Ive had migraines since I was 5 and I still don’t have them controlled at age 36. I would say I have lost 30-40% of my life to them. Anyone who suffers from them has my deepest compassion x
@@MortynFriends im have migraine for the past 15 years. now am 34. Yes i have crowded teeth. Im not eating healthy diet. Because many foods like nuts, beans, high masala foods triggers migraine for me. So im already afraid to eat anything😔 and eating simple foods that has not much nutrition in it.
So basically I can't eat anything Two year update: I am nearing the end of my degree so my stress is much less. I eat a lot of fish, chicken, and eggs. And I've started working out. My migraines have deceased significantly. I used to have a minimum of a migraine a week. Now I can go a whole month without an attack.
TRIGGERS: lack of vitamins, Dehydration, improper sleep, caffeine/stimulates, Alcohol, fried foods, dairy, High intake of nitrates, High Sodium containing foods, over use of OTC’s, many more
Dude I've suffered from severe hemoplegic migraines and sinusitis for 30 years and you're the first person I've listened to that acknowledged Aspertame as a trigger. I can do blind studies and it's DEFINITELY an IMMEDIATE trigger for me!
Thank you for this information. I’m in the process of restructuring my diet to remove triggers. As much as I love cheese chocolate and ice cream, I value my health more.
revaluating alcohol triggering migranes for me: 4/5 times is probably the best thing. the thought of going out drinking makes me cringe, because it is literally 1 hour of pleasure and 10 hours of pain - not a good choice ever.. but then it gets annoying, in a slavic country having to insist that I dont want to drink in social situation, 1.they dont believe me and think im just making excuses. or 2.they try to pressure me and get upset if I keep refusing. Lol sometimes i hate certain ppl, but still love ppl who care and respect even if they dont understand
All I know when I start seeing bright light for long period of time I already have migraine. I just close my eyes and relax until my eyes is normal. After that I love to drink orange juice pineapple Mango feels great.
I had migraines when I was very young but by the grace of God I outgrew them by age 12. I seemed to associate foods that I ate at the beginning of a migraine as a trigger but it doesn't necessarily mean that the food that I ate caused the migraine. At the beginning of one particular migraine my aunt gave me a tuna sandwich and a glass of cola. After that migraine I wouldn't eat tuna with mayonnaise (or anything else prepared with mayonnaise) or drink cola even though I did have the early stages of a migraine before I ate the sandwich and drank the cola. The thought of eating anything with mayonnaise or drinking cola was a bit nauseating. 49 years since my last migraine and I love both, go figure. I believe there are no specific foods that trigger migraines in all people but it's possible that on a personal level some foods that the sufferer has previously associated with migraines may in fact trigger a migraine in that individual. That same applies to smells.
If you outgrew them by the grace of god, did you also get the awful migraine because of the grace of god? Or is it only the grace of god when it's convenient to you?
@@publicspeakner2064 Mine were so violent all I could do is take 2 extra strength Excedrin, put a cold wet rag on my forehead and hope I fell asleep. More often I ended up vomiting in the toilet then laying my head on the cool bathroom floor until I fell asleep.

I have very severe chronic migraines. Coffee helps me.... Chocolate helps as well... I point out that I eat quality chocolate. I always wonder if the additives and preservatives in coffee creamer etc. causes more of an issue than the coffee etc. I also have urticaria, flushing, food cravings and emotional fluctuation etc as a prodromal. I have allergic reactions to all Wine. This was very interesting. Most alcahol makes my face feel like it is burning.... Oddly, I am allergic to walnuts.
Interesting. I have suffered from severe chronic migraines as well, for 30+ years. They have decreased in frequency over the years, but I still get brutally severe migraines from time to time, as I did today, replete with multiple rounds of vomiting and dry heaves... I drink a single cup of coffee every morning and eat up to a full bar of quality dark chocolate a day and can do so for months and not have a migraine at all. However, I had a healthy serving of walnuts in my oatmeal this morning that I usually don’t have. Not sure I’ll be eating ever walnuts again.
So I went to the hospital yesterday for what I thought was more serious than a bad migraine, as I was feverish, shaking, dizzy, my vision blurred and I couldn’t focus, vomiting and felt extremely lethargic like I could barely keep my eyes open. I just realized that I actually had eaten so many of these foods the day/ night before… such as orange juice, chocolate ice cream, a chocolate chip cookie with walnuts, but then I also had a very healthy dinner with white rice, avocado, sweet potato, cucumber and tofu. With this dinner (which I ate later than I usually eat dinner, about 9 pm) I also had a sparkling water with lime juice (more citrus juice). The next day when I had the migraine attack I hardly ate anything, in the morning I had a plum, a banana and a slice of avocado toast but vomited it all up shortly afterwards. I didn’t eat anything else until around 6 pm when I got out of the hospital. (All they did for me at the hospital was inject my neck with lidocaine shots.) I had a veggie sandwich (no cheese, no meat) on whole grain bread, a bag of lays chips, and a vitamin water from a subway just outside the hospital. I felt better but still not great. Now it’s the next day and I feel a little better but still have some pressure/ pain in my head. It’s crazy how long migraines last and how difficult they are to treat. I will not be eating anything past 6-7 pm anymore and definitely avoiding citrus juices and chocolate from now on. 😢
Here are my triggers: mascara, heat, cold weather, sleeping in the wrong position, strong light, loud music and noises, vibrations, certain foods (I haven't yet identified which), running, laughing too much, exercising, alcohol, tiredness, tv and cellphone, perfumes, detergents
When I was in junior high 8th grade, after a P E class I wanted a milk shake......after that lunch break I fell asleep during class... the bell rang, I awoke and ran to get sick in the rest room...got home via the school bus, ..throbbing headache, had to retreat to a dark room, with zero sound. Later on, I was a cheerleader, screaming and being loud for my #34 boyfriend quarter back, school dance followed and I had another attack..... Today, 60+ years later I get the wavy line in my right eye, can't see perfectly, but am able to manage with minimal discomfort-my trigggers are as follows: lack of sleep - red wine - Godiva Chocolates with raspberry filling.....getting too excited about something, and lack of sleep will bring those minimal symptoms on. [kind of a lengthy story, ha...]
The biggest trigger that opens up the cerebral arteries for me is orange citrus fruit, the oil in the air from someone peeling even a small mandarin can floor me. The other huge one is not crying when I need to, trying to hold the tears back, these can last for weeks. Ginger is a phenomenal help for me.
me too i thot holding back on crying is highly a trigger for me . which seems to abnormal and most of the people said i shud not be too wmotional but i cant it gives me migraine which last long
I have migraine but during ramadhan i dont get any illness or migraine. I become healthier during ramadhan so fasting doesnt trigger migrain or gastric
No mention of dehydration here. That seems very strange as I have known this as a leading cause of my aura migraines for 30 years. If you're going to include fasting you also need to include dehydration.
For me, the dehydration follows the migraine onset. The vomiting and diarrhea ensure that! I drink a lot of water and eat carefully so I'm usually well dehydrated.
very good information. i have all the triggers mentioned as food triggers…however the walnut study as you mentioned how they were looking at that really is sort of backwards…depending on how they asked about walnuts. i never have noticed walnuts as a trigger, but because I DO NOT like them at all, i have never eaten them intentionally. i avoid them like other foods i have a great dislike for for some reason that is uncommon. but as far as food triggers, those are really the most noticeable ones i have continually had problems with; the worst being msg. the migraine is within minutes or half hour, and stays three days and is the worst kind i ever get.
I definitely second on fasting. During and after a migraine attack I usually don’t eat and drink nothing but water or something that’s hydrating like electrolytes. Only eat unprocessed foods like vegetables, whole grains, some fruit (but not a lot since even fruit sugars can make a migraine worse). Definitely avoid processed meats and dairy. Avoid sugary or caffeinated drink. Avoid eating late at night, try to stop eating by 6-7 pm. These things all have helped me but then I’ll get moments of weakness where I ignore avoiding triggers and of course I get punished for it. 😢
One time it was after Gatorade I got one so I never drink it. However I recently discovered some people drink it to recover from migraines. I think it's related to whatever triggers panic attacks or negative reactions like nausea .. whatever one was doing before it happens forms a neurological association which in actuality may not be the cause.
yes loss of potassium and magnesium and salt. will definitely trigger a migraine however Gatorade is so bad for us due to dyes and the sugar your better off with water and foods with potassium and magnesium say a Sweet potato with almonds maybe. i add salt to my coffee which really helped a ton n i mix if half coffee half chicory root
Honestly, mine get so bad, I’d literally do anything and I mean ANYTHING to make them stop. It’s by far the worst and scariest thing I experience. It feels like my skull is being slowly being crushed in a vice while simultaneously being beat with a hammer, and someone shoving an ice pick through my eye. All of my senses become extremely heightened, and every little thing causes vomiting, dry heaving, I have moments up to like 20 seconds where I literally cant even get a breath in like I’m suffocating because my abdominal muscles are so tense, I cant expand my lungs, I get tingly, on the verge of passing out, I cant hold anything down, not even a sip of water. Severe dizziness, and vertigo, and it just increases in intensity over time. They last for about 12-14 hours. It’s something I wouldn’t even wish on my worst enemy. I’d rather be severely tortured than have a migraine. It’s by far the most painful thing I experience. To the point that I break down bawling my eyes out. My work never believed me when I’d call out, so recently I went in with one so they could actually see how bad they are for themselves and they finally believe me. Mind you, I work in a brightly lit kitchen with all kinds of sounds and smells. I’ve yet to find any over lap that causes them. It’s random. I may get 10 in a month, I may go 2 months without one. I just never know and that’s almost scarier than the migraines themselves. I’ve missed so many days of work, I’ve had so many tests done on me, and no one can give me any answers. They started about 11 years ago, and my god, they’ve only gotten worse with time. I’ve broken bones, have had severe skateboarding accidents, I’ve been deathly ill, I got covid really bad, and still, NOTHING can compare to a migraine. I know they say breaking your femur is the worst pain next to child birth, but I’d put migraines right in there too. And I’m not suicidal and I’d never do anything like that, but the pain and everything that comes with them gets so intense, I’d literally rather die. Again, I would never do anything to myself, But there are just no words in the English language to properly describe it, I’m being metaphorical for people who have never had them. I wish I knew what a just regular headache felt like. Its so debilitating, scary, painful, and honestly, I’d rather experience an eternity in Hell than ever have one again. Thank god my wife is so understanding and basically takes care of me like a child when it happens, because I literally cant take care of myself. Idk what I’d do without her. She’s a real one for standing by me all these years and going above and beyond to make it as bearable as possible when it happens.
Mine are like that except they can last for 3 or 4 days. I keep plastic bags under the bed so I can throw up in them because I can't move to get to the bathroom Go to your doctor and ask to try "Sumatriptan." Most of the time, if I take Sumatriptan early enough the migrane will be there, but numbed. Hope it will help you and others too.
Im 29 yrs of age, ive suffered since age of 10. It has a mind of its own too what trigger's it. Weather, sound, stress, alcohol, light, diet, and, sleep.
correct me if im wrong but im not sure i would call caffeine a trigger, i might instead stay caffeine withdrawal is a trigger. if adenosine is linked to vasodilation, then adenosine antagonists should improve headaches that result from cranial vasodilation.
You stop the migraine headaches with coffee because caffeine is a type of pain reliever but it is also addictive and so when to stop drinking it especially when you have been drinking large amounts just priorly you will go through withdrawals and have withdrawal migraine headaches. The trick is if you want to stop drinking coffee with out the headaches, you start slowly and gradually weaning yourself off of coffee drinking. Say your accustomed to drinking 4 cups a day well the next day you only drink 3 or 2 cups, then next day 2 cups , then 1 cup, and lastly 1/2 cup and you’ll be pain free.
It's scary the lack of knowledge in medicine at times. And the method that professionals come to conclusions. Speaking to a number of the points made. I will start with the fact that migraines are almost always linked to gastric issues, so it's not surprising that foods are triggers, or precursors to other triggers (such as certain exercises and types of lighting). Not to sound like a broken record, but.... Fasting: effects people on a primarily non-ketogenic diet in regards to migraines, because of fluctuations in blood sugars effecting all manner of bodily functions. That one is easy to explain, because it's the opposite with those on (truely) ketogenic diets. Coffee: helps normalise, or stabalise, your blood sugar level, however this is totally undone by it being one of the "foods" most saturated in pesticides, so can easily trigger migraines via this pathway, in this way it is associated with gut inflammation. Dairy: in itself should not trigger migraines.... it does however because of the cheap ingredients used in most nowadays, ie; flavour and colours. Also most ice-cream has GMO corn (or other grain) derived thickener in the form of maltodextrin or dextrin. Yoghurt has "natural starch" often as GMO corn (or other grain) derivative. Cheese often has plant based rennin. All of those additives will trigger migraines independently.... either as the result of the method of processing, or from being GMO/laced with chemical pesticides such as glyphosate. But with aged cheese, as with aged meat, it's more than likely the proteins in the bacteria and funguses that are being reacted to also (by way of a immune response), or compounding with the GMO/pesticides. I have found that home made ice cream, yoghurt, and cheeses are fine to eat and never trigger migraines, if you are making it without "cheat" packets. Citrus fruits: like every plant produce natural pesticides as a defense against pests, citrus are higher in neurotoxins than other fruits, this is likely compounded by the heavy spraying on, and fumigation of, the majority of fruit crops, especially those imported. Alcohol: as above is more often than not made cheaply from GMO/heavily sprayed grain crops, and some mash added back into the mix for flavour. Less so in white spirits.... I'm sure you get the drift by now.... I'm not going to beat the Lion diet drum again but look into it.... Same causes for most illnesses common across the western world, and other places they have provided "aid": hormone disrupting, neurotoxic, pesticides, and other chemicals; in our food, water, other beverages, environment, and atmosphere. Yet the same people responsible for most of it are trying to scare you with a part percentage rise in plant food (that's greening the planet), and a non-existent rise in white supremacy. I hope that this helps people capable of critical thought and with a modicum of willpower to stop poisoning themselves as much as is practicable.
I think the MSG is true. I've got terrible headache and dizzines and sometimes I feel my face flushing and I feel hot. It's been two days now. How to cure this? Anyone knows?
I love chocolate and ramen, but I will do *anything* to not get a migraine. Also if nitrates are a trigger for you, Buy great value Bacon because it dosent give me migraines or try to eat a very low portion.
Sure does Teresa. It´s called self-torture. I´m 33 yo and have migraines since I was 12 yo. In my daily diet, there is at least one product mentioned in this slide. It will take time, money, patience and discipline to try and eliminate most of them (I mean.... coffee is life).
Try vitamin D shots and get enough potassium, magnesium and calcium, drink sweet tea, get enough sleep, get off the screen, drink atleast 3 l of water a day and oranges help to
Ramadán isn’t fasting for ling periods of time; it is fasting through the day and then eating as much as you want, right before you go to sleep. This is not actually very healthy and may be a cause. Actual fasting for long periods of time, even through the night should be also studied.
Flavours choclate coffe strawberry Citrus fruits Banana Rice Artificial sweetener Caffeine Energy drinks Beverages Something cold All above gives me migraine Wondering what should I eat
I have been hearing mixed reports about msg and while I can't eat ramen noodles without having a headache the next day I can eat Chinese food with no problem. I went to a Chinese buffet for Christmas dinner and pigged out hardcore. I was expecting to have a headache the next day, especially when I woke up, but nothing. Only a dull ache that came on about half way through the day because of physical activity (I think). Maybe there's different kinds of msg that are used in ramen but it seems to be one of the worst triggers after onion and now that I have cut it out of my diet my headaches are not as bad. Also I can eat pasta and some of the more expensive ramen but the cheaper cup O soup is a no go and I have no idea why.
@@doreenmoonga6580 onion is my worst trigger. Even small amounts of dehydrated or heavily cooked onion will give me headaches and sometimes will have a delayed reaction. Causing a headache 2 or 3 days after ingestion. It took me years to make that connection.
In the fruit and vegetable category, grapes, strawberries, and onions can be added as triggers. A lifesaver for me has been Treximet. I understand that its precursor, Imitrex was such an advance in Britain that the scientist who found it received a knighthood.
Caffeine can work really well as a treatment (not preventative) for some if it is not used regularly. If you were just recently prescribed that by a doc, and you have not tried a bunch of other meds, I would find another doc. That sort of recommendation is at least thirty years old. I would assume the doc is not at all up to date on migraine treatment if that was the first thing your doc recommended.
Ibuprofen 400. Got to the dangerous amount of 6-8 pills a day, sometimes even for a week. Or Imigran/Sumatriptan. But that $hit is expensive and it hurts as a bi*tch when I injected it.
I take Topamax daily as a maintenance medication and Imatrex when I get a migraine. The Imitrex works well for me as an immediate fix but you shouldn't take it more than a couple times a week.
Finding relief from migraines has always been a struggle, but Planet Ayurveda’s natural remedies have changed that. I’m so grateful for their commitment to holistic well-being!"
what to eat: normal bread, normal water, meat (chicken), some fish, most fruits and vegetables what not to eat: chocolate, sugar, caffeine (soda, coffee), msg (salty food like chips and noodles), dairy (milk, cheese) In conclusion, don't eat fast food and comfort food. Eat meat and drink water and don't miss breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I can't really not eat them but atleast I'll try to eat them rare or less and eat more healthy food it doesn't trigger my migraine maybe sometimes only
Don't eat things that are out of bags or boxes, highly processed snacks and lunch meats. Try organic, non gmo meats. Nothing with a ton of scientific names/ingredients you cannot pronounce. Research every ingredient. Research is your best friend. Drink a gallon of spring water daily and limit your phone, laptop, and tablet exposure. Get good quality exercise AND sleep.
My neurosurgeon told me that eating too much salt was raising my blood pressure and that the vessels in my head were swelling - high blood pressure - and causing the migraines. He advised I cut down on all salty foods, processed meats such as bacon, sausage, pepperoni, etc., msg, cheeses, etc., any known chemical triggers. It has helped.
`@@funwithanzuandayat1781Try keeping a notepad or calendar with a list of things you eat every day and other things you are exposed to. Example: If I'm driving down a highway and a crop duster flies over, my nose begins to bleed immediately. I now walk as fast as I can past perfume counters in department stores. I use only non-scented detergent to wash my clothes. Simple shampoo, no fragrance added bars of soap, dish detergent, etc. You may spot a pattern. If so, do your best to eliminate your triggers. What bothers one person may not bother another. I heard about a woman who is allergic to pasta - but when she visited home in Italy, she was able to eat everything there, including pasta. A lot of American products contain preservatives, food coloring some people are allergic to, and have been genetically changed in one way or another to help a crop develop faster, grow less with more product, less leaves, etc. I cannot spray my house for bugs. I've found a product that is a gel that can be applied to a paper plate with a little attractant, such as lettuce. It works and I don't have to breathe poison. An allergy doctor can do a skin prick test to see what you are most allergic to. Pine, oak and other tree pollens are bad for me and guess where I live? Yep, can't see the house for the trees. The skin prick tests check for food allergies too. And pets. I simply cannot have cats around anymore. Eleven days in hospital on breathing machines convinced me. There are all sorts of triggers, not only food. Please do try to keep a record, and I wish all the best for you.
Interesting that caffeine helps a headache but can also trigger a headache. So you have a 50/50 shot it’ll help you or harm you. Life is a gamble isn’t it.
