This simple dual axis tracker is self powered, requiring no external power or computers. It can easily be scaled up and will automatically "reset" from the evening position in the morning.
I look forward to seeing your "how-to" video. I was impressed by the symplicity of your other tracker video. The solar panels and servo motor are somewhere between China and the UK!! Keep up the good work.
The greatness of your system is that you know your electronics and have the inventiveness to make it functional, simple and cost effective. I have a 100 watt panel and charge controller which I use for charging 12 volt batteries and would love to be able to DIY into a dual axis sun tracker like the one you exhibit here, but that I can move around! I have checked many other dual tracking systems, but they are way too complicated and expensive to emulate, the tracker system costing more than the combined price of the charging setup I have! This one looks very promising, looking forward to how you made yours so I can attempt one for me! I am sure many others are in the same predicament I am. All the best!
Thank you Daniel - the system really is very simple and costs just a few pounds. Two slow geared motors around £5-7 each and four small driver solar panels for about £4-5 each. I'll try and get up another video showing how it's put together as soon as I get chance.
I thought about splitting the 30° range between top, bottom, left and right but thought it may go a bit random if the top (for example) fell into a shadow. I felt it would be better if both detectors were within the same proximity so they got effected by the same light coverage. Yours works really well! Good coverage too
Thank you Anthony, it does indeed work really well, it tracks within about 3 degrees and could easily be scales up to take a standard 6' x 2' panel. It wakes up and resets it's self at first sunlight in the morning too. I'll do a "How to" video shortly.
I second that notion I'm working on a couple of ideas for a dual axis tracker in the middle latitudes of the u.s. Great Lakes area I'd love to see how you made this one work especially the reset after sunset
If you look at one of my previous videos "worlds simplest solar tracker" I use the same motors and panels there. There's also a link in the description on that video too.
@@Targetmaster1066 Just to confirm, the motors and panels used here are the same as used here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nw4uEsEjbxA.html ??
