Because high voltage batteries is NOT for DIY. You better buy a Victron Quattro 15 and x times 16 LFPs plus a good BMS.

This Tripower-SmartEnergy will never be available in the US. North America has mainly a split-phase 120/240 grid that requires a different kind of output. Nevertheless, I hope that SMA brings out a SunnyBoy SmartEnergy-US in the 10 to 12kW range. This would be a gamechanger in the US market.

Hello Miloš, the difference between a PV inverter and a hybrid inverter has to be considered in this case. The PV inverter will have a much lower stand-by consumption. When the sun is no longer shining, it only monitors when there is enough DC start voltage to generate. The hybrid inverter, on the other hand, also monitors when in stand-by to see if there is any potential consumption that could be covered by the battery. In this case, the hybrid inverter will continue to try to optimize self-consumption, which is why a higher standby consumption is normal for this type of device. The price differerence between SMA Sunny Tripower Smart and eg. the Sungrow Hybrid ditto isn’t very big, I would buy the SMA.

Let me just point out that SMA is announcing to the world the incredible success of German(?) technology with great fanfare. Meanwhile, the Chinese are quietly and modestly expanding into global markets in 2019 with the technology (probably already refined!), which Germany TODAY announces as an incredible achievement... This probably clearly shows who is dealing the cards on the PV market? I use a Revo II kit working in a three-phase system with power that SMA can only dream about. The cost of Revo II is approximately 40% of the cost of SMA (2019). For me, it's a price gap. I built a distributed system of 6 inverters connected synchronously via a cable bus (which the Revo II is equipped with, separate low voltage RS232 communication circuit, not on the 230 volt side!). This solution has a huge advantage: failure of any inverter DOES NOT cause failure of the entire system. The damaged inverter is simply disconnected from the system and the computer supervising the system notifies the operator (in this case me) about the failure via SMS. This has not happened yet. For the record, I will add that Revo II has all European approvals. My "private power plant" has 33 kW (not kVA!) of continuous output and 66 kW of peak power (2 minutes). Since commissioning almost three years ago, it has been working continuously without the slightest failure, supplying a large house and home workshop. During this period, my electricity bills was ZERO! According to my predictions from 2019, my system was to exceed BEP in 2034 (including the cost of a very large battery of LiFePO4 cells - also Chinese production). However, with the current rate of increase in electricity prices (due to the "brilliant" decisions of the Germans), the amortization of costs will probably take place in the summer of 2025, assuming the current increase in energy prices. This is a cautious assumption, price increases will accelerate by all indications. Let me put it this way: from 2019 I am not interested in price changes and any changes in the energy market. Even if Europe were to meet a total energy collapse. I made the right decision in 2018, finalizing it at the beginning of 2019, today I am very pleased with the adopted technical assumptions and the type of equipment I used. P.S. In the summer, in the period of the lowest system load, I plan to replace the battery bank BMS from Daly with JK BMS. Not because I have to. Because JK BMS is in fact a balancer with a management function. Therefore, it significantly improves the quality of battery operation, significantly contributing to the increase in its lifetime. It's not a great cost, rather a bit of a hassle and time consuming, but it's worth it!
