World Of Warships Yamato EPIC Gameplay! Biggest Battleship Guns! 

The trouble with Yamato is, she's like a Dessert Eagle. She'll do some serious damage if she hits, but can't hit the broad side of a barn. Smaller ships will hit more often, but none carry the pucker factor of Yamato. Beautiful ship though, Dad always said she was his favorite despite being the grandson of a WWII vet.

PhlyDaily 18:00 To be exact the 15.5 cm secondary guns on the Yamato class are the Mains from the Mogami class exactly. When the IJN refited the Mogami class with the 20.3cm guns, they reused the 15.5cm guns for the Yamato class.

What you said in an earlier game was correct. They couldn't put any guns in front of the main guns because the force of them firing would obliterate the other gunners.

Mate your repair ability repair something like 12k HP total, you lose nothing using it as soon as possible. Waiting for 50% of your health to disappear before using it is dumb!

the yamato is 2 times the size of a small town , yet she dodged a torpedo!! that is awsome!!

Just so you know the reason why the Yamato does not have AA in the back and very few in the back is the recoil from the main guns would damage or destroy any AA that was put on them. On the other note the reason for the low aircraft destroys is that you need to remember that the targeting for the AA guns was by eye so it was pretty difficult to actually hit the planes although I agree that the planes should be more likely to be destroyed when they are attacking the ships.

About the AA. Those 25mm ones actually have very good range. It's almost on par with the 40mm bofors. What has terrible range is the type 89 127mm guns. Also the AA is placed liked that because of those 18.1inch guns. Unless they are enclosed, they cannot be manned while they are firing the main guns.

The secondarys are the guns from the mogami class cruisers, when they replaced the 155 for the 203, they used them for the yamatos.

Phly, here's a way to remember which way is the bow and stern. When you BOW to an audience you face FORWARD. But don't give them a STERN face, keep that BEHIND you

This Yamato is historically inaccurate, where is the Wave Motion gun?

Even though this is old, Answering the AA/Secondaries not near stern or bow has to do with the main guns and placement of parts of the ship, Stern held engines and bow was dead space to a degree.... Stern basically only had multiple layers of armor in the fore most section so if one shell hit it didn't cause major flooding into the main bowels of the ship. Not much was forward in the ship following the magazine for the A turret. Therefore there wasn't much in the way of getting ammunition to these points aside from being brought up from the superstructure and run to these points. A huge fire hazard holding ammo at these points on deck (This is known all to well when we sunk Japanese carriers loading their planes on deck). Not to mention if they had ammo it could cause more issues to the main batteries as well if set off like possibly jamming a turret from shrapnel. Aside from this is the concussion wave that the turrets set off in these sections, They could pretty much throw a 3 ton car off the deck when firing so it could prove deadly to people manning turrets not to mention damage the turrets themselves, They would have to be heavily armored making ammo logistics even more troublesome.

The gun sounds on this is 🔥🔥🔥 much better.

The mighty Yamato and her sister the Musashi actually had 18 inch guns! They were never really put to much use due to Japanese sphincter muscles not allowing it.

Well if you put the AA guns next to the turret, the impact caused by the explosion of the guns will totally rip the crew members there, the japanese try that on a test and the dummies around the turrets were crushed. So, thats why they dont put AAs on those sides

24:08, Yamato has a flat slab of armour equal to somewere around 420mm at a 45 degree angle, your guns are 460mm so you went thru that 420mm of armour . (It is shown when you remove the side plating on the armour viewer) great vids by the way I am loving them.

@PhlyDaily World of Warships should add USS Enterprise with 1945 AA configuration. That AA configuration had 8 5 inch guns, 54 x 40 mm Bofors ( 5 x 2, 11 x 4) and 32 20 mm Oerlikons (16 x 2)

they didn't put any anti-air in the front because they had to distribute the weight of the ship properly for it to be as effective as it was .

While your complaint about the Yamo's AA is valid, it's also historically correct. The way the firing ranges of it's guns worked, there's a was a significant gap between the long ranged guns and the short ranged guns because they didn't have an adequate mid ranged gun type like we did on the US ships to keep aircraft under constant fire. it's precisely why our bombers did so well against it, especially our dive bombers with their high altitude and near vertical dives just didn't the Yamo enough time to engage them before they had already dropped their payload and were gone.

Japanese AA/AAA in real life were really bad, as an example, in operation Ten-Go where the Yamato was sunk with 10 ships in her fleet (The Yamato herself, 1 cruiser and 8 Destroyers) they only manage to down 10 American aircraft out of 200+ that was sent against the task force with most of the task force's ships ending up heavily damaged or sunk.

One reason why there's a lack of AA guns forward and aft are because the shockwave from the main battery can injure the crew manning the AA guns if they're not armored like those amidship. I wish Wargaming had a pre 1943 mod of Yamato. She had 2 more of those triple 6.1 guns mounted amidship.

This ship should have had a hull upgrade. In reality the ship was massively upgraded in 1944. The game uses the upgraded version. The main thing the upgrade did was add lots of AA guns.

the yamato was a great ship of it's time but it's the size that sank it

They didn't have AA guns on the bow or stern because the blast from those 18" beauties firing overhead would have killed or incapacitated the gun crews in those locations! Superfiring turrets had the same problem in early dreadnoughts because of sighting hoods.

Phly, the Montana class battleship has better pen with 406mm 2,700 lbs shells then the Yamato with its 18.1 inch shells. Also the Montana has Armor to bounce 16 inch 2,700 lbs "Super AP" shells

Hey, Steve. I think you should use the Commander points, with some success. The Yamato ship is a lot more interesting when some bold actions are in the middle. Maybe you can get 3 to 5 citadel hits, each salvo, from about 7 to 3km . Use the flags, Very important. Full broadside is really necessary for killing enemy ships. Go full and return to your way. Do you enjoy playing WoW?

I don't know if they will listen to you but if you agree with me it's worth a try

AA on front and back is bad idea while there is a 18" gun behind u. I think the blast off the guns will clear the deck.
