They give players options. That's a good thing, not "a LOT more extra steps." I'll explain. You can just spend Free XP. Don't even have to buy the ships each time back through the line, until you want to collect all the regrind points you've earned. For people who don't have, or don't want to spend, the Free XP to buy the whole line, they can play the ships as normal. That's the option. If you remember being able to trade Free XP directly for ships, you remember they cost 1 million or 2 million Free XP each. Since resetting a line costs about 600k Free XP, and we get double points, a RB ship is about 1.5 million Free XP. That's not a lot more.

@@j_tayloryour math is a bit off, but your point stabda, I reset Harugumo line regularely (full grind is 671k FXP), I only use 255k FXP to get to Akizuki and than its a fun grind through Aki and Kita. I usualy do it every moth, but it only takes me about 3 days with green boosters if I full grind, or if I am relaxed, 7 days.

I have been here since almost the start and never have done RB but always wondered how much FXP it cost. This is the first I have ever seen of the cost. As for FXP ships cost, back then it was less than 1 million, I have a few of those ships. Thanks for info.

I've had it for one year, and I have multiple tier 10 teaching ships and both the Ohio and Slava. Join an active fun clan, it helps make it fun.

You can also stack up those resets indefinitely, meaning you reset the line for 2x, research it without buying the ships and reset it once again you get 2x. This way you can save a lot of credits and when there's a good opportunity to get the ships you want and also save some credits, you finally buy and play the ships to get those points. You can end up with 8x by the end of the year on one line and because you only buy the ships once, you cut the cost by a lot.

Do you have to research each ship in the line the first time or just the tier 10 ship? I've never done a reset before. Don't want to screw myself. Everyone always says "just do this and this and this." Easy when you've done it before but when you've never done it or even seen it done it's a little hard to follow.

Once you reset the line you must re-research each ship of the line

You reset the line and then go to the tier 10 ship and research it but dont buy It. Once you have enough Free XP you reset the line again and research the tier 10 ship. This will stack your resets. When you want to get the research points of those resets now you need to buy the ships and play them. Theres plenty of videos so you can visually see it and make sure you dont mess something but its pretty straight forward

@@vivekpatel3752 yes but if you have enough free xp you can research the line several times to stack the research point. Then you buy each ship to do one battle in each to gain the research point of several reset. That way you dont have to buy the ships again and again

I reset with the 2X bonus the day before the bonus is available again, free xp back to tier 10 without buying any ships, then wait a day and reset the line again. After both resets I play a single co-op game with no commander to get the 4X bonus on each ship and free xp the rest back to tier 10.

I appreciate your videos, and one like this where you talk warmly about the Ohio. However i believe one of the most unique ships in the game, the druid, is a interesting ship, since it holds a sort of niche position, due to the combination of ship characteristics and build possibilities, it would be nice with a video around those more niche ships, which often seems to be forgotten in the game :)

This is good advice, but two things would make it a bit more helpful - 1) how much Free XP does it take to actually reset the Harugumo line, and 2) video showing how to actually do the reset.

To answer your question, it takes 676k free XP to reset the line. To reset, you'll first need a minimum of five tier 10 tech tree ships in your port. After that, you'll gain access to the research bureau in the armory. at the bottom of ship line, you'll see a button that reads "reset".

Thanks for showing what ships are in the RB. I just haven’t taken the time to do this since I’m just a casual player and it never seemed worth it. I have the Vermont and majority of the games I play my Vermont smashes the Ohio and Vermont has a fast heal as well. Now I know stat wise Ohio is far superior but in my experience whoever can lay down a lot of damage quickly wins. Vermont has 12 457s that do a lot of damage in one salvo vs Ohio’s 8. It’ll take less salvos to kill the Ohio vs him trying to kill the Vermont

Haragumo line is the cheapest to reset. I reset it every three months with free XP only when it’s worth x 2 points. If you can forgo having that ship for a while it’s a quicker way to save RB points. Otherwise spend your free XP points in levelling your captains to lvl 21 so they can start earning free captain XP.

I reset the Haragumo or Shimikazi with the 2X bonus the day before the bonus is available again, then after it changes, I reset the other. They split at tier 5 so it is "two-for-one" up till that point. I do this a lot and so prefer to conserve my free XP. I just use it to grab a critical module along the way (usually torps). By now, I have good (or better) captains all along the way. Goes like butter. Before they let you re-play a ship still in game, it was especially nice: bounce back and forth between them.

Definitely going for the USS OHIO! Almost there at over 56,000 RB points! Also I spent 10,000 steel on MAD OF STEEL camo and put it on my Montana, now it’s a tier 10 Premium ship, because it comes with the bonus package. Good video SLM! o7

Colbert looks hilarious to me. Glass cannon that must be played paranoidly due to low health pool, but insane dpm when attacking. Van Spiejk actually has much higher game performance due to turtleback cit and consistent damage from airstrikes. Thanks for the guide to farming Research Bureau points!

I reset two lines again and again: Harugumo and US light cruisers (Dallas, Helena, Cleveland,...). The Harugumo line then is researched with Free XP as soon as I have collected enough while I like to play through the US cruisers. (It helps that I like the play style and that I have camouflages + bonus packages for all of them since the cruiser line split many years ago.)

US light cruisers is my goto regrind tree. Favourite Tech Line ship (not T10) is Helena. If she had just 2 torps each side she would be perfect.

But the grind is more painful. Pure torpboat with slow torp reload and awful guns is bad for the current meta full of subs, radar,cv etc... And the T5-7 of the gunboat line...are unironically better torpboat than the T5-T7 of the torpboat line (Akatsuki's concealment is so bad while Shiratsuyu is one of the few T7 DD that outspot Kitakaze)

@@xxxthwagdrakexxx4672 Sorry but 7.2km base conceal (6.44km with CE) is awful for a torpboat. Almost all T8 gunboat outspot you (even Le Fantasque) and most dangerous T9 gunboat (Kitakaze, Friesland) also outspot you... and even a lot of T7 gunboat. Sacrificing concealment just to get 1 torp isn't worth it... (and Shira can sacrifice smoke to get a torp reload booster)

@tsu7206 akatsuki is leagues more fun hunting bbs, battle cruisers or cruisers in general and akatsuki also has better gunpower if I recall. Its not "just one torp" when the akatsuki is 4+ knots faster making it better for disengaging and finding/hunting targets especially if you're following a bb the extra speed allowing you to get into closer torp ranges faster than shira could hope for and escaping quicker if for whatever reason the ships decide to turn into you. The triple torp launchers have more narrow spread than the quads and the fact you can hit 3 individual targets or hit 3 different spots individually also lends itself to feeling like a better more accurate torp boat as well. Even if the concealment is rough I find akatsuki more fun to play with than shira that I abhore

I use the Shima line for resets because it leads into the Yamagiri which I have. Harugumo line stops at T10. I use here for dockyard and other missions to get as many hits as fast as possible. Gibraltar is very low on my list because it melts with AP from DD's due to the massive superstructure.

I'm at Tier 6 (Farragut) on my second reset of the US DD line. My goal is to get the Unique upgrades on a few of my Tier 10 tech line ships to help make me more effective when joining in Clan Battles. My first reset was for the Clan...and I picked up the Unique Upgrade for the Moskva...since that's what the Clan keeps tasking me to play. My current reset is for me and my goal is the Unique Upgrade for the Khabarovsk. After that, I plan to reset again for the Clan to get the Des Moines upgrade, and my fourth reset will be for me to get the Gearing upgrade. I hope to have all that completed June of 2025 based on it taking me six-months to finish my first reset. Many of my Clan mates suggested, as you have, to "go for the Ohio." Then they watched me play Kremlin...the Soyuz...the Vladivostok...poorly...and changed their tune. My cruiser and battleship grinds are built on the back of Defeats. Great video. Wish you would have gone deeper into how to Free XP through the grind to treble and quadruple the RP's in the end...but I think there are other contributors who have already covered that ad nauseum. Ohio, Colbert, Vampire, Druid. The Solo Emilio is a one trick pony that gets wasted by hydro most of the time. After those I use the research points to purchase signals while grinding thru for whatever they put next.

playing the techlines again - some of them anyway - is actually good fun and a great way to really get the best out of ships you prob free-xped or raced through the first time of playing. i have gotten all of the RB ships now, just adding Sicilia this week. and i have tier 6 ship commanders with a dozen skills. its a good way to git gud on midteir ships with a better commander .. i prefer tier 8 in anycase and hardly ever play my tier x ships , the matches are usually dreadful there! . it doesn't take very long to work through a techline either - using xp bonuses.

Did as you said: reset Harugumo line and did not purchase as I wanted to reset again. Noticed the '2x' that was on all the lines is now gone. When trying to reset again its only at the 1X rate for this and all the other lines. Seems like you get the '2X' only once.

I got my Gearing upgrade the old way ie through a mission chain. Which way do you think is better to get them, the chains or having to do the research grind? I must admit, when I finally managed to get the upgrade I got a great sense of achievement :~)

I got the DM upgrade through the missions too and I much preferred that way of getting them. The Research Bureau just feels like a cheap way to get people to grind more. I mean, resetting progress in a game like this? Come on. I did end up resetting the Montana and Hindenburg lines at some point to get the upgrades for Khabarovsk and Moskva, and those 2 are definitely worth it, but it was still really tedious. Missions were 100% more fair.

I finally got Ohio from RB about a month ago and have been using her in asymmetric battles and all I can say is GOOD GOD her guns are impressive and unlike Thunderer she can actually tank some damage.

Is it worth to do line reset as a new player? Im fairly new to the game and don't have a lot of resources, i just unlocked my 5th line of ships with the Des Moines and im still giving it thought if it's worth to reset any of the lines

Thats up to you if you want a RB ship. you might want to do what I have been doing. Reset the Haragumo line without buying the ships. You just reset the line and research the haragumo it will cost around 670k freexp. Then continue reseaarching other lines or playing the game until I have another 670k free xp. I reset the haragumo line again and research the haragumo. This will stack the resets. Once I have 6 resets I can now buy the ships and play them to get the research bureu points and buy the ship I want.

1. get the Haragumo line done and only reset this line due to being the cheapest. 2. wait for 700k, 1400k or 2100k free xp. Then reset at x2, x3 or x4 every 3 months. ( i think it is just over 680k free xp for resting the line.) 3. Join a clan that has the extra 5% bonus for research bonus pts. so one rest is 10200 and that is over 500 more pts per x1 Figure 4 x2 rests in a year are 20200 each or 80800 and 4040 for clan bonus. So 84840 pts a year. Now if you can do 12 or 13 resets a year, crap

The Ohio secondary build is a beast. My highest damage games are all in Ohio (I'm a very shit player) like if I'm gonna 300K damage it is in Ohio, - I'f I' gonna get 500 hits in a game it's gonna be in Ohio. It really is awesome. My second RB ship was HMAS Vampire - because I am an Aussie and HMAS Vampire visited my home city's port a number of time when I was a kid and Dad took us for a look (the RAN used to let people tour docked vessels), so I have an emotional attachment to Vampire. And I think it's actually a pretty fun ship. Super high rate of fire and fun torps (although it could do with a second rack or fish). Next on my list is Sicilia I think. Looks fun. A secondary buildable BB with Italian smoke - what more could you ask for? OK you could ask for hydro. Hydro would be awesome but probably make it OP...

Im at 9 resets and getting free XP to do 1 more reset. Im planning on getting my first RB ship which will be the Ohio. Im not sure If I want to go for 2 unique upgrades like the one for yamato and another one or save the points for another ship.

I always reset battleship lines and regrind them even if I have millions of free xp. I just use that to unlock the upgrades. I hate playing destroyers and light cruisers (because I'm bad at it and don't need a bunch of angry no-lifers reporting me the whole time). Next ship I'm getting is the Sicilia because it looks fun and that's all I care about.

and theres me who only plays dd and got perma banned from an account (i have others now) with 57 t10s (took a fair while tbf, but its just report after report). dont really care anymore. only takes me a couple of weeks to grind a line and can still outplay 99% of players without even trying. the game is a fucking joke. the last 2 games yesterday.......got reported for going forwards and doing a dd job and getting killed because their dd had support (not a line of bbs at the back of the map). next game got a kraken and 200k xp in ranked! no compliment...................oh the fun you can have. will be back working on my next chat ban from tomorrow, cos the morons sure hate facts and WG dont give a toss.

Since getting the Ohio she has become my go-to ship, replacing Alaska in that regard. I love my Siggy, but man dose MM hate letting me play it, I always, always get matches where I I try to flank with her, I ether get subs on me, or the CV makes me their chewtoy for the match.

So I have 385M credits and 4.2M free XP. Played nothing but operations for like 6-7 months with all the high boosters. Would get 1.5-2M credits and 40-60k XP per game. Nothing but Mass, Turpitz, Mainz, Bayard

Siegfried is kinda ass tbh. If you plan to buy her then don’t bother, you will regret it, trust me. Yeah she’s a BB in a cruiser slot but she doesn’t have the DPM or ultilities of a cruiser or the armor of a BB, she is bigger than Bismarck but without the Bismarck armor so she eat full pen from every angle. Yeah she has 380mm guns with cruiser accuracy but she only have 6 of them and she will encounter the problem of her guns being too big so she overpened cruisers but not big enough to citadel high-tier battleships. She a mixed bag and not worth your RP. If you want her as a port queen then go ahead

@@heiligkeit6345well she has the most accurate 380mm guns in the game, and she is a tier 9 cruiser so could see tier 7 battleships and bullied them with her cruisers accuracy battleship guns, you can pen their bow and stern so they can’t bow tank you. You can also snipe some of the high cruisers bow those that have 25mm bow and stern can be overmatch by Siefried but it hard to pull of beyond 12 km+, they can juke your shot and you have to wait 26 sec to reload, 22.9 sec if you take reload mod which is quite long for a 6 guns cruiser. I'm not sure about the math, but it seems to me that if you reset Haru and then Shima, you get 2x the x2 bonus, but if you reset Haru twice, you end up with 1x the x3 bonus, for only 8k XP more?

You get the ×2 multiplier only for the first reset of any tech tree line. After that every other line also lack the ×2 multiplier until WG resets that counter. Which happens like all 3-4 months if I remember correctly.

I strongly dislike the ReGrind Bureau. If the low and mid tier ships were fun people would naturally play them, yet WG can't make every ship fun to play or give them +1 match making. So their solution was to put Free Exp or Coal ships behind yet another currency wall to make players regrind the tech trees. It was a stupid Idea when it was introduced and its still a stupid feature now. I have yet to reset a line and I don't own any RB ships. But I've acquired enough RB Tokens to get any one ship from the Regrind Bureau. Sadly if they keep putting neat ships behind that wall I'll have to figure something out. Maybe I'll put 8+ million Free Exp to use, but I refuse to play some of those floating pieces of junk again.
