my mods - you know who you are! - loves requesting games in Tier VII Premium American battleship USS Florida, because he knows how little I think of the ship. This might genuinely be the first time I enjoyed playing her. I've come to understand (through a mix of experience and coaching) that Florida is a ship that you have to constantly be swapping ammo types with, looking for targets of opportunity. I do a lot of both in this game on Trident and the results surprised me.

Florida is great when it's not up tiered. Love the accuracy, usually. AP can be amazing, but armor on ship really sucks.

Catching up on your older posts . . . - On the subject of ships that tier-up well, what are the half-dozen or so best VI or VII cruisers and destroyers that tier up well?

For T6 and T7 destroyers, the answers are pretty easy: anything with decent detection (6.0 or less). Shiratsuyu is a good example, as is Haida and a few others. For cruisers it's a tougher question. My default is to say "anything with a heal", but that's still a fairly short list (the British lights and heavies, Maya, a smattering of others). The reality is much more complex than that. Myoko, for example, up-tiers wonderfully. She already has the health pool of a T9 ship, and her HE DPM is barely behind that of Ibuki (before upgrades). She is missing the heal, but beyond that her differences from Ibuki are fairly minimal.

@@SeaRaptor Makes sense. Fiji and Edinburgh seem good a tier up but maybe not two tiers. Colonel Bolognesi is the same for me. Surrey has the larger guns that help at upper tiers and a heal, but I have trouble up tiering with Algerie which is a ship I like 'cause of the Reload and Engine Boosts. Thinking 'health' makes sense. Food for thought. Thanks, Raptor.

@@SeaRaptor I have a fair number of ships (British and Pan-American) with Heals, but most have 6 inch guns and I am leaning towards something that thumps when she hits. The Japanese cruisers and I have a love-hate relationship, however, as my birthday approaches . . . I went and got the Maya. Short a turret, but with the spicy addition of a British-style Heal and a French-style Reload Booster . . . she seemed a good fit for what I wanted.
