@@IAMCDB I didn't see the video because I felt so bad. What I have done in the past with bad results from a razor is put it away and deal with it later on down the road when I improved my technique. Generally, the mistakes that I have made was too much pressure or the setting was too aggressive from the start. Thank you for being a good sport and making me feel a little better. @@JT-nf9tk This one was all on me Joseph. I had a substandard lather as a result of using a new brush and I didn't use good technique with the razor. Please, do not feel bad at all. I never blame someone for a suggestion that works great for them. I really appreciate your suggestion.
Well, I had to headshave this morning and used my Model T with a new Rockwell blade. I used Cremo Sandalwood for the great slickness. Also, I don't have to use a brush, etc. I save that for my face. Alas, I did get a very tiny weeper on the left side of my head, but got my BBS on. Anyway, keep the videos coming Chris!
Ouch! I hate when that happens. Like you, I prefer synthetic brushes. They are the only ones I use now for many reasons. I still get a better shave on my head with a DE razor. Like you say, to each their own. You should have done this one tomorrow. Sunday bloody Sunday.....
Stone him for encouraging carts. Lol. I'm so glad that you encourage everyone to do what works best for them whether traditional or cart. I know I enjoy a cart every once in awhile. You're right when you say your mileage may vary.
Believe me, I'm taken a fair amount of crap for talking about and using carts:). My primary concern is using what works best for me and also sending the message to the viewers to do the same. I want people to break out of the paradigm of being told what's best for them and figure it out for themselves:) If it works, then do it. It's as simple as that.

I use to rock a baldy & i remember carts worked better on my head too, For my face my preference is DE's & if I was to head shave again I would use a cart.
Could be a technique thing. Try a second mirror to get the angle better on the back of the dome. For me DE and SE beat carts by a longshot on the dome.
I tried doing a dome shave with my Rockwell 6C about two months ago... I now have a permanent scar on top of my head. Forget the bravery... Use what works! For me, the Defender is tops. Thanks for giving it the old "college try", as my dad would say

@@IAMCDB It must have something to do with the contour and shape of one's head. I watch Ruds shave his dome with a Blackland Vector, and he makes it look easier than opening a box of cereal. I use a Rockwell with a 2 plate and disfigure myself. I will stick with the Defender and if I'm traveling and in a pinch, I'll grab a Bic disposable 5 blade from a retail store.

Not all shaves can be nick free. We all have bad shave days. Hopefully that boar breaks in nicely for you. I enjoy the boar brush I bought from Paragon shaving.
Good video. Sorry for the bad shave but for me personally the ModelT Paired with a Rockwell blade gives me a BBS shave, but as you say we are all not alike, have a great weekend!
I had a similar experience using a Feather Razor with a Feather blade... I recently switched to Astra blades for my face shave and I’ve been much happier. I might give the head shave another try with Astra... hopefully it will be better experience
Like you, i started out using badger and boar brushes and switched to using synthetic almost exclusively !!! Not sure what it is man I used to get great lather out of my badger brushes but now it’s hit and miss lol I do one shave and I get great results and another shave later on it’s terrible!! I do have to say that I never get a good lather on a head shave from my badger or boar it’s just the surface area I guess makes the lather super thin
I find that with synthetics, I can always face lather, but with boars, I have to bowl lather to have enough suds for three passes. The exception is with the Semogue 830 but I have to really make sure it's been soaking for a long time.
I'm not sure why there's such a difference but there definitely is. I might do an experiment at some point where I put the exact same soap in the exact same bowls and see how it goes when lathering with natural hair vs synthetic.
IAMCDB hey Chris thx for the video. I dome shave with the merkur 34c and it’s a breese. The touch up i do with a gilette mach 3 but the merkur is a great safety razor option. Just my 2cents...

Definitely try the micromatic in the dome though I think it’s angle is similar to the carts and the geometry definitely is great for my dome at least.... I started off using the carts for my head and they definitely give a better shave than my DEs but since started using the micromatic I can’t go back to the carts just works very efficiently
That is a good video. Shaves are NOT always great. I use DE and cart for head shaves, carts around ears and top, rest open comb DE. Have you tried the LEAF razor for dome? I also do not like natural hair brushes, just synthetics.....less drama.
Carts are best for head shaves from my limited experience DE is a no go!!!!!!! I've needed a blood transfusion after a decent head shave lol your head has lot of bumps and valleys that a cart works for you you can see them in the video by the way great video I like the blue brush
Hey bro, you cut your head because your shave technique was so aggressive, like you are shaving with cartridge razor. You have to go easier with short strokes, no pressure, first pass WTG and relather the spots you want to pass again.You need more time for the process (thats good for me, i really enjoy traditional shaving)but the results are better than cartridges for sure. Also all the boar brushes need to be used several times before splits it's hair and get softer. Keep uploading man you are awesome!!
Thinner lathers are a bitch with natural hair. synthetic is easier to deal with when u over water the lather. Plus when u use natural and ur lather is thinner u pretty much have to swipe (painting strokes) using the side. U use the tip which is fine but is known to take lather off.
To be honest Rockwell Model T isn’t home runner by Rockwell as far as compare to a Rockwell6s and even 6 c I found 6S is far better then ModelT as far as my usage of both of it , I see you have had some pleasant shaved by Cart but not with Model T it’s not smooth shaver by the way hope you will healed up well have a nice weekend my friend

Just wondering if you know anything about the new razor from globalshaveclub, it’s an exact replica of the Gillette fat boy coming out in august of this year??? I’ve been thinking about getting a Model T or maybe a 6s Rockwell but can’t decide? Thank you for the video.
I haven't seen it but I'll tell you my feelings having not looked at it. If it's an exact replica then why not just buy the original? That is to say, if there are no improvements I'd just buy a vintage fatboy. They've already proven durable and effective. Of the choices you've mentioned I'd go with the 6s. I believe it's a better shaver and almost assuredly will last longer than the Model T.
Sorry you had such a rotten shave there, Chris. I had a crappy experience myself in the opposite direction. I also prefer cart/disposables for my head, but I was in a rush yesterday, and angry with my eldest son, and ended taking a chunk out of my top lip. If I were to use any DE on my loaf, it would have to be a DOC.

It's funny Ken, the real bleeding didn't start till after the shave was over. I cleaned up and went in the living room to sit down and felt something running down my forehead. It was blood from the cut on the top of my head. I guess I opened it back up when I finished up and didn't know it:)
