Lately I've been having issues with the salt mill where the burrs "gap" will get stuck and switching back and forth seems to be an issue. I haven't had any issues with my other high end salt/pepper mill - If you're looking for another high quality pepper mill monster that's cheaper, grinds slightly less but much more easily, check it out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q0pvYSQS8WI.html

Bought it because of your review … despite having collected every other coffee related items from Weber …from the EG1 blah blah to to the Spring Cleaner, I never wanted to buy this Salt pepper. Can’t wait for it to arrive now. Excellent review and presentation, all facts covered nicely and entertaining as well. Thanks !

Hey just a quick update, my moulin set arrived yesterday and 1st thing i checked is the salt cap … good news magnets super strong, shook it like you did and won’t even wobble. Actually its not even easy to pull out gotta make that extra effort … btw magnets not only strong on the cap but also the ring adjustment is super pulling as well.

Thanks for the video. I think the design of the moulin is just so different from a classic mill that I wouldn't want it on my counter. Reminds me of my nightcore ea41 flashlight.

I would be interesting to have your take of the pepper cannon, they just came out with a salt grinder as well. The cap on them locks in place with with a one button release and it works effortlessly. And the coarse to fine selection is more than anyone could want

I'd love it too, I won't be buying one though but if they want to send me one I'd review it!

Pepper Cannon is pretty nice. I think the big advantage of this one is the grind size adjustment ring is easy to read. The Pepper Cannon you have to adjust from the bottom and there's not a zero indicator. Not *practically* a problem though. The Cannon can go from an incredibly fine powder up to like, quarter-corns. From the video, seems like they both grind very quickly. I'd say the price and the pepper cannon having a catch-cup built in are the Cannon's advantage.

Thanks for your great video! It seems like the pepper mill is functionally excellent, but I’m not sure about the salt grinder. Based on your experience, is the salt grinder worth the money given the inherent softness of salt, which would seem to limit the usefulness of the grinder?
@GadgetsGearCoffee
@GadgetsGearCoffee Год назад
Honestly it's not necessary and I knew that but I wanted a complete set. Also, if you can wait 2 ish months, I have a comparison video and another high end grinder that will interest you before investing in such an expensive piece. You got the exclusive here 🤫

You really like pepper lol Ohh do share! How was the pepper cannon quality pepper grinding wise? A lot of people are being bit picky with the Weber moulin. I think the customer base is picker too tho. Like it felt lightweight and non resistant?

@@GadgetsGearCoffee Haha, yeah! I go through about an ounce of black peppercorns a month. I didn't even open the box of the Pepper Cannon. @@GadgetsGearCoffee Pepper Cannon was $179, Moulin was $289. I didn't get the combo as I have little use for an expensive salt grinder. I'll let you know my thoughts as soon as I get it. Thanks so much for the video, I believe you are the first to make a review of it.

I bought the pair a couple of weeks ago due to the wonder videos and reviews. It looks like an awesome grinder but unfortunately my salt grinder broke apart after using it just a couple of times. What's worse if the lack of customer care, they seem not to respond or address the problem. I guess if the grinder works correctly, it's wonderful not so much in my case. I am NOT HAPPY AND I REGRET MY DECISION! Hopefully I will get my money back.

I’m definitely the target market for this. I own a pepper cannon and a unicorn magnum. While this seems nice, how does it compare to the pepper cannon at 160 Kickstarter price? The cannon is really designed beautifully and I love the lid locking mechanism as well as the cellar cap for the bottom of it.

I don't have a cannon but the cannon looks really great! I was also considering that one but then decided I wanted a set and WW offered that. I find it hard to grind at times and hard to grip, not perfect, for me anyway. Maybe someone with bigger hands would have an easier time

I checked out the product link your shared and it's interesting that they say that you can also grind coffee. Looking at the picture of the grinder disassembled, it seems no different than most high-end manual coffee grinders. I think if they provided a handle that's basically what you'd have (future product maybe?). Otherwise, I can't see someone grinding for espresso with one of these😁. But this does make me wonder about going the other way around. Maybe getting one of the 1Zpresso or Timemore grinders could work well as a high-end pepper grinder. Guessing the steel burrs are maybe not ideal for salt though.
@GadgetsGearCoffee
@GadgetsGearCoffee 2 года назад
Just cuz you can, doesn't mean you should 😉 You could put regular gas in your car instead of premium for XYZ car but it won't perform as well. It's not made for that so I wouldn't do it personally and ruin my grinder or not great coffee out of it. At the end of the day a grinder with burrs is a grinder with burrs but considering coffee beans and peppercorn have different structures and densities, I'd prefer burrs made for each and also, not mix the flavours. The grip of the mill is also a bit awkward for coffee beans. I suspect coffee is denser and requires more energy hence the sticking out handles from coffee grinders

I originally bought their blind shaker for my Sette 270 and was super impressed by the build quality. I saw these on their site when I went to upgrade to the HG-2 and was curious as to how well they worked. Thank you for the very thorough review, never thought I'd see anyone review them as it's super niche. It's gotta be weird having a pepper mill with larger burrs than your espresso grinder. Have you tried grinding coffee with it? I would definitely want to give it a go.

mine started creating a ring under the cap and is grinding metal shaving WW customer service will not replace it accusing me of abusing the product and that im the only person to have this problem: i do not recommend. They state that this grinder will most likely outlive its owner and only lasted 2 years.

Thanks for the great review! I also found my Peugeot took way too long for cooking but I didn't realize it was just for "finishing" until seeing your video. I bought a Unicorn grinder which works great but it's made of plastic and not as aesthetically pleasing so considering buying another one. This one looks amazing but I'm in the middle of a customer service issue with Weber (which now looks like it should be resolved) and not sure I want to buy from them atm. Have you heard anything about the Craig Lyn grinder? it also looks really nice
@GadgetsGearCoffee
@GadgetsGearCoffee 2 года назад
Ya I didn't realize Craig Lyn had one until recently when browsing. I think if you only need a pepper mill (and don't care about a set) , they might be the same. I didn't compare the specs. I mean you can cook with the other ones, many people do, you see professional cooks crank like crazy, I don't think they were ever intended for that use though because the output is so low. I really felt it when making cacio e Pepe which I love making and when I saw the Moulin (and pepper cannon) I knew I had to get it.

Just received the pepper grinder. Mine is hard to turn when loaded. You really have to muscle it. It turns freely when unloaded though. Was yours like that? A handle would give better leverage. Thinking of returning it ☹️
@GadgetsGearCoffee
@GadgetsGearCoffee 2 года назад
It can be at times I find, I don't know if it's in my head but I feel it's getting easier. I also found with different peppercorns, maybe some were not as dry and stuck more. The smooth surface doesn't help with grip but overall it has gotten better for me. But yes you have to muscle it more than a pepper grinder with less output. Like I said in my video it's better for large quantities, not small or precise work over a small plate.
