Security cables / chain was my first thought in all of this - especially with the kids. The left-hand edge of the TV is exposed too and is susceptible to being caught when someone walks past it. I would put a padded barrier / blocker / something just to the left of the LHS so that it takes any knocks instead of the TV. It may be tough to make it fit in with the aesthetics of the room but you can never be too safe (owner of a wall-mounted 60" Samsung 4K with 2 young kids).

Computers are a lot more resilient these days than back in the 90s and early 2000s. Hell, my WiFi card came with a magnet mount for attaching it to your PC case and it's been there for ~2 years with no problems.

The disclaimer was probably just requested by Samsung and his other sponsors for the build because they don't want lots of people doing this then suing them if it does fall (unlikely but why risk it if you don't have to?) and the equipment used isn't rated for that sort of angle or whatever. If he's letting them in there and is lying there himself I would be be willing to bet that in reality it is very securely fastened to the wall.

For example, did you notice that he hung from the mount before mounting the TV? Linus isn't a big guy, but that is a fair test.

I'm surprised nobody has made a mount that covers the 45 to 90 degree mounting options. I mean it'd be insanely expensive with having to undergo much more design work and testing but it'd be the only one to guarantee safety at that angle so it'd completely corner a market niche so some people would pay for it.

I bet it's less an issue of R&D or cost, and more an issue of no one wanting to take the risk. I'm sure it's perfectly safe, but by marketing a product as being able to do that they open themselves up to lawsuits when people are dumb.

It's not like those people that wall mount their TVs halfway up the wall or above the fireplace like they intend to stand while watching it. Really a TV doesn't need to be mounted on the wall in most situations, since a sensible height for watching while sitting would look silly, which is why they make TV cabinets.
