Oh hey I've been to this Chinese buffet. Yeah, most people only go there b/c it's cheap. Riverside is a fairly poor area. They have a deal where you pay a fee to fill up a bunch of to-go boxes to take home. Also does Cali not have Chinese buffet setups like this one? They're pretty common in Texas and their quality basically varies between meh -> absolute garbage. On another note, I'm pretty sure I know where they came from to get to the restaurant, and Aleks definitely fucked up. It would have been like a 20+ min drive, so I imagine on scooters it probably took something like an hour+ for them (in Texas heat lol).

There's usually a few dishes in a buffet that are great while everything else is garbage... The buffet near here has some pretty good ribs, wings and pizza. But things like jello are disgusting at a buffet... I don't know what they do to it.

I’ve been to a restaurant just like this, it was next to a Kmart and outside there was a faygo vending machine.

Dude... I used to go to that restaurant with my dad when I was a little kid. Every weekend when I would stay with him we would eat at that buffet. It used to be so lit, but I guess they've really gone down hill in the past 13 years.

You guys think this place is bad? There's a place in Merced, CA called Champion Grill (previously Hibachi Grill, but it shut down and reopened with just a new name) that's worse than this. My boyfriend and I went and all the food was bad and tasted like nothing. The seating areas were split into two and one side had a western theme and the other side had a modern theme. Some workers were sorting out a bunch of green beans on a whole table next to where we were eating. In the middle of the night, my boyfriend work up puking, shitting, and had something like a brain aneurysm.

I remember walking in this place years ago, and I was like "Yeah. Nope." And, I was out of there.

Worse than that one Mexican joint the Creatures went to. It’s a faint memory, but this just took the cake on worst restaurant they’ve gone to😂😂

All I pray is that all of the people that were seriously there to eat are much better off now, and that all of the staff and cooks have found better jobs and have learned.

I went to an On The Border which for some reason was fully packed with multiple large parties. I ordered my food which took 45 minutes to just bring my drinks that all seemed half filled with cold water, and the small steak and pasta came half raw. The steak was red and bleeding, completely cold in the middle, and the pasta was solid and not fully pastafied. I asked them if they could cook the steak more, which they said yes to, but in reality, they took it to the kitchen, microwaved it for a couple seconds, then took 10 more minutes to bring it back out still cold and still bleeding. My friend who coincidentally went with his family at the exact same time unknown to me until later, shared the same exact problems he and his family had when they went. To this day i will never go back to an on the border ever again.

What if you did like a restaurant 50/50. Could be an average place or a 1 star place. Then you had to decide which you went to. Might eliminate any bias towards the food, or an aversion to trying it.

This is like the same dishes exactly as my hometown chinese buffet it may just be a texas thing, butsome buffets have some great food i guess is a matter of taste.

I feel like these types of Chinese buffets are very common in the south. My town has at least 3 of them and they all serve basically the same food as this one.

The problem with buffets : Having cooks who don't give a fuck use whatever is available to them to make garbage that "look" ok but really taste disgusting....
