You should talk about gear and acceptable dosages. People will listen to you. That doesn’t mean you have to promote it….but talking about it would bring so much respect to you and your brand. Strongman is the only sport it’s not being openly talked about. Be the trend setter.
Fantastic video Mitch! The comment you made about people being negative in regards to lifting heavy is a common thing in my life. I don't know whether it's envy or jealousy but people like to tell me it's bad to lift heavy things. Little do they understand its what keeps me happy and healthy, I'm not doing it to show off haha. Hope you are feeling a bit better mentally mate 👍. It must be hard keeping everything going when your a new dad. Much respect to yourself for getting on with life sir.
I like the comment about lifting a 200kg log for reps. Those 4 reps you did at Arnold Classic were awesome and competitive ! That sounds like my deadlift workout 4×200kg
Video request: if you could consider doing an episode on losing bodyfat while keeping (or gaining?) strength that would be super appreciated. Thank you!
Love the last question and answer. I own a gym, and also train clients. When attempting to correct someone's form on a deadlift (who was lifting way more than he should have been) I was told that a RU-vid trainer says you should train heavy with bad form to lesson risk of injury when form waivers......... mind you this guys back was as round as a yoga ball mid lift. I politely explained that training outside of normal form was ok with lighter loads, but when going heavy he should always try to keep form in check as much as possible, and when form waivers too much, stop lifting said weight. I was scoffed at, and disregarded. 😔
One of the biggest rookie mistakes I see in powerlifting is in choosing your weights-specifically your openers! Please please please don’t try to break the bank and make head turns on your opener or you will regret it. Choose a weight that if you were woken up at 3am in a stupor and transplanted to the gym the you know without a doubt you can get 3 reps with it. Get in and stay in the meet then you can go balls out but your choices should still be smart but you get it. Even if you were able to get the heavy opener you chose but it’s a grinder this is stil way less than optimal and not what you want. Good luck to whoever was asking and you see this
Young Mitchell would definitely be proud of you, Champ! And I absolutely love the story of the personal trainer putz talking trash about you lifting heavy. It reminds me of Adam Sandler running into his old acting coach years later. When Adam was young...the acting coach bought him a beer at the bar and told him acting wasn't for him. I'm sure the personal trainer see's you all over the internet and it stings.
If I'm doing a top set of 10, the 10th rep is getting sketchy. If I'm doing a top set of five, the fifth rep has me scared I might die, but that's what motivates me to push through the rep.
Yeah, I think I can get behind the selection of those 6 events. The iron bull would need to be modified a lot, it was an overcomplicated implement and it lead to Trey getting injured.
Still no stack? I feel like bodybuilding drug use is pretty openly talked about nowadays, but I'm still very curious about what the pro strongmen take!
Most probably strongman comps, in particular Giants Live, are theoretically "clean". On the face they ban PED's. Which means none of the competitors are incentivised to admit what they do openly just in case it negatively affects their invites to comps and therefore what they can earn.
Also illegal in some places. Mitch is doing the right thing and not giving his stack out and that way protecting himself and others who might say "ohh i need xyz and i can be like him!"
@@88bjjmichael Yeah, he's obviously not going to actually reveal what he's taking is he... there's already enough impressionable idiots out there without them trying to copy Mitch's stack without knowing what they're doing.
His stack would apply to you. Your "stack" has to be based on your size, weight, age, race, other "supplements", other medications, diet, sunlight exposure, daily activity, goals, past health history and present health status. Case by case, person by person. No two snow flakes are identical. 10 different strongman competitors, 10 different stacks and for good reason.
Gutted I didn’t see the ask me anything, I would have been interested to know what music you enjoy listening to during and outside of workouts and is there a particular song that gets that last rep out of you??? But then again maybe someone has asked this already in the video and I just haven’t gotten to that bit yet 😂
Mitch, the fact you don't say you're steroid free says it all. Sometimes not saying anything is just as resounding as just saying "yeah." Sponsors can't be that naive, everyone knows top tier body builders HAVE to take steroids, and it doesn't taint the greats Ronnie, Arnold, Phil, etc. Be the one that comes "clean", ha, for real though, the fact some people think you're natural is harmful to their perception of what they could possibly achieve (*not likely at all but what's possible without compromising themselves with steroids.) LHBK, be kind and admit the lifts you do wouldn't be possible without "gear". We'll still love you man, it's just dishonest IMO.
I used t have longish hair and a full beard, got comments like Hello Jesus, when hair went white changed to Mr Christmas. Vey strange , I’d never call out to other people
@@Imsickofallyallseeingmyname I guess haha. I'm the type of guy to mess with folks like that though. Maybe even a few shots in bodybuilding posing trunks just to give them a lil tease🤣
On the one hand, I'm disappointed that you won't do an OF. On the other hand, I would likely get myself into financial trouble if you did! That said, love your content and the thoughtful commentaries you provide. You're amazing!
What are you talking about? He gave it ton of real answers with good insight into how he trains and other things that you would normally have to pay a coach to understand. For him to do a simple Plug on his program which directly answers the question of how to peek for a strong man event makes total sense. The person literally asked the question and he has a solution for it. Why not let the person know this takes a lot of work time experience and effort to put together these videos shouldn’t we want to support somebody that does all this content ? This RU-vidrs are just here to entertain us like court gestures is so weird to me. I don’t understand it.
6 events would be viking press, stone to shoulders, heavy fingal fingers, heavy stone series. Just so you might lose some points because you are too good right now 😂 I couldn't find more events where Mitch can lose points😂
Click bait stack reveal, but still selling progams. Are these programs with roids or for naturals. And some people still think if i follow a Mitch program and stay natural i can get to his level. I understand you can't openly speak about what you use but just a little transparency would be appriciated.
I would personally love to know how the hell you train and work so much and still look fresh as a daisy when you have a child under 1yo 🧐 that’s not normal
It‘s a title you kinda keep once won, and Hooper‘s the current „strongest man on earth“ by winning Shaw‘s competition. The Shaw Classic got the rights to the smoe title from fortissimus
@@DavidVirtanen I know he won many events and WSM but found it odd when he used that WSM title for this year. I understand once you win it, you can use it all the time as mentioned in the comments. Thanks.
