Very informative and interesting! Great job explaining what you bought for your budget board. The stage footage was great. I'm hoping to become part of the worship team at my church. I've been doing tons of research about what I might WANT for a worship board. But I already have everything I need, except for the amp sim/direct out. I like the "less is more" concept. Not knowing how the church views their worship team (I'm new), or what the guitars use, I will hope to find out this weekend. I like that I learned from a young man (I'm 68). Blessings and peace to you.

Very impressed with such a simple board. Quick question, do y’all play with a click track? Because if the drummer gets off tempo, that delay is gonna sound nasty without a tap tempo delay.
@devinzschoche8782
@devinzschoche8782 8 месяцев назад
I almost always use a click track, and it's helpful, although I think there is way more importance in listening intently and having solid rhythm in your picking hand. For instance, with this particular pedalboard, I cannot accurately pinpoint the tempo and match it with the delay pedal because of the fact that there is no digital screen or feedback that will tell me the milliseconds or bpm. I also don't plan on bending over between songs and changing the delay speed or feedback either. But none of those things matter if you find a single delay setting you like and can play well to a band. In the few instances where the drummer is off, we would cut the click and lock in together as a band rather to the click, and it didn't matter my delay settings. I don't have a tap tempo delay, I just made sure to pick and strum accordingly to the band based on how I know my delay pedal works. It becomes intuitive. Guys went decades without having click tracks or tap tempo, and they still used delay with great success.

This approach is better than "buying all the newest stuff whenever it comes out" as guitarists in a Praise field are guilty of. Whores for gear, its really gross.

All starts at your fingers, followed by your ears. Pedals can only do so much. Fun? Sure! Cool, well yea if you ask me. Necessary... not entirely

I think this is a very useful video and your comment on how each pedal has its unique personality/sound is cool. I would suggest for anyone who is starting his pedal adquisition voyage is that if you are not a "pedal" or "analog" guy, go for the pod go or any other multieffects. Devin talks about the stomp, but the pod go was retailed 450 and on rare ocassions go on sale. If you are like many people on a tighter budget than 250, I suggest the joyos and other cheap pedal clones. I started playing with those and yes you can sound decently, remember most of the sound depends on the guitarist and not on the gear, obviusly it can make a difference, but you will learn like Devin says what kind of sound you aim for and how to get it.
@devinzschoche8782
@devinzschoche8782 2 года назад
I love this comment! And I TOTALLY forgot about the stomp, let alone the M series or the rest of the POD products. There's also the TECH21 rigs and the older boss GT series. SO many good products that are older and still get the job done! I have an old GT-8 that I'm thinking I might just have to do a video on now! Thank you

Love the video man! The tones were fantastic and I love the context of a backing track and live use. I’m not a fan of the SD-1 myself but overall the tones were awesome. Absolutely love that you touched on sounding like yourself as well. I’m in the process of making a similar video about having a solid worship board that’s a bit more expensive than this but no super expensive like the majority of RU-vid videos and rig rundowns of worship boards are. Have you got another rig you’re using other than this?

Not gonna lie, I was expecting your tone to be far from usable. But all in all, it’s passable. Cuts through the mix, and gets the job done. Sure, there are better rigs, but this would be a dope summer camp rig!

Nice one! Are ur pedalboard going just straight to the mixer? Also..how did u resolve the monitoring? Thanks!
@devinzschoche8782
@devinzschoche8782 9 месяцев назад
Yes. I will either send the signal from the pedalboard to a di box, or straight into the mixer/interface. It really depends on what you have. If you don't have a pedal that is working as a amp/cab sim you'll likely run into trouble though.
@patrikzanyik3984

@@devinzschoche8782 Wanna get some advice, based on ur experience..If I have lets say an Joyo AS as an amp sim, pared with a Mooer Micro DI whitch has a basic cab sim(and has an XLR out). Am I able to go straight to a mixer with the XLR output, and would be fine? Thanks!
@devinzschoche8782
@devinzschoche8782 9 месяцев назад
@patrikzanyik3984 you can put any signal striaght into a mixer so long as either the signal is a balanced low impedance signal, OR your mixer has built in functions or tools to take unbalanced high impedance signal. (I know some berhinger mixers sometimes have inputs that can take this type of signal). The signal from your board is going to be a unbalanced high impedance signal so typically you need a DI box to convert the signal. If your pedals are simulating a amp AND a cab and you're happy with the sound, just make sure you know what the type of signal is and you should be good! Based on the gear you're talking about, you should be set and ready to shred! If it has that XLR out it's almost safe to assume you can plug into whatever. I don't remember if there's a ground lift switch on those Mooer's, but if there is that's an added bonus. Plug it into a pa speaker and play around to dial it in the way you like! Henceforth you should be in good shape!

@@devinzschoche8782 Actually i didn't bought any of this. I'm way to confused with this things atm, cause there is so much choise on the internet, u can't even decide what to get. So it's hard for me to decide, is it sounds good or not :D There is a ground lift switch on the Mooer DI, even tho I'm not sure for what is it used. Thank u very much, I'm greatfull for ur advices!
@devinzschoche8782
@devinzschoche8782 9 месяцев назад
Ground switches will interrupt any ground loops between equipment! Sometimes there are weird things with electricity, amps, pedals, etc and it creates hum or buzz. Usually flipping or pressing the ground lift will remove or reduce the unwanted noise! What is your budget and what are you wanting to build, if you don't mind me asking?

@@devinzschoche8782 just how so many of the worship boards have pedals that are insanely expensive and some of them are just expensive clones of cheap pedals 1981 Drv is just a Rat for example. I’ve read stories of people getting told they won’t be in the band with the small pedalboards they had.
@devinzschoche8782
@devinzschoche8782 2 года назад
@@isaacandhismusic1153 goodness.. 🤣 I can understand that it's easy for people to assume that because you have expensive pedals that automatically means you know what you're doing. But the hard truth is that pedals or any gear for that matter don't define you or your talent. If churches are not letting people play because their board isn't good enough especially if they haven't even heard the player, then they are not being a church at all. That's literally making judgements and generalizations without learning a person. Learning about another person and their jounery should be first before gear or talent are even a question to consider. I don't want to encourage people that they should walk away from where christ is calling them, or to walk away from their church family, but if gear or lack there of is an issue before talent as well as where the volunteers spiritual journey is at then the church or maybe more specially the worship team leadership is far more concerned with image and appearance rather then engagement with christ and life change. That's like a cancer within the church. I might not know the whole situation, so I don't want to say anything that is hurtful or irrational, but some fair questions to ask are: "how are my chops as a player" "How are my relationships with the other volunteers and staff" and finally "what do the other volunteers and staff seem to prioritize, not by their words alone, but their actions". Food for thought? I don't know if that's at all insightful?

@@devinzschoche8782 💯 I spent a good portion of my life in churches and in religious schools. Have since fell away from religion. But it always sticks with me that some churches were about the message and the community, inclusiveness etc. Others were so hypocritical and about the image and not about faith at all.
@devinzschoche8782
@devinzschoche8782 2 года назад
@@isaacandhismusic1153 I'm extremely sorry to hear. Unfortunately brokenness is everywhere, and I usually say often there is more brokenness within the church rather than outside the church. People often struggle with that concept, and due to human error and pride people get hurt inside the communities that are supposed to be a haven or a hospital. I hope all is well for you on your journey and best wishes for your future!
