Here’s also a fun story about Robert the Doll! Once when Otto was a young child, his mother took Robert away from him and locked him in a closet. A couple days later, a servant in the house saw Robert walking out of the closet! Imagine how scared that servant must have been.

I’ve seen the now resting place of the doll. I personally heard a different story about the origins of the doll. I was told on the tour, in which the doll was the main attraction, that a maid/housekeeper that practiced dark magic gifted Otto with it.

I took a picture of Robert the doll without asking when visiting Key west. The next day I was mugged and my keys as well as wallet were taken. As a result I met my wife who let me stay with her and helped me get back to my army base. We now have two kids, are happily married, and are expecting a third child in December. A curse can lead to a blessing as well.

My family and another family visited Key West when I was younger and we saw Robert, and a kid from the other family laughed at Robert and didn’t take his photo. When they tried to leave in their single prop plane, it broke down and they got stuck in Key West. This is the closest thing to paranormal activity I’ve seen.

I went to visit Key West back in December 2018. While I was there, I saw Robert, and asked if I could take a picture of him, but in the back of mind, I still wondered what kind of stuff could happen? Well on my way back up to Miami, I hit a deer with my rental car on HWY 1. Yes, it came out of nowhere! The head went one way, the body went another, and there were blood and guts everywhere. I totaled the car, but luckily I got the insurance with it. I feel like that was Robert's way of saying "this is what could happen".

I went on a ghost tour while visiting Key West years ago and the tour ended with a visit to the museum to see Robert. The museum is not what you think. It’s located on an old military fort so it has a real dungeon like feel. He’s now positioned staring at old war memorabilia behind an iron gate. The whole museum is legit spooky. Only compounded by the fact that we went there around midnight.

However, I did some digging and evidently the museum researched his origins. He is indeed from the German company, but was never meant to be a child's toy. It was part of a line of jester and clown figures that were for store window displays. The sailor suit is assumed to be one of Gene's outfits, since the company did not make it.

It seems like robert, due to his experience being so scary, is actually just a normal doll, but is blamed for other things. Young Otto must have been mentally unstable, and all the other reports must have been the witness' own paranoia. It is a very common occurence that we start blaming things as cursed and such, when they look scary. Otto must have done something and then forgotten it all, and the mental instability explains otto's obsession with robert when he grew up
