I'm having similar end breakages. We're doing DIY, but I'm pretty handy, and very patient. We've broken at least two full boxes and we're only 25% done. I've installed hardwood through and entire house and it looks amazing and is perfect. We have a SolidCore Vinyle Flooring by Twelve Oaks. I am never installing vinyl flooring ever again. This is 5.5mil floor so we were expecting a high quality product. Next time we are doing laminate as the base level.
Thanks. This wasn't a fun in installation. Hopefully this video helps others from making the same mistake. Stay away from this flooring. There's too many good vinyl floors on the market.
Inferior yes, but the drop in the overlap lock was from a void in the floor.. while not always possible to get a perfect floor this product requires it with that system.. always a pain In The butt, keep some compatible glue for those pesky seams if using the overlap lock system.
Thx , Great video , I installed lowes smartcore pro 20 mil , yeah its 4 $ a sq ft Its probably not the best , but pretty good . I was told a local store had goid prices i took a sample home the sample sticker said it was like 10 mil , i cut a sample apart and it was like 5 mil ,. Cheap china crap
I'm purchasing a house in central Florida and replacing the carpet with luxury vinyl flooring. After watching lots of youtube videos I'm looking at lifeproof (6mil) and nucore (20mil). Any recommendations around those price points?
I like the Lifeproof a lot, but the Nucore Performance which is in the upper $3's is the next step up when it comes to durability. However, the Lifeproof your looking at is usually durable enough for most homes, but if you want something more durable check out the Nucore Performance.
We purchased Shaw flooring from Lowe's on 8/28/2021 as part of a remodel. Not long after the floor was installed (by us), we noticed the floor separating and cracking in various places. The install was straightforward and followed the instructions to the letter. Shaw was contacted about this issue, and a claim was started A third party inspector was sent to our home. We got the claim back, and was denied. Said the floor was separating and cracking due to poor installation. Really? There's only one way to install this floor. We followed the instructions, and nothing was forced. Very disappointed in this company. We spent 2200 dollars on this floor and they don't want to make this right. We're not looking to have the whole floor replaced, just the damaged areas. This floor also has a 30 year warranty. For what? I'f your not going to stand behind your product, then don't offer a warranty. Sounds like they'll use any excuse to get out of helping the customer. We will never buy from this company again. Horrible experience. We spent alot of money, and time to on installing this floor. I guess since they have our money, that's all they care about. So sad. Nothing is made to last.
No its doing that because its a poor quality product. The manufacture actually replaced the first floor they sold the client with a slighlty better floor , but this slightly better floor was actually already returned by a previous customer. Some of the boards weren't even in boxes, they were actually wrapped in tape.
@@JonesKnows oh interesting. In my experience it’s from an Unlevel subfloor. Possibly going over an unlevel tile flooring without feather finishing first. Especially with the drop and lock. Also i noticed in another video you used 1/2 inch cork as an underlayment for vinyl flooring. That is a big no no and stated in the Lifeproof directions. That floor will eventually fail. I suggest reading the directions fully before installation
