How do you steam and for how long? I don't really have blackheads but I get them occasionally on the sides of my nostrils and I don't want to use a strip.

@@spiwolf6998Get a bowl of steaming water in it. Put your face over the bowl and cover the bowl and your head with a towel. The towel keeps the steam in. 10-15 minutes should be good.

@@callmewaves1160 Same. As long as you aren't doing more than once a week (maybe twice) w/ a good preventative skin care routine, it helps gets those bits that like to fill in pores. I'm 50, skin has only in past year started to be less oily than all the rest of my life, & even w/ good care there's always a few blackheads that don't want to leave w/o some Strip help.

These seem more effective in some videos because some people have more oil in their pores, if you don't get results like this, it may not be because of the product, but because there's not so much gunk in your pores.

@@thlyddnot really. you know some people have oily skin and some people have dry skin, right? i have really oily skin. i do my skincare every day and i have really clogged pores. i have oily skin everywhere but the clogged pores are mostly in my t zone. my forehead, chin, nose, and my upper cheeks/next to my nose.

Excellent video! I am old so my routine is a bit different. I use a daily salicylic acid serum along with a water based light moisturizer. I use a pore strip every couple of months. I've been using this routine for a couple of years now and most people have no clue I'm 65. I look younger than I did 10 years ago. Well another reason people don’t like these is because peels like this and pushing out stuff with sebaceous filaments can actually enlarge your pores and make them worse. These are meant for blackheads really which I thought that’s what I had for the longest time till I finally learned it was sebaceous filaments. Using certain products to shrink pores is the way you actually get rid of them like with aha chemical peels or glycolic acid. Although I won’t lie I still enjoy doing these pore strips occasionally because it’s so satisfying to see. That’s why I like watching videos of them too

Honestly, I believe the best treatment for these is to double cleanse, oil cleanser first, followed by your favourite cleanser.

Absolutely agree. Also using salicylic acid-based cleansers! I have no more black pores on my nose since I use Effaclar (the green one) every day.

This is true in my experience. I started oil cleansing and I can literally feel the stuff coming out of my pores. I usually do it once I notice my skin/nose getting bumpy. I also use CeraVe cleanser with salicylic acid about every 2-3 days and the LaRoche Posay cleanser daily. I use Paulas Choice BHA chemical exfoliant as well. My skin has never been better.

You only have to use pore strips like twice before you have removed all the microfine hairs off your own nose. Those are the hairs that would be diffusing light or holding on to makeup powder. Enjoy your shiny nose forever.

@@tiasmith3499 I'm hoping it's the latter. I guess it's just that I really want to see the blackheads come out in real time, like so I can look at them and examine them lol.. I'm such an idiot. But I think I am using them right.. maybe not tho. But I clean my face really well and then for around ten minutes I steam my nose with a hot wet rag. Trying to make sure I open and loosen my pores. I make sure my nose is damp because it says it needs to be or they won't stick correctly. And I know it's sticking correctly because it feels like it's ripping my face skin off when I peel it off. But nothing ever comes out except for my little white hairs

My problem with pore strips is the amount of damage they do to the skin barrier. If those strips are able to rip out deep black heads, sebaceous filling, hairs & peach fuzz, what do you think it's doing to the skin on your face? Even in this video, this person's nose looks extremely irritated; personally I'd never recommend pore strips, especially for weekly use- ouch!

Dr Berg taught us that your face naturally has a certain amount of sebum in it. There's nothing bad or wrong about it. However, depending on your diet, you could develop too much sebum and therefore pimples, blackheads, etc.

This is plucking all the hairs, they may help the oil travel out of the pore? Could it then lead to more dependence on pore strips / alternative to remove the oxidised sebum. Myself, I pluck an eyebrow hair a few too many times and the hair can not grow back. These hairs are finer, probably more delicate.
