Our trip to Moab wasnt all perfect. Our friend ended up trying devils hot tub in his polaris turbo s and it didnt go so well. This is one of the most intense crashes ive seen and was scary for a second. Everyone was ok.
Unless you are James Brown (Eddie Murphy skit on SNL). Spectators on any track or trail are a bad idea. I race dirt bikes off-road and aim for them in the crappy sections.....you know they aren’t standing in mud lol.
Getting ready to type the same thing. First thing I tell anyone getting in my SXS is to never let go of the grab bar if we turn over. Never, ever, ever, but I know, its instinct. He was so close to saving it
Yeah when I saw it from the first angle I figured since he was OK he must have pulled his arm back in as soon as he rolled, but then I saw it from the other angle and it looks more like he just got lucky that the points of contact were elsewhere. I agree with the people saying he probably could have made it out all the way if it weren't for the spectators but that arm out the window tells me he's the kind of guy who freezes up in those situations.
Looks to me like that dude sacrificed himself for the people on the ledge. I betchu he was gonna jerk left, but refrained so he didn't mow those people/kids down. Hero
damn skippy had he not have to let off the gas at the end he might have been able to keep moving...........i was thinking he should have punched it right at the end maybe......toilet bowled it.....you ever watch the dirt bikes inside a huge sphere riding in circles and upside down.
That's not being a hero. Doing dangerous things for fun, while not hitting other people doing dangerous things for fun isn't heroism. It's just fast thinking
I must be getting old - because now when I jump in my rig, I just want to have fun but my idea of fun is not destroying a $30K rig that I worked my ass off to buy. You'all must have a lot of $.
Yeah I’m 23. I’ve wanted one of these machines since I was a teenage and finally got one. And instead of being crazy with it, I’ve been babying my machine and stay on good trails. People are insane
Despite the final crash James demonstrated some very quick thinking as he avoided driving into his friends atop. Everyone figured they were well out of the expected trajectory. What a surprise, and it happens. Technically, he did make it! 👍
@@0xsergy no the second he felt he was gking back in he needed to take both hands off and grab his 4 point. Thats what is taught in rally cross. If yiu have the time to think take your hands and cross your arms over your chest.
People always dog on the factory cages (YXZ justly deserved). That Turbo S cage just took a 10ft offset drop on its top on completely unforgiving rock and the driver walked away. I'd say it did it's job 👍🍺🍻 Very glad he walked away.
I totally agree it did it job and will in most cases. But no doubt about it an aftermarket cage would have put him in much better shape. The thing folded and hit his head. An aftermarket one might not look great after that kind of hit, but would have looked alot better.
From the start, this driver shows very little confidence or control. No helmet with arm resting on the door is a never an option! Glad he’s ok and hope others learn what not to do. That was 100% over before it started!
You all probably dont care but does someone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can give me
NEVER go to Moab without a helmet. I go to mountain bike, and I cringe when I see people there riding without helmets. Mine has saved my life more than once. Even the pros wear helmets, and we aren't as good as them!
I did this exact obstacle about five years ago in a Rubicon. It definitely gets your attention. You have to straddle on the way out which you can't really see in the video. I know nothing about driving the type of rig in the video but I feel as if it might have just been too light. That's a shame I'm glad everyone ended up being ok.
That’s the Devil’s Hot Tub actually, Mickey’s is down the trail a short bit, it’s smaller and narrower, but still a good challenge. Gnarly ass crash, glad he’s ok. It was slimy from the heat last week for sure, tough time to climb it.
Why does the polaris have such a difficult time tackling this? Is it like a center of gravity thing? Is too much lift a bad thing? I just watched a video of a Rhino taking it without breaking a sweat--that thing looked like a golf cart
Great learning video for sure... spectators should learn too stay out of the way because he might have had a chance of all the people at the top weren't standing right in his way.
I think too many people don’t understand what a helmet does. Your brain smashing against your skull as it hit something hard is what causes most brain injuries, Our brains “float” in our skulls so are prone to injury when it impacts the skull when the skull rapidly decelerates. A helmet mostly does its job with the padding and foam helping the skull decelerate more gently and over a longer distance so the brain doesn’t smash into it and cause permanent injury. ANY activity where your head can hit something hard and with velocity requires a helmet. At the least, your head can hit the rollbar in a RZR, at the worst, it can hit the ground or a rock or any number of things that can kill or injure you. Having fun shouldn’t include risking pointless death or permanent brain injury.
Another one bites the dust... I am glad he was not seriously injured. I had a professional tour guide who took me through Hot Tub. I couldn't even see where the heck we were going as we climbed up. It takes a brave/skillful driver to drive through Hot Tub in my book. By the way, when we went through Hot Tub, it had rained the day before. The mixture of oil and water at the bottom of the pit made it challenging to climb up but Dave Hillman with his experience and skills made it look easy.
@@bigred1032 it ain't worth it brother. you might make it out first try. or you might be in there for hours putting wear on the tires, engine, and every other part of your machine while everyone else laughs. offroading is pointless but to offroad into a known hard spot in a SWB machine that has a tendency to try to roll backwards is silly.
If he didn't fall back into the bowl, he was going to go flipping backwards into the bowl, he was just lucky his back tire caught the lip to end up on the rim. Once committed and gas matted, he was just a passenger & along for the ride. Spectators had nothing to do with it.
Just a reminder to keep both hands on the wheel. It keeps your arms in the roll cage and as tough as you are you can't strong arm a a UTV over rocks anyway.
Glad he is ok! Devils hot tub is no joke. Personally Id never hit it in a 2 door. Gotta watch that go pedal on it, Ive seen a Grand Cherokee flip over backwards from the top onto its roof at the bottom there. Hit so hard on its roof at the bottom it broke the engine from the mounts.
Before anyone jumps on this comment, this isn't criticism. Almost looks like had people not been standing there, and he stayed in it he would have made it out. Seems like him stopping to avoid hitting anyone caused the fall back in. That said, no reason anyone could have known it could play out like that and he'd be heading back that way. Crazy video, glad he is ok
It was super hot and the rubber build up was slimy all last week, there just wasn't much grip to be had at all. He was a little too heavy on the throttle, but the LF axle breaking at the top was the real killer.
At first I thought more inexperienced than worst ever, however that double roll with a twist was a solid 8.5. Try it with 4 feet of water, thats when the epic happens
It mystifies me why people even try these types of stunts. I proves nothing, results in ruined equipment and injuries and just costs money. And where are the harnesses, helmet, gloves, etc. Pure stupidity.
that was different for sure but i dont really think he was quite with it he was looking totaly left when he was going right and just didnt correct it panicked glad it turned out well for him
I think don’t he was trying to save anyone on the rim. It’s clear he had no control at that point his mind was in survival mode and hitting gas for all he was worth hoping for a miracle ending. Glad no one was hurt.
I agree... he was too off-camber to save it, even if the people hadn't been there, he was out of control. Drove me nuts the way he had his arm hanging out half the time and was wearing no helmet. Call this what it was -- nearly a Darwin moment.
Admitting he was wrong is a good start. Total resect. Now inertia is everything, he should have backed up higher and kept doing that back and forth until he could have gotten out.
I am glad he is ok but sure looks like serious driver error to me. I have done it on my Rover and he might have backed up and get some momentum and of course control his wheels. It appears to me that one arm was outside the window.
