Hey folks, this is Carl, your NEMM Roaming Diplomat.. this machine is by far the nicest CR we've had come thru the KC pipeline! Sure, there have been several custom CR500s built on site here that qualify as beautiful go and show bikes, but this is in a totally different class and still a show stopper!
So why not put in a museum where it belongs. After all I believe Ken makes more than enough off the hundreds of bikes he sells every year. Starting to think it's more about the money than the MUSIUM
I felt the same way since they debuted in 1981. The 1981CR lineup, in my box, the best looking CR's ever. Love them so much I rolled a brand new 125 out of the showroom in 1981.👍
@@coolbigrigs ... I rolled a brand new 1981 out of the show room too. I was just a teenager, had a blast on that bike! 23.65 HP. I remember reading that in dirt rider like it was yesterday...forty years ago
So that's what that CR looked like fresh off the showroom floor when I was 3 years old. I've never seen more NOS or original vintage relics than I have on your channel. It's literally like a time machine, 40 years old, that's pretty damn amazing.
A beauty!!! I have two of them! Youre missing the most iconic piece from that machine though, the hangnail plate! Plate backgrounds were yellow on the 450, green on the 250, and white on the 125
In 82, at 13 years old, I talked my dad into taking me to the nearest Honda dealer by us in NJ. Think it was Aberdeen Honda. I had $800 cash to buy brand new 82 CR80, but right next to it sat a leftover 81 that I wanted SOOOO bad because of how it looked. Even though the 82 was 1st year with the Prolink on the 80, i loved the red engine and that Elsinore series bikes. Got the 82 and will always bleed Honda dirt bike red. Love this channel.
My first RU-vid subscription was to your channel. Great show of awesome bikes. Currently working on a 1980 yz125 with my dad. Great to see a father and son share this passion. Hi from Nova Scotia. My 1980 yz125 will have 54 as the number, the number my dad used while racing. Looking to vintage race it in local hare scrambles.
@@KaplanCycles It is beautiful here. Funny as, I want to visit your Museum. I love watching your content and it has motivated me and dad to try as much as we can to build my 1980 yz125 to a respectable level like you display on your bikes.
Very fine example!! Had one for a season. First time out blew the rear shock. That 4 speed was oddly spaced, if I remember right. Power was more like a 250 on steroids, not true open bike grunt. Handled pretty good and the brakes worked well. Again, very nice piece you have there 👍
We haven't seen you nor anyone else rippin holeshot alley an up towards the house for a short while! You will have to get a couple of bikes out to quash our cravings lol🤣👍
I accidentally added that too soon anyways I was saying that after you guys got done with it it's got to be as good as it looks which is absolutely beautiful it's definitely one of the most attractive looking machines Honda ever made as far as Motocross you guys really dialed her in
The all-red Honda motocross bikes should have gold anodized rims. I love right-hand drive motocross bikes. They are just cool. Only Honda and Yamaha had them.
marty Smith use to race at our local Terre Haute Competition Track back in 1976 when Marty was dominating the 125 class on his 1976 CR125R ..Marty would jump over a dog leg 180 degree hair pin and land back on the track that was legal to do in this days putting him way out in front ... Marty use to enter our 5 lap dash for cash open class run what you brung race on his 125 and lap the field of all size bikes for the win..i saw him throw the chain off ..flip the bike over spin the back wheel getting the chain back on and still held first place for the win
It was a desert Grand Prix race, immortalized in the movie On Any Sunday. There may be a mx track there, but the Honda Elsinore is named after a desert race.
I remember when the 80s went from being an XR TO A CR 80 my friend Derek was the first kid in our town to get one the engine was red, I remember how each kid that road it came back pale faced and trembling with adrenaline, saying I can't believe the power difference ☠ Derek could beat all the 125 class and any beginners in the 250 class absolutely no competition. 🤠👍
What doesn't kill you will make you stronger brother in 8 weeks will be better than new and it will never break in the same spot keep on riding never give up never say die
I have a all original 460r im cleaning up im missing front number plate thats it everything else is there but old and ugly right now but im showing her love slowly
This bike blows any stock away in looks simply because of this front number plate !!! What a massive improvement, the original CR450's came with that hideous 'hang nail' looking monstrosity.
