I really wish you would make an actual line of motorcycle boots. I came across these while perusing your website for a boot that would be suitable for motorcycle commuting. They didn't look like motorcycle boots and they don't have any of the desired safety features of motorcycle boots; let alone the world's best. I don't say these things to be nasty; I'm just hopeful that one day you will truly direct your talents to producing genuine footwear for motorcyclists; not just famous acquaintances that ride motorcycles.
To be fair, I have CE certified motorcycle boots. For road oriented riding, especially if you use a toe stiffener in these, the only thing they are really missing is the ankle pucks.
How’s the stain holding up on the mid-sole? I thought it should be black, but for whatever reason the picked brown. Don’t understand the brown kilties either.
@@Michael-br1ul I also have a pair and the brown stain and brown kilties is what made me want them. If you get them and don't like the brown in person you can always sand the edge and dye them black or ask that they make them black to begin with. They do darken a little so the brown edge almost looks black anyway. They're different (and not for everyone) but when they're on your feet it's subtle. I've got other all black boots so I thought the brown was a nice accent.
I can only dream of a pair of these but being homeless renders that impossible, retired,broke and disillusioned but these boot vids help mel to realize what could have been. Quality boots here folks,quality..
These are not “motorcycle” boots. They’re nice, well built, but not motorcycle grade. Daytona makes hand made motorcycle boots. Motorcycle boots don’t have laces, they have armor to prevent your ankle and forefoot from breaking / getting crushed. I want to see the boots attached to a ballistic dumbly dropped off a vehicle (and pinned to the ground) at 70mph to see how they handle the abrasion as well. There is a massive difference in a boot designed for “work” and one designed for crashing at speed Until they undergo any official CE level certification they’re only motorcycle boots by name.
@@mad0uche a large majority of riders I know prefer slip on boots with or without straps, like an engineer boot or a harness boot. IE no laces to deal with. The heel can provide some security on the pegs with how it grabs. Some builders offer a shift patch for the toe area to add an extra layer of protection. This boot appears to be exactly like their builder pro which is a beautiful work boot, just not sure how it’s really a motorcycle boot. Maybe I’m just missing something.
@@zachthompson5335 They have some kind of moto boot which looks like a basic wedge sole work boot with smooth bottom rough uppers, I don't know, I guess anything that isn't a sneaker is a riding boot in their eyes.
@@mad0uche I own the moto hooligans with the vibram sole. They're great riding boots but I would prefer if they had a shift patch. Other than that they're freaking awesome.
Hopefully I'm watching my custom 1964 builder pros with toe cap being built soon haven't seen many toe cap builds cant wait to switch out my 9 year old redwings. Got some good ones for your off brand rebuilds
I just went with the travelers since they were so good looking. If you are wonerding if Nicks boots are protective enough for motorcycle riding, they certainly are. The soles are stiff and resist flexing and twisting. They give more protection than motorcycle shoes and similar similar or better than street ruding boots. A full length adv boot or MX boot is stiffer at the ankle and has extra sheilds but horrible to wear off the bike at all. Nicks boots are comfirtabke enough to walk in and look great. When standing on the pegs, the rear master cylinder does rub on the heal so roughout there makes sense.
So they're bad as motorcycle boots. got it! Protection gear is for your protection first. MX boots are stiff to prevent torsions and amputation. Extra toe and malleolus shields are to make sure you are able to walk after an accident. This is a motorcycle "theme" boot, but it isn't a motorcycle boot.
@@stoane9444 what boots do you wear? Do ypu only ever wear full motorcross or track style boots when you throw a leg over? 95% of riders i see do not wear boots that are mlre protectove than these. My boots are crash tested and performed very well haha
@@teatowel11 I use proper motorcycle boots, with toe and maleolus protection. kevlar pants, with hip and knee protectors, protective vest, and jacket, gloves, neck protectors and my helmet. Every day, to and from work, and every weekend i ride. And about your "crash tested boots" look around for feet "degloving" and see if you still feel safe with them. Motorcycle boots are motorcycle boots, stylish fancy boots are not it. Safe rides brother.
Oh, and the specific model i'm not sure, but i have an alpinestars "casual" boot, one from Triumph, one from Harley Davidson and one from Royal Enfield. They all look like normal boots, but they definitely are not.
@@stoane9444 those toe and maleolus protectors are just a small piece of plastic and will do nothibg for foot degloving. I've owned dinaise and txc motorcycke boots and they are garbage compared to nicks and offer less protection. Seriously, if you have not worn a pair of nicks you don't know what you are talking about. Nicks boots are not as protective as a full length motocross boit but they are certainly better than most shorter moto boots.
Nice that they realize that bikers are, uh, biker sized. They offer sizes large than EE (rare) and have retail outlets that can measure you (as well as at home templates for sizing).
"Worlds best Motorcycle boots" ?? Says who.....Nick's ? It is widely known that Nick's makes some of the best boots out there (I've got a pair on order) but to say that these are the world's best just because Nick's made them is a bit of a stretch. Biker boots are different than construction boots. I have a pair of Sidi boots which are fantastic. Its not the quality of the boot but more the design and testing.....IMHO
@@kastimizillion motorcycle boot features are mostly gimicks. Unless you are going for a full MX boot these are as protective as most motorcycle boots. I'd argue that likely the stiffer ankle support on an MX boot likely just transers the force up to you knee anyway.
@@teatowel11 You appear to know very little about motorcycle boots. There's a world of difference between a 'boot' and a 'motorcycle boot.' Toe, instep and ankle crush protection are missing on these boots. OK as a hipster fashion accessory I guess, but deffo not a motorcycle boot.
I agree, the logger heel makes no sense, the sole is too thick, I would also like to see an extra piece of leather where the shifter would rub for longevity. I'm not sure they consulted a rider when designing these, however, they look fantastic.
I have my hot shots 8 year one rebuild I prefer rough out more then leather when riding my Harley with leather shifter with rough out you can brush it roughy will come back clean with leather it wrinkles deforms and cracks the leather as for as far as the Logger heel arch support when on feet or on foot board knees are up Close to gas tank better feel when feet are on foot pegs on crash bars feels like boots are locked in feet don’t slep
Not much, just which parts they chose to have rough out. Just get a completely rough out boot is my advice. I got the traveler since i prefer the wedge to a heel when riding.
I have the builder pros, and they are like wearing lead weights on your feet. You also sound like an elephant when walking around. I have worn them on the motorcycle but stopped because the inside heel leather was burnt from the exhaust. They are the only boots I have that make contact with the exhaust. They are solid boots, but if I can get away with not wearing them for the day, they will stay home.
Very well made and beautiful boots and of course you can wear them on the motorcycle but that doesn't make them a motorcycle boots. Absolutely no protection to any part of your foot. If you want top of the line, hand made true motorcycle boots see Daytona.
Maybe for Harley riders, but for anyone with normal foot controls, ah, no, sorry, but 1" thick soles don't work on a non cruiser, and I guess y'all don't need to feel anything through the boots. Also, because I'm in a mood... your boots don't have anywhere near the actual foot and ankle protection my road racing boots have. So, I disagree with your claim. But I'm sure they are nice boots.
I've got Altberg bike boots too and much better for motorcycling and I ride every day. The boots in the video look great but not sure if they deserve 'The World's Best Motorcycle Boot' title. Don't take this as a pop at you, Nick; but do you ride a motorcycle much? Daytona make a much more biker focussed boot as well. Love your channel, Nick.
Beautiful process! They always spray the sole with something before they stitch it on. Is that just water or is it a light oil for lubrication or something?
These aren't motorcycle boots, they're break ur ankle, shatter ur heels and crush ur feet boot. They're work boots, nothing about them is specific to motorcycle protection.
I mean yea, they’re technically designed off of work boots. But you’re telling me that much leather isn’t enough to protect me in a fall? If I’m taking a dive hard enough to destroy my feet in a pair of nicks, then my feet are the least of my concerns
These boots resist flexion better and twisting WAY better than motorcycle boots i've had from Forma, Dianese or TXC. The oak tan leather shank is very stiff. Puttig a thin metal shank over a soft synthetic mid sole like most manufactures do is inferior.
The heal protection is a very thick and stiff oat tan leather heal counter and trust me it us way better than any molded platic part on moto boots. No malleolous protection but really, are those things doing anything?. I tuck my laces in the top of my boot, they never come out and its a much stronger way to fasten your boots than a zipper. An MX or very good ADV or track racing boot offers more protection but this is a boot you can walk in and looks good. This is way better than a lot of motorcycle shoes or "boots" that are sold as motorcycle soecific.
These could be the best boots ever made and I still wouldn't wear them because of the laces. Also, they made be the toughest but certainly don't offer nearly enough protection.
The 'Original' Alpinestars' we get here in Malaysia are made in either Vietnam or Bangladesh - It's no wonder they aren't much better than the cheaper varieties, which many buy instead, coz they're not buying the brand, theyre buying the Quality, which the cheaper ones, like these Nicks, have in them
I'm not a seamstress, a tailor, or a cobbler, so obviously I don't know my asshole from my elbow here, but it always makes me think the boots are going to come out somehow messed up when the material underneath wrinkles differently than the top layer in the sewing machines. And then they don't.
These boots can't provide anywhere near the protection required by a motorcycle boot e.g. hell, ankle, shin and toe solid reinforcements together with an anti-crush sole as well as being waterproof. These are for the poseur crowd on their cruisers. Its almost fraudulent to call them the best motorcycle boots.
After watching several of these clips, I have to say they all look the same, just with differant titles. This in no way looks or even slightly resembles like a motorcycle boot.
How much does it cost for Nicks to have all the positive auto responses in the vid comments. Takes half a year to get your boots, meanwhile they have your money.
Now you know why they cost what they do...a LOT of work and skill goes into making these handcrafted boots..these arn't mass produced in some Chinese Factory..like a Lamborgini ,these boots are made to perform and last.
As a life long motorcycle rider, who has ridden all year round for most of my life, I would not wear these, they offer very little protection in the event of a collision, and laces break allowing the boot to come off. Proper motorcycle boots, like Sidi, or Alpinestars etc are far more suitable than these.
Don't like these clickbait "world's toughest". There's nothing indicating that these motorcycle, work or any other boots for that matter are "world's toughest". As far as I can tell they are made the same every other hand made boot is made. These "motorcycle" boots don't even have ankle protection and the soles are wrong.
The term is a gimmick bevause "toughest" is not defined on any way so is meaningless. They do however use the thickest, high quality leather of any boot and also have a very robust stitchdown and nailed sole construction. These loom the same as a lot of boots but if you hold them side by side the Nicks boot is more heavy duty in every way.
Nice boot and craftmens work but has nothing in common with a real motorcycle boot. Zero protection nothing fir the shifter. Only a nice bling bling boot maybe fir Harleys.
Doesn't seem to make sense. It seems so inefficient. he is punching out a single shape at a time. So it is taking an hour to do something that should take a minute.
Sorry best biker boots maybe but not best motorcycle boots not even close. Crap for safety, check out boots racers wear, those are boots for safety not biker look.
@@johnhenson4054 you know high heels were invented for men riding horses right.. The high heel is actually good for riding as the peg sits just in front of it and can stop the foot from sliding forward and also good for shorter people riding taller motorcycles.
@@bearcatracing007 seeing that I’m a long distance solo off road motorcycle rider where my feet can’t even touch the ground, that’s rubbish and as someone that mustered cattle on horse back for livelihood that’s done wearing riding boots… not these. You wore these on a worksite in Australia, you’d be laughed off site.
