+MrDman I only started the Japanese Battleships because I wanted the Yamato. I was after the Kawachi and whatever comes after at tier 4, I was about to give up on them. Then I got my Kongo.
+Gunnar Karotte Stock Myogi is awful, but fully up it is a nice ship and when you take the stock Kongo, you think wtf? full Myogi is better!" Wait until you've upgraded your Kongo ! Fuso is a beast (not stock it is crap), Nagato is a good one, Amagi too, if you angle properly, as of the izumo, some say it is a nightmare, but again, properly angled, you can troll enemies... and of course, Yamato... It is crap in the hands of a bad captain, fore sure, otherwise it is a BB killer !
+Quo Niam Well, to be honest, there aren't many ships past tier 6 that are really aweful. Of course, it depends strongly on the player how good the ship performs, how good you are at using the strong points and minimize the weak points of a ship. I like the Battleships and do play them alot, didn't reach the Yamato or Montana yet though. Also, i'm really looking forward to the german BBs, they should be coming this year...
You coming back to Naval Action any time soon Mr Jingles? There is an almighty battle in the Western Caribbean between the British and the Americans. The Royal Navy needs every capital ship it can get.
***** The ships are classed from 7th down to 1st rate. It depends on what you mean by decent warships, but you don't grind for ships, you grind for crew. So theoretically you could grind with the stock ships and buy a high level ship, but you'd only have 60-120 crew to run a ship requiring at least 500 or more. It would be nearly impossible to run. If you're willing to grind hard you can make third rate in about a week. Joining a squadron (clan basically) is also a big help, as they can help you grind and supply you with better vessels as you move up the ranks.

ACTUALLY, Jingles. he'd still have been spotted if he stopped firing after he reset the cap. the St. Louis' detection range is well over 10km and they were at around 9. :p

St. Louis' armour layout is actually quite simple. It has to broadside to bring all its guns to bear, so it probably will be, making AP to the belt over the propulsion a sure option for consistent penetrations (but few citadels, of course, since this is very well protected). Meanwhile, HE to the unarmoured fore and aft ends does massive damage. So, whichever ammo you use, it's more about where you place your shots, and either choice will rapidly drain a St. Louis' obscenely large health bar.
The only reason people say the South Carolina sucks is because when they play it the first time they don't know about angling or the correct use of ammunition etc. Learn to play battleships and then go back and play the South Carolina. It's a wrecking ball.
Awhile back, I played a few games of World of Warships before bed, and the last ship I jumped into was my St. Louis.... it is a tough ship.... but I was the first ship detected and fired on on my team, and the VERY FIRST shell to hit me, was a direct hit on my magazine and the ship was done...... I knew at that moment, it was time for bed when the St. Louis gets nailed in the magazine on the first shell strike of the game....
Is the st.louis OP? no. It really depends on the person behind the keyboard. A good bb or cruiser cap will decimate a st.louis,tier 3 or not. Especially after .5.3 update were AFT skill no longer affects 152mm guns.
+Aleksandr Pokrachinskiy I agree not to mention they nerfed the ROF not to long ago as well, I don't think Jingles has played this ship since closed beta. This ship as of the .5.3 update is no longer OP.
As a hairy chested midwestern American I know that when I look at a vehicle, my first thought is how many guns I can fit in it. I think the US navy could have probably fit a few more on the St. Louis. There was space on the deck, space between the funnels, I mean any where that could fit more guns should have more guns.
What an end! He really deserved to win this. But Jingles at the end it didn't made a difference if he would have stopped firing, as the cover of the island was his only option. The distance to the South Carolina was 9.5km (in this view of the replay the real distance is even a bit less) and the detection range of the St. Louis is 11km. So stopping firing would just enforce the South Carolina to come right to him (he should have done it anyway). So firing or not firing comes to the result, that not firing would be bad, as he would have missed to make some damage while he could.
My favorite target when I'm in my St Louis is destroyers. It's funny as hell when a DD gets close, exposes his broadside to torp you, and before he gets a chance to fire them he's getting hosed by your HE. I hate DDs when I'm playing my battleships, and the St. Louis is my chance to give DD players some much deserved payback, and ruin their fun.
My stats on St Louis, Dresden and Kolberg between 61 and 70 % WR. Survivability is even bigger. Max damage caused by the Louis is 85.375 !! What a ship. The Dresden is the new seal clubber. 2 kills per battle average, 63500 damage. So yes, the Louis is a battleship and the Dresden is a drone with guns
me and a few pals are "dedicated ST. Luis drivers" all we do is play our fully upgraded, fully decked out, maxed commander ST. Luis, i tell you, we can give tier 5-6 ships a run for their money...bloody fun that is! edit: btw, the Sveitlanta (i don't think i spelt it right) is basically a cross between a ST luis, and a destroyer, 15 guns, 4 torpedo launchers, and has a modest speed, and standard cruiser armor at tier four, but the ST. Luis is more fun XD
St lou isn't actually OP for T3 cruiser. Actually I've been figuring by playing them, that the Tenryuu is actually better if you're an experienced player. It has almost 80% of the firepower on the guns (fewer guns, but notably faster ROF), torps, and a lot of speed.
Exactly. St.Louis is very beginner friendly. Very high health, lots of guns and a citadel that is below the waterline. Everyone should have a good time with her. Just go in and do pewpew! Tenryu is pretty much the opposite. It doesn't do very well in a straight up gunfight. But it gives you many many tools to mess up the enemy in other ways. It needs finesse and thus is more suited for experienced players which can use all the options that this ship gives them.
+Linkxsc Well said Link. I sold my St. Louis but bought back my Tenryu. It's so much fun shredding tier 3's with AP while launching torps because a lot of players don't expect the tin can Tenryu to do that. Tenryu means 'tiger' and it definitely is in the hands of an experienced player.
Not quite. It's even more badass then that, Tenryuu means "heavenly dragon." (she's named after the Tenryuu river, and you have to wonder who thought to call a river heavenly dragon)
Nice Video! You're right! St. Louis is a really badass. ;) Actually, at the End, i think he shooted at the SC because he was already in spotting range. St.Louis pops up at 10.5km and he was at 9-8km away...

For anybody who doesn't quite understand why that part with the battleship was so unfair for the battleship: imagine being in an E 100. An amx elc comes around the corner. You fire at point blank range, and your shell is absorbed by the tracks. He then kills you by derping HE into you twice.
The Kawachi is notoriously inaccurate, the spread is horrendous but given that it leads on to the Kongo, Fuso, Nagato, Amagi and Yamato it is bearable. Much more rewarding than the American BB line from the South Crapolina that leads on to the Wyoming or the Wyno AA, the New York, New Missico, Crapolado and North Straddlina.
the sniper Not there yet but as far as stats go it's just a mobile AA platform, the guns are more inaccurate than the North Straddlina, and that's saying something.
+the sniper It gets better. But the reason anyone plays up that line is the Montana. So that. Then again i didn't find Wyo, NY and NMX to be that bad of a ships. Haven't played Colorado though.
It's like you said Jingles and that Kowachi highlights it perfectly: WoWs will never be able to be an E-Sport because of the huge amounts of RNG in the game.
Battleships are like the Death star in wot but with: dead gunner, broken gun, dead loader, dead commander, busted engine and painted fully red with a massive here i am hotline with the enemy team... I am really looking forward to the wows esports;)
