Williams you are a brave man, with 2 life boats at your disposal you didn't use them because you never wanted to leave anyone behind. A true hero and a true colleague we would all want to work with is who you are.
They hire quality control, quality assurance, safety people but unfortunate in most cases… They are the ones that pay those people and run the operation. You CANNOT cook your own soup and taste it and say it’s good or bad…! Quality control, quality assurance, and safety. People have to be independent and have power, just like a medical doctor in the military.
Couldnt even imagine myself in that situation. Middle of the night, middle of the ocean, engulfed in flames, explosions all around, and you have to jump 10 stories into the darkness below.. Then you get to relive it over and over in your head. No amount of monetary compensation can make up for that.
CEOs, lobbyists, and the higher up will tell you all their work is perfectly safe, for humans and the environment. The actual people who work on the rigs can show you missing fingers, legs, and eyes, and then tell you about the friends they've lost on the job due to the negligence of the higher ups. The lies we have been told over the decades are catching up to us all. If you believe the petro industry is safe, I've got a nice beach side property in Louisiana to sell you, cheap.
have buddies who have all lost fingers and gotten injured working in the Permian Basin this year alone. Fired and left with no way to pay the bills for the medical care they received
Well done to the mississipi engineers etc who helped to mop up that oil bubbling up out of the seabed and polluting everything. Too the Taylor company that was a greedy scumbag move on trying not to take responsibility for what you've done.Aye hope those 3 guys make millions from the oil they are collecting and a big THANKYOU for helping to save the environment for everyone, wildlife, fishermen etc everyone that relies on that waterway for their livelihood.
@@danny208YT Hey, I’m very proud of how little of my money has gone to the oil companies. Now, my money is not funding the fascists in the Republican Party. Always follow the money.
So they just paid their fines, and dissolved the company, and went about their merry way? So how much damage did they do in the long run??? All these environmental problems don't just go away because everyone runs away and says fk it. All of their assets and bank accounts should be frozen to ensure reparations for future damages also. Behind every great act of humanity there is usually some sinister deed.
And there's no doubt, nor wonder why our Native American Indians do NOT want the oil lines running through what land US America has given them, known as Reservations.
According to who? You realize they get royalties for those transportation pipes. You're comparing apples and oranges. Those are low pressure, above ground or buried under very little soil, so easily accessible.
@Allfaxnocaps you've misunderstood his comment. Hes saying that the fact that theirs multiple spills, its a problem with the oil industry. He's not referring to a problem with the actual title, lol.
Wrong !!! The oil industry’s safety record is 10X better than the airline industry (similar accident disaster industry). Relative to the billions of barrels of petroleum produced over the decades, both the number spills AND the quantities of spilled oil would likely be less than 1.0% worldwide.
@@ProducerGio - Oh really ??? Then why is oil the world's largest industry by a long shot. Without oil modern civilization would collapse (just ask Elon Musk). You could not survive for one week without petroleum.
We are still finding that small crustations crabs, muscles are contaminated with oil. I was there when I saw the fires and black smoke shooting in the air and watched as the grouper troopers came back their boats were full of oil and them too.
Holy cow!😢 I don’t feel that sorry for BP, I feel sorry for the wildlife that lives/lived in these waters. 😟 This reminds me of Chernobyl on a much smaller scale. 🤯💔 BTW, where was this “Engineer “before this happened?!!😤
LOL the cold blood for her to say that companies are very responsible when leaks happens. Maybe there are companies out there but its not how it goes worldwide.
Ur right … I never understand this craziness. All they do is raise gas prices and we pay the fine and they are like well:: they paying it so let’s just keep it that high till we make double or triple back for them coming at us 😢. It’s a monopoly and should be illegal
When it comes about death or survival, that's when a brave man inside comes out. This men went through that experience already letting that brave man inside him come out.
oh no nobody important was injured only that which is replaceable. but the money loss thats the saddest thing ever. its all ok just keep on driving to your destination.
I still remember Obama’s inaction, while the environmental disaster grew day by day, because of his vindictiveness towards B.P., i.e., the U.K., because his father, who’d abandoned him, was a ne’er do well blaming his failed life in Kenya on colonialism, as written about in Barrack’s book, "Dreams of my Father."

acids and entire OIL rig, was underreported by, Haliburton , which was duely sued ; Haliburton lost, because UNTRAINED workers on the RIG , caused its explosion. M.A.Bodine
Listen. What is INTERESTING, is what was the aftermath. You never say anything about that. Obama, you should tell what the concequenses are. Mr. Nightshift.
13:13 Crazy thing is I bet that both BP and Trans Ocean put a hit on him. And he’s a real hero for taking on big oil also. And the movie is just as good he is played by Mark Wahlberg. Deep Water Horizon:::
34:04 😂 u can tell he’s got the drinkers twitch in his face. 😂😂he’s the driest he’s ever been in his entire life - during this interview 😂😅 and he’s got some airplane bottles in his car. 😂😂 I bet u can see the checks who paid for his DUI say Exon petty cash 💰 😢
That cost of using petroleum is way too high to the environment the world needs to start driving electric cars… I have been driving electric cars for 13 years now and I would never ever go back to an internal combustion engine…. do yourself a favor and go and check out an electric car now easily you can get 300 mile range.
All of these videos are so old are nearly irrelevant. There's no post editing to update anyone. And anything that they talk about is like 20 years out of date at the youngest. These old people don't know how to RU-vid.
The sad thing is our government had held patents under lock and key that would greatly reduce the need for oil but it’s the greed that is keeping it locked up.
Sounds like if the company running Deepwater had only cared more about doing things safely rather than fast everything would have been fine, at least in the first of the vid when they were drilling 13,000 feet.
I was out there within an hour after she blew, thankfully the Daymond Bankston, their vessel, was there when it happened and was able to pick up all the survivors. I spent 45 years on vessels in the oil fields, and this kind of stuff was a common occurrence, to take a chance and bypass safety. And that professor is absolutely correct when he said the one whose fault is BP, the paying customer, is always at fault! They are the ones who twist the arm of the contractors. And in the Taylor spill, 3 gallons a day, the oil companies ALWAYS give the Coast Guard a lesser amount than what was actually spilled. Chevron was the biggest fibber of the amount of a spill. But I always told them the truth. I got into a bunch of trouble for calling the Coast Guard on a large spill Exxon had and was using dispersant. They never called it in, trying to hide it, you can't hide a spill like that, just get it away from your platforms and hopefully when a helicopter reports the spill they can't figure out who had the spill. To this day I refuse to use Chevron products from being bullied constantly to go against regulations and safety. Durrel Pelligran with Chevron terminated me because I refused to haul chemicals my vessel was not allowed to haul, I told him I needed to get the boat certified to haul certain things and other things I could not haul due to regulations. He didn't like that, so he had me terminated.
Yep every Sunday mid day, safety meeting, lifeboat training,, then steak for lunch. It was the most scariest job i ever had. I was on Transocean drill ship. Same companies. I lasted 8 months.
Anyone notice the big scorched huge burn hole on the helipad ?? Which wasn't anywhere near the fires !!?? How was that possible, it looked like it was burned through by a laser !! Directed Energy lasers at that !!
I was sailing on a west coast tanker for chevron at that time. Gregory Cousins, 3rd Mate on watch when the crash happened had 1 thing to do on his watch TO CHANGE COURSE and that was not done. The Captain told him he had to make the turn shortly and asked if he understood. The Captain must transmit a departure message when the ship leaves port so that is where the Captain went when he left the 3rd mate. The look out yelled into the bridge that they had a red buoy on their starboard bow while leaving port. This should have an unbelievable event because it means your going on the wrong side of the bouy. She reported it again and this time the 3rd mate told the helmsman put your rudder over to starboard so he did but the helm was on autopilot so its did very little. By the time they realized the ship was about to hit the reef, the order was given hard right rudder. The 3rd mate picked up the phone to tell the captain something was wrong. The captain answered the phone and a loud crash was heard throughout the ship.
You could see the senior citizen lady at sixty minutes and the Abassasador Nicholas Burns were so happy at the amount of Tech companies including Tesla have moved to China bacause buisness is booming in China.
Wow… I know nothing about engineering but to hear how many things were wrong with the bop and they still pushed the crew to go faster and seal the well up without the mud in the well is insane
