He WAS ALWAYS intelligent, just that most mistook his naïve aspect for stupidity so much that he got written off as an idiot nowadays. I hate it when so-called fans do this

He wasn't originally an idiot, his character got flanderized. Originally, he was naive, a bit slow on the uptake and not the best educated due to his life circumstances and his lack of interest in academic pursuits, but he had street smarts and at least some common sense even if he liked letting his fists do the talking more often than not. Unfortunately, later writers missed the nuance of his character and interpreted "not academic" and "street smart brawler" as "dumb jock".

Knuckles isn’t stupid. He’s gulliable and WAY too trustworthy as he constantly tries to see the best in people, but he’s far from stupid.

Knuckles" yelling sounds unrealistic. It is little over the top, specifically in 2:11. Protoman is similar, and I feel as if he is too calm in situations. When someone is fighting, a person wouldn't be so calm.

Given the context around 2:11, I'm not really sure how over the top it comes off as. Knuckles is piecing together what Break Man wants to do (sacrifice himself), and he's understandably angered by this. He's a very short-tempered character, so I'm not sure if dialing back his response is something that he would do in most circumstances. Given that Break Man was suggesting that they blow him up - I think anything besides an explosive rage from Knuckles during an already intense scene would have felt off. With Break Man, the voice itself is calm because he has a very cold demeanor; he's shut himself off from the rest of the world as a result of leaving Doctor Light's care years before. He felt betrayed by the man who 'fathered' him, and after Wily revived him he found himself not wanting to make the mistake of opening himself up emotionally to anyone again. He was effectively dead inside for a long time, and it's only now that we're seeing him start to open up again. Break Man usually remains pretty focused during battles as well, and it's only when that emotional baggage is brought up by Knuckles calling him out that it felt proper to change his mood.

Knuckles may be a short tempered character, but he is also laidback. He's not over the top screaming when yelling, like in conversations with Rouge in SA2. When angered, he still has a sense of calmness, especially when making comebacks, "Ha! That's a good one! 'YOUR emerald"?! Talking to you is a waste of time!" In Sonic X, yes, he isn't as laidback as his video game counterpart, but most of the time, he's only over the top screaming for comedic effect, and this situation seems to be more serious. As for Break Man, I can't really say I know too much of his character, I still think as if someone would feel a little concern when acting in conflict. He does start screaming very similar to Knuckles in 2:11, later in the comic though.

He can be laid back, yes, but again after hearing Break Man's proposal I don't think he would be holding anything back here. There are going to be different contexts between becoming fed up with someone who has been stealing pieces of the Master Emerald and becoming angry that someone suggests they give their life away needlessly. Knuckles is still a guy that lets his emotions get the best of him often, and I just feel that he's going to find it difficult to keep calm when Break Man hints that he should try to kill him. I can see that line for Break Man, too. I do think here, however; he's speaking from a sense of fatigue. In the storyline, he'd been through a lot of battles and other trauma. This has become a tired routine for him, and he's stuck in a mindset where he doesn't want to convey anything unless prompted - making Break Man hard to read. Here, he only changes his tone when Knuckles actually calls him out for trying to end his life. His demeanor doesn't see the need to change UNTIL Knuckles challenges him on it.

It's canon to itself. You see the SEGA games are the canon universe for us to follow. But everything else counts as a spinoff universe for us to follow. So every Sonic continuity is canon however the one you choose is the one you want canon.
