I think the question might be, if you saddled it with all of the weight from modern safety systems and all of the creature comforts that people expect in cars from today, would it still have beat the Raptor? An Ariel Atom is seriously quick, but you give up *a lot* to get that quickness. When I compare the performance of my 1993 Corvette to a modern V6 sedan, that impresses me more-- that despite all of the extra required mass to meet regulations and all of the extra features and tech to make it something people would buy, they can still keep up.

@@ericrosen6626 It is really impressive just how far modern cars have come... I mean... even the most piddly little cars now would slaughter muscle cars from 40 years ago. It really makes me wonder just how quick these modern cars would be if you just stripped out all the frills, creature comforts, and electronics (well... for the driver... not the engine or driveline) and equipped them as if they were from 40 years ago? I feel like some boring sedans would be transformed to damn near missiles by doing that.

The Syclone was a compact truck based on the S15. Granted, I drive a 2006 Ram Lonestar and it gets dwarfed by some newer trucks.

I know. Back in the day I came within 1 second buying a brand new loaded Syclone. Cold cash all I had to do was just went & got the Cashiers Check from the bank. I scared it would turn into a Garage Queen. More likely it would of & I would gotten tired looking at it & paying insurance on it & sell it.

In the UK the standard parking space is 2.4M wide. This needs to accommodate the vehicle and enough door opening on both sides for people to get in etc. The ford f150 raptor is 2.46M wide... Better have a sunroof.

GMC did not make a new Syclone. The truck you are talking about was an SVE aftermarket truck. They are the same company that owns the Yenko name/trademark now and produce super Camaros under the Yenko name. Their take on the Syclone is great, but not a factory truck like the original.

if fast truck is what you want then buy a v8 f150. its like having a awd mustang. 30k and they just need boost and fuel. they can make up to 1200whp and run 8s in the 1/4 mile. Thats with a stock sealed motor. no heads no cams no pistons no rods. 30k for the truck 20 to 30k for a turbo or supercharger and fuel system. + upgraded transmission just for extra reliability . And you can run 950whp 8s and 9s in tbe 1/4 mile all day long for less than a raptor trx rivian etc its like why not. supercar/hypercar/plaid killer for less money. check out midnight performance and there loads of 8 sec stock sealed coyote f150s raptor is meant to be a baja truck and thats what its better than other production trucks. Trx is fast but got stuck between baja and street truck. it shouldve just been a fast street truck.

They've just driven these trucks at low speeds, to make it seem like it is slow mo when its actually not (the transition from the actual slow mo to this scene is sick, that is what makes this thing look goddamn incredible). They made engines way stronger back then, people always drone on about how much better engines are now.... Well maybe that would be true if they were made as well as they use too, STATUS QUO..... They use cheaper and cheaper materials. So yeah its fuel management and diagnostics are better, but these engines can take maybe half the wear and tear of the old engines. Sure more efficient, but way cheaper means that they arent lasting longer or doing more. Hell a 5.9 magnum v8 can easily do 3-500k miles. With regular basic maintenance. Try that with a hemi. Sure its not as powerful as the hemi, but it will outlast it

When I was 18 shopping for my first car, I didnt know about the Syclone or the Typhoon. I looked at a Typhoon for sale (this was 2004) and all I thought was it was expensive. Really glad I settled on a 2002 Malibu 😭 worst decision ever

As awesome the TRX sounds. The Rivian is just more adapted for everyday use. As your only pickup truck the Rivian makes more sense. But for people who just want big boys toys along side a bunch of other vehicles yeah the TRX is awesome.

They were reliable and simple. That’s what a truck is supposed to be. I own a 1993 1500 and it’s never let me down.

For Ford, the lighting will be out very soon which I'm sure will do a lot better in this event...But... this is just for entertainment purposes. Who in the world buys a truck for this purpose. The raptor is designed for off road fun and a bi-product of that is that it happens to be fast. They didn't design it for speed. If you said I could pick any of those trucks for free, I would choose the Ford or the Ram over the Rivian with out any doubt. And more often than not, I prefer electric vehicles over Ice vehicles. Although, it might be the better choice for some, for me, the Rivian is just not what I want out of a truck.

yup love mine hemi. yes electric cars are fast but how much can the gmc haul/tow and how far can it go? the ram has it all speed towing hauling and can be filled up in 2minutes
