One of the most informative & powerful videos on yt. Just found your channel, will be catching up with your content after work. How right you are about the chemicals. Big corporates are the only one's who benefit from selling poison to the gullible, lazy & greedy. If the whole planet went back to basics with gardening &/or large scale farming, we wouldn't have hunger, so many sick ppl & our planet would thrive. Thank you for saying how it is! Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

I love that you're talking about pests and synthetic fertilizer in the same video because it gives me a chance to tell a story: Years ago I used to do strawbale gardening. It's a process of conditioning bales of straw with fertilizers to kick start decomposition and planting directly in the bales. You can use synthetic or organic fertilizers and I was VERY successful with it. This was a gardening style I picked up out of necessity due to my bad back. One year I was unable to find enough organic fertilizer treat all of my bales for summer planting... so I decided to treat all the bales I could with organics but set some aside and treated those with 34-0-0 nitrogen. And that was how I found the best "trap crop" for squash bugs. Those squash bugs had an entire garden full of produce to chose from and they swarmed both the empty bales AND the bag of 34-0-0. Now, every year I treat a few strawbales with the 34-0-0 (away from my garden) I stick some yellow construction flags in the pile and throw any deseased of pest damaged greens on the pile... when the blue devils emerge I burn it with fire. Unfortunately, I can't strawbale garden anymore do to the prevalence of pyralid poisons being used on grasses and grain crops... nor can I source local cattle or beef manures or compost. These poisons are killing everything. So... I've done what every avid gardener does... I've made my raised beds 32" tall and got chickens and rabbits and found virgin forest soils to protect my food supply. It's cheaper too.

Bravo my friend. You are doing it right. I was very lucky to find a supplier of organic straw hay here near my home but that is one of only three in my whole state. Like you said the entire grass and hay industry has been completely contaminated....grazeon is of pure evil In my book. Hands down, rabbit manure is probably the best cold manure mother nature can produce

@@murdocksmadnesspatriotgard5472 Still have to be careful though... my "orchard grass" guy that could provide me Timothy for rabbits now sprays his grass too! "Only in the spring"... I told him flat out "The animals can stomach the weeds better than my garden can stomach the persistent herbacides." I think if we keep making the demand for weeds over poisons they're going to eventually save themselves the cost and extra step of poisoning the products. It's really sad what's happening.

Im so glad I clicked on your video. Your approach, voice, manner is very soothing(?)/patient. Listening to this video while making french toast, my husband said it was the best he's ever had, better than any restaurant. He could be pulling my leg😏 One question, where did you purchase the praying manthis? I own a bee apiary and I dont want to kill the bees with pesticides. TIYA I'm now a subscriber to your RU-vid channel 😁
@murdocksmadnesspatriotgard5472
I got them at Lowes but I do know at certain times of the year you can order them online too. Thanks for the nice compliment......I'm glad it made the French toast even better. 🤗

@@murdocksmadnesspatriotgard5472 I don't want to buy the Chinese one. Id like to get the local ones. Don't want to introduce anything that is not local. Btw, is there a brand you use? A link maybe? I don't mind using a link you supplied and it should be right you get $ reward.🤷

@@starfiresilky when I get home I will look for a link on the pkg. Asking Google for local praying mantis pops up several in my area....try that as well.

Trying to play catch-up on all your uploads... WOW!! You got a lot out there! 😳😱 But, that's OK, it just means I have more info to take in! 😁 Yes, you are absolutely correct in the fact that chemical based fertilizers or, anything else chemical IS lethal to our health, as well as to the planet! I'm part Native American and even if I'm moved over here to Northern Scandinavia. I still do practice quite a few of the old traditional ways when it comes to gardening and more. One of my MAIN "fertilizers" is fish... (be it a fish head buried under a corn plant or...) I can't afford in any way shape or form to buy the organic, or other fish fertilizer so, I make my own. During the winter months, I always when I do my monthly shopping, stop by the fish truck when in town and ask if I can have their fish scraps... They're more than happy to get rid of them so... Free in my book, is money in the bank! I have the large blue food safe barrels, 125 gallons or such, can't remember. I dump the fish scraps into those, put the lid on and also a very heavy cement block to keep the wildlife out of them. Come early spring, I fill them up with water, stir, put the lid back on and let it sit and "ferment/rot". I do the same with the aged cow manure as well as horse manure that I'm able to get for free from my neighbors that have those animals. They are also happy to get rid of that "waste". Actually, most of the neighbors out here in the country do the same. Even the large producers, such as potato growers, wheat and other grains. They usually have their own cows and spread at least 2 yr. old manure and turn it in to the soil before planting. They also rotate their crops, ending with the last year before starting the cycle over again, having their animals graze on the fields... Only thing I add that I have bought to my vegetable beds/containers/etc. is blood meal. Bone meal I make myself. Either from the bones that are left after having made/canned bone broth or, I've baked the bones for hours so that I can run them to my blender and get a fine powder. I'll sometimes do that with egg shells to but, I find that even if they are totally dried out and in powder form, they still take much longer to be beneficial to what I'm growing. I do have a few garden/veg beds that I have been using this method of egg shells for about 4 yrs. now and hoping that the oldest egg shell powder is breaking down but, keeping the cycle going by adding new powder every year. Most of my "fertilizing" is done in the fall, right before winter, which we have lots of snow and I've found that, that seems to work best in my garden. Except for the watering of my homemade "fish emulsion", blood meal and the "manure water". Those I will water with about once a month throughout the season.

They are in nature with the butterflies normally. Not everybody is going to make it some are food for others. I leave that in Father's wise hands as far as that management goes lol 🤣 Most butterflies have nice bright colors to let these guys know that they don't taste good or they are poisonous..

Reason for synthetics causing harm… over use required because of over tilling. Too much and too deep tilling is what kills much of the microbial life, and that is then compounded by the use pesticides and herbicides. At the end of the day nitrogen is nitrogen. How much you need to apply and why is what’s behind the contamination. The pesticides and herbicides complete the process of degradation by inhibiting nature’s ability to be resilient. And over use of all of these breeds dependence. Thankfully regenerative ag is gaining steam (but still microscopic compared to commercial ag.
@murdocksmadnesspatriotgard5472
The dosages given are extreme in big AG.....way more than what is needed causing that runoff. Nitrogen derived from ammonia is not the same as nitrogen obtained by microbe 🦠 processing and natural decomposition......two totally different animals. When is derived from salts the other one is derived from the breaking down of organic material naturally. Base chemicals can be manufactured from many sour es but there is only one that does not kill microbial life and promote symbiosis with the plants the way it's supposed to be.

I am guessing these are praying mantis? Any particular type? You never actually say what they are in your video and I know better than to assume. "These little guys" isn't quite enough especially for people that may not have seen them.

What about spider mites
@murdocksmadnesspatriotgard5472
Spider mites I use cinnamon oil on. That combined with neem oil baking soda and a little dish soap every other week usually wipes them clean out. I really hate those things. Cinnamon oil is your first defense.
