Charlie slowly going from saying "Long John Silver's" to "LJS" after making fun of someone for even attempting to create an abbreviation for it is fucking fantastic
In like 2008 my parents stopped at an LJS in desperation for a toilet. there was a bell near the exit that said "ring me if you enjoyed your meal". It was coated in a comical amount of cobwebs
My local Long John Silvers closed and the very recognizable building was repainted grey and black and turned into a "Cremation Society" where old people come to meet and discuss how they wanna be scorched to dust. Pretty poetic if you ask me.
I used to eat at LJS regularly as a kid. Maybe like 5 years ago, I decided to try it again after decades of not. I legitimately was sick the rest of the day. If I recall, Joey's World Tour did a video eating the whole Big Catch Meal. He loved it, so you know it's bad.
My parents used to take me to McDonalds as a kid, i legit never liked it, the toilets were gross just stank, Fortunatly i was sick at one so my parents stopped taking me. I think most fast food places are god awful tbh. The only good thing they serve is fries which are very dry only being redeemed by the salt content.
I ate at Long John Silver's once, the fried shrimp turned my entire digestive system inside out and gave me severe testicular cancer. So anyways it wasn't that bad.
Long John Silver is the real life equivalent of the Chum Bucket. They should actually market themselves as some sort of sick challenge to eat their food and not vomit afterwards.
LJS is a seafood fast food establishment that started in lexington Kentucky, a state which is landlocked by at least 2 orders of magnitude in every direction. That should tell you everything you need to know
Landlocked by at least two orders of magnitude? So there's at least 100 other states in each direction? (You were making a good--or at least funny--point spoiled with weird misuse of "orders of magnitude"; I swear, that's the new "exponential" or "decimated".)
The more times Charlie rejects the idea of a Long John Silver’s tier list, the more he guarantees it will happen. He’s been on the internet long enough to know how this works.
The original fish platter with 3 pieces of battered fish, 2 hush puppies, fries, and slaw is actually really good. I rarely eat fast food but I usually make an exception and eat there once or twice a month because it's different and not just some regular old burger. Their chicken and other items suck though for sure, always get the battered cod.
as someone who works as LJS 2 (Captain Ds) I can confirm that before we got a grill for the baked meals, my store used to MICROWAVE RAW FISH!! and serve it to customers. don’t even care if I get fired at this point, it’s genuine hell at Captin ds.
at least at LJS the fried items are dipped in batter and fried onsite in 33g of genuine trans fats and aren't just soggy bug meat rolled in bread crumbs
Speaking of shady restaurants. There was a hole in the wall restaurant downtown Toronto that I used to go to when I had only a few bucks to spare for dinner. Everything was so cheap. You could spend $3 on a meal and be good and full. They made everything from cheap grocery name brand stuff like Wonderbread etc. The only way a place like that could stay above water is if it was owned by the mob. Edit: This was around 2015. I'm not sure if it is still open
@MB-ev9ix it was literally discount brands you see at your local grocery store. It was passable. But for a broke guy in his early 20s, like I was, I really couldn't complain for the price.
There is, or was, a few places like that around Toronto. My favourite one was a little breakfast nook that had ego waffles and dixie cups of gutrot vodka for $5. Shadyest place ive ever been, but damn if it wasnt the perfect hangover cure.
one of my all time favorite places to eat during college was a tiny market stall where the guy had a single massive grill that he cooked everything on. All he made was sandwiches and there wasnt a single healthy item on the menu, but a decently stacked Bacon and fried egg sandwich cost 1.50 and was better than one id make myself at home
My old boss was a professionally trained chef, he said he had only worked one fast food job in his life and it was long john silvers. He was hired on as a manager and quit his first day because the employees were shooting each other with bleach spray like water guns
Worked for Taco Bell, Burger King, McDonald's, Sonic, Wendy's, and Carls Jr. (in order over about 12 years) and every single place had an unprofessional group of employees. It's not solely a long John Silvers issue. At McDonald's one of my co-workers literally dropped a McDouble on the ground and when he was about to throw it away our boss told him not to waste product and just use a napkin to wipe it off. At Sonic the cooks never wore gloves, at Carls Jr our boss (a 40 year-old who was around 450 pounds) would take home a dozen burgers every shift and let us all eat for free if we didn't tell anyone. At Taco Bell one of my coworkers blew his nose into a burrito prior to folding it up because he knew the customer and didn't like him.
Sounds like a garbage manager if he couldnt get a few 16 year olds to take direction. You're talking up a friend who is clearly not a "proffesionally trained chef".
@@Travybear1989 I would be waiting in the parking lot for them to get off work if they blew their nose in my food.. That's foul. Actually made me dry heave reading that. 😆
When I was in high school, I once skipped class to do something off campus. As the day went on, I got hungry and saw a Long John Silver's restaurant nearby. I decided to go in and order a combo box of popcorn shrimp and hushpuppies. Unfortunately, the food was soggy and unappetizing. I regretted my decision and felt like I was being punished for skipping class. This experience taught me to think twice before skipping class again.
@@6ix9ineshairline67 That should be their new marketing tactic lol. A fast-food chain that you go to just to punish yourself. Skipping class? Soggy food so bad you want to go. Procrastinating? Well if you decide to procrastinate with Long John Silver's, you'll get food poisoning as a result! That'll be a lesson. LJS could be an opposite Starbucks, where you sit there to force yourself to get your work done, and then get the fuck out of there without ordering anything. But, it might tempt you to, and some people will, which means profit!
The ones near me in Georgia have been "closed for remodel" for years. No one has ever been there to do any remodeling. I do remember liking it as a kid in the 90s, but kids' taste buds don't really count.
I work in the seafood department at a grocery store, and I get the feeling it would be a nightmare running a huge chain seafood restaurant. A lot of fish are very inconsistent in their availability.
The majority of fast food breaded fish is Pollock where it's cheapest. The fish in any fish n' chips or fishsticks you've eaten in your life was likely Pollock.
It's because wild fish has been heavily over fished. They transitioned to farmed fish and tried to say its better for various reasons. I could go on, but all of the food bought in most places is extremely under par due to humanity over eating and not having their own or at least using locally sourced foods. A lot of 1st world countries are over eating, and because of that, the quality of food has dropped dramatically. We shouldn't be able to get what we want, when we want. There are seasons for a reason. Consumerist society at its peak and everything suffers because of it. But who am I to say, I'm just a lonely warrior in my garden doing my bit for my loved ones. Have a blessed week, guys! 🙏🙌💜
@@WarriorInAGarden. How do you locally source food for 3 million people on an island? Or a few million in the desert? You can't. The modern world requires mass farming and mass fishing to sustain the population we have. So unless you want a third at best or half the world population to fucking starve, who knows you might loads of people do, you can't just "locally source" food.
There’s a really old restaurant that has a sign saying “if you don’t like the food, head down to long John silvers” the signs so old it outlasted the long Joan silvers down the road and I still eat there today
The LJS here after opening...it was FREAKING INSANE, I'm talking about for almost two months having lines taking BLOCKS of the right lane, only recently in the last month has it ended Never ate there personally but have been curious what the freaking deal was because I didn't want to risk a straight head on collision with the right lane being so long I was stuck for over 30 minutes for a trip to HEB that would take 5 I was so freaking shellshocked that I brought it up at Twin Liquors and he literally said the most realistic thing, I quote, *"There's no way theres that much demand for a fast food seafood restraunt, it has to be a front for something"* lol Charlie may be drinking himself to want to try it possibly but even after seeing everyone goin I STILL haven't Though what's weird...this only happened AFTER it opened up again after burning down...HAS EVERY LJS BURNED DOWN ATLEAST ONCE?!
Random question, 4 months after you posted your comment, but do you happen to be in Kyle, TX? The mention of twin liquors by the HEB got my spidey senses tingling lol
I actually have picked up from LJS a few times over the past 3 years for work, most recently this past December. An older lady was managing the inside, and it was kind of sad because she actually put a lot of effort into making decorations for the interior only for presumably nobody to ever really sit and eat in there.
I've had some 2/10 experiences and 9/10 experiences at Long John Silver's. Seems like it really depends on location, especially considering poorly-prepared seafood can be a lot worse than poorly-prepared everything else.
@@flameepidemic4839used to go to a LJS AnW in new mexico. root beer float with some fish and chicken honestly went hard as fuck. moved states and now the 1 solo LJS in the area recently shut down (went there once, not the same at all)
@@LycanKai14I used to work at long John silvers, and if you seen how the food was prepared, then you wouldn't eat there. they do not care about the quality of their food.
given how many of them have burnt down and the fact that opening a long john silvers franchise is literally the worst possible investment you could make, I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that most of the fires are insurance fraud.
I used to work at Long John Silvers, but it was a combined restaurant with A&W (btw you should try if you haven't). I will say I never ate the fish but I heard the quality went down fast after it sat. If you get it fresh, it's not bad. It's just rarely fresh because no one goes there. It is also a place by place varies. It's all the same food, but the people that make it make a difference. The battered food is actually hand battered, so it could be light/heavy battered. same with the hush puppies, some are small and others large. Overall tho it's not worth the price anymore. my family used to do family meals that were a lot of food and not a bad price.
"a combined restaurant with A&W " You just unlocked a hidden memory of seeing my local A&W be conjoined by a Domino's, then a KFC, then a Dairy Queen, and then a Domino's again until it evolved into a full A&W. I never once stepped foot in that place lol.
My grandpa, who passed from nothing long John silvers related, used to love the restaurant and he said very specific food is the best but others will give you food poisoning. He stopped eating it when the one near our house closed but I'm sure he's eating LJS in heaven.
Long John Silver is literally famous for pretending to be a ship cook and ends up tricking and betraying the crew so they can get treasure, so this all tracks
I’m so glad you’re talking about this. I once went to an LJS years ago with my family. My dad was gaslighted by the ads on tv. The fish was horribly dry and the fries were no better. Needless to say, that was our first and last time there.
I always wonder if the employees ever leave the restaurant. Never have I ever come across a Long John Silver's worker out in the wild, I believe they are trapped in the building some how.
Lmao my last job was at Long Johns and it really depends on the store. A few are terrible, most are bad and theres a handful of good ones. Its just like british food, if made right its fine if made wrong its disgusting😅
@@hudsonkammer I worked at the best rated one in the country in PA so my experience isn't normal. We were busy as hell most days, but we also got to see what the sales were like in the other stores and most are barely scraping by. The reason it hasn't failed is because it keeps getting bought out and resold. They're owned by whoever owns taco bell now iirc.
I legit grew up 5 min away from a LJS, never had any intention to walk inside it. It closed down as I’m looking at the yelp reviews describing what a horrible mess it was. A bullet most definitely dodged
The flutuating cost of seafood in general makes LJS' business model of low cost seafood difficult to maintain. As soon as they were acquired by a fast food conglomerate where they were neglected, to the point where quality and cleanliness were allowed to decline, was the final nail in the coffin.
@@HotDiggityDoggi have no idea how the one in our town is still open. Haven't seen anyone there in the past decade. We used to go when I was a kid every once in a while but yeah it fell off hard.
like no shit, they used to be fire in the 2000s but they stopped uphoding their standard, no matter which one ive went too these days the oil is bad, food overcooked, and fish smelled rotten, to see the mighty have fallen
I remember when I was maybe 5 My dad got sick from that place. And we’ve never gone back, I also remember when he got pneumonia I don’t know if it was from LJS but either way, he got sick by that weird place.
i knew two people in my life that actually enjoy LJS. The first one was a coworker in his mid 60s that thought black pepper was too spicy. The second one was a middle aged man at my local Hyundai dealership who was complaining about the LJS in town being replaced by a popeyes.
Had a friend that was a cook at the Long John's and the only reason I ever ate there was because he would get us food for free and if we took the receipt survey we got a free slice of pie lmfao. Being a broke kid and getting free food was dope but it probably shaved a few years off of our lives.
My first job was at a long john silvers. The drive thru got shockingly busy, especially since they never reopened their dining room after covid. It has since been torn down and a Wendys was built on the remains.
I'm not surprised many of them burned down. Last time I went to an LJS, everything was covered in a layer of old, sticky grease. The counters, the soda machine even the takeout containers. I never went back.
I don't like fish. So it was never an option for me, but as a kid, I remember my mom taking me. And it was by far one of the worst experiences of my life.
I will never trust people who like fish because they will say "Oh, but salmon is so good if you just cook it right and then have a good sauce and then give it really good sides..." So what you just told me is it's not good and the appeal is actually the sauce and sides.
My wife used to work at a LJS and saved them from a fire. They always have those dry wooden pillars out front and customers would drop their smokes through the holes. Naturally my wife had cups on water on standby because the pillars kept catching fire. She left and a few months later the building turned into a "Crispy Fish and Chicken" which is still LJS in every way but name.
I remember stopping by an LJS in a smaller town about a decade ago now & it seemed like a dead brand even back then. The location seemed run down and the walls, lights, counter, etc were either covered in dried batter specks or a greasy film. It took us about 25 minutes to get our order despite only one other person in line before us and aside from the hush puppies, everything we had was absolutely soaked in grease and disgusting. I can't credit them too much for the hush puppies being okay bc its literally fried dough and therefore should be impossible to mess up. I have no clue how a franchise that seemed on life support a decade ago still exists.
I worked at Long John Silvers for about 6 months and only quit about a few weeks ago. That place was a nightmare. Barely anybody actually cleaned the equipment properly, we commonly had to cook with bad oil, somebody caused a fire in the fryers a few weeks ago, and corporate pushed a sexual harassment case under the rug and proceeded to fire my boss who reported it to them.
The most shocking thing about LJS is that it's lasted this long. The last time I went to the one in my town was in 1993, and even back then you could tell that it was worse than the other fast food places. It finally shut down in 2017, but there's still one in the next town over. It's unbelievable.
I think they're part of that Yum Brands empire that also owns Taco Bell, KFC, A&W, etc. Apparently, KFC makes about 200 billion dollars per minute in Asia, so they've got money to waste on things like LJS. I suspect they kinda forgot it exists, or no one can be bothered to do the paperwork and it's easier to keep it running. Lol
Quick story: I once pulled a giant, what I thought was fried, bubble off of the end of a fish filet from LJS. It was like a round chunk of crunchiness, or so I thought. If you were ever a fan of LJS as my family and I were when I was a kid, then you'd know the little fried pieces in the basket and the fried ends of the filets were "the best part". Well on my last, and final, trip to Long John Silver's, I pulled that big fried bubble of heart attack off the end of the fish preparing to eat it and just before I bit into it, liquid fucking batter starts pouring out of it! Yes, batter! They didn't even cook it to time or temp so, oddly enough, I'm actually thankful this happened rather than biting into the fish and losing the ability to walk forever. Atleast this stopped me in my tracks while I metaphorically still had legs and feet to make them. I was repulsed, mortified, and extremely disappointed as my family and I were among the apparent few that enjoyed LJS. This was at the drive-thru and the manager was working the window for some reason. He was making small talk with me while rushing the staff yelling "Where's my fish?!". I always assumed the cook got anxious out of fear of upsetting the boss so he pulled the fish too early, hence the disgusting experience. I never went back and told the manager what happened as I was roadtripping and decided not to hassle with it but I'm pretty sure I could have caused quite the stir, which I believe was warranted. Looking back I should have atleast called to let the manager know he needs to slow the fuck down before he kills someone. Crazy! Lessons Learned: Order your food well-done and NEVER eat at LJS again! True story. Thanks!
It probably wasn't the managers decision, and managers only work window when there's literally no one else available. It's them having to take on extra work. Granted, I haven't worked at LJS specifically. But every fast food position I have worked over the years, corporate times out how long it takes us to get orders out. Doesn't matter if you're bare bones staff, if you've gotten some giant orders, if a truck shipment didn't come in, if staff is just having an off day or a super busy day, or a combination of those things. Corporate only looks at the times. And if you're a manager and you run a shift that's late on too many orders, corporate will notice. And they'll be mad. I'm sure the manager was panicking throughout this interaction because they didn't want to get in trouble with their boss. And that results in poor quality. It's corporates fault at the end of the day, because those guys don't care if you get an undercooked meal. They don't have to serve it to you, they don't care if you leave a bad review, they just want the numbers to look good. And that goes for every franchise, not just LJS. Anything from Arby's, to Culvers, to Panera, to Dunkin, to Chipotle. It's all the same really. Some franchises, like LJS, are underfunded and neglected. But, as much as I still eat fast food, I know I'm taking a risk with the quality every time I place an order. Even if I've been to a specific location many times.
I didn't even know they still existed, we used to have one here in my town when I was a kid, but it was soon closed down and a Mexican restaurant opened in its place
I had an ex who was from a semi-rural area and his first job was at a Long John Silver’s. He said it was a really chill, fun job because almost no one ever came in and he just goofed off all day with his coworkers. The fact that no one ever came in is saying something because this was an area where an Olive Garden opening up in town was a MASSIVE deal. I’ve never eaten there; he said the food was pretty bad in hindsight but acceptable to him at the time.
My family and I would eat at LJS when roadtripping and we always enjoyed it and had good experiences. Y’all are making me feel like we dodged several bullets lol
They are HEAVILY exaggerating. I've ate at my local one for over 25 years and never got sick from their food and I eat there two or three times a month. I've been sick from buffets on multiple occasions and gas station food but never LJS.
I remember when I was 10, my family was staying at a hotel, due to a power outage in our area from high winds, and we decided to eat at LJS across the street. I remember getting some fish and hush puppies there, and about 10 minutes after we finished our meal, I had a sharp pain in my stomach. I ran into the restroom in our suite and was just vomiting for a good minute. This was the first time I've ever experienced food poisoning in my life, and I vividly remember feeling like shit for a couple days after. I don't know how they are still in business after reading some of the stories here.
@@user-bt7sh2hi2p Did you even read what disease is indicated to happen that fast on the CDC website? If you did, the original commenter wouldn't be saying they had diarrhea, they would be telling us of the lawsuit they filed against LJS for giving them Staph and nearly killing them.
There’s this abandoned Long John Silvers in Naples, FL that they refuse to demolish. It just stands there for eternity... for as decrepit as it is, it only looks slightly worse than an operating location...
In my neighborhood, there was a long John silvers that had a sewage line break and there was literal raw sewage in the kitchen and no one even cleaned it, I think the whole place burnt down a week later. That’s insurance fraud to the HIGHEST order
The only time I've ever been to Long John Silvers my mom took a bite of her food, tried to explain to an employee that her fish was slimy, he argued with her, and she got turbo food poisoning. She still has all her limbs though so could've been worse.
I once ate a slice a pizza from the trash at the break room at work (it was still in thr box) so I'm definitely not picky with food but long John silvers is so salty and dry, nooooo thank you
My mom went there with her friend for her birthday and they both got severe food poisoning and it took over a month and half a dozen calls for them to get a full refund. It really is as dangerous as he says, I feel so bad for my mom’s friend. Such a depressing place to have a birthday dinner.
a couple years back I ate a turkey club at a gas station and managed to lose 30lbs during that weekend due to the intestinal exorcism I suffered. In hindsight I should have gone to the hospital food poisoning can kill you.
@@leonardilifter You ever hear of water weight? That's around what I lost cause I spent a whole weekend sitting on a toilet projectile shitting and vomiting into a bucket, sometimes simultaneously. As a recent employee of LJS, it's mainly senior citizens, most busy is on SSI check days, and employees are paid shit wages. I do occasionally enjoy it when I'm in search of something salty and greasy. My go to order is an order of clams and a piece of fish. But, when I did work there, my favorite was double battering the fish, extra crunchy. It is unhealthy, but there are days it just slaps.
@@mitsuakiyama8934 yeah, it's rare that I get it, but sometimes it's just a craving, if you haven't tried the clams, I suggest them, I usually get a double order when I've had a few drinks and need to throw something snackable into my face.
I ate at Long John Silvers many times as a kid. The location in our town was run by some really great people, which is probably why the quality was better than expectation. Never got sick once. BUT I think the mere concept of fast food seafood is a frightening one and I have never eaten at LJS since I moved away from that town
run-down Long John Silver's aren't only in Florida, there's a LJS near me the parking lot is cracking and falling apart, the parking lot is ALWAYS empty except for like 4 cars, the building looks like it hasn't even been opened in 30 years and it always looks like a drug sealing site lol
Practice. Man's been streaming for years, making videos for longer, and I'm sure he tries to be funny around his friends, too. It may sound weird, but improv IS something you can practice and create a skill in.
So no joke, I worked at a doctor’s office for a few years, and we would legitimately tell patients who had constipation to try eating there. It worked quite often, probably too well. So yeah, it’s certainly quality food lol. That said, there hush puppies aren’t too bad.
I’m sorry but paying a doctor to prescribe you fast food from a huge chain restaurant instead of actual laxatives is the most American thing I have heard of this year. I mean Jesus Christ lol.
I love LJS! I don't eat breaded things anymore, but used to eat it often. I loved soaking everything in the malt vinegar. I loved eating extra hush puppies and extra crispies also soaked in malt vinegar. It's not something I could eat regularly, but I would definitely eat it at least once a month when I ate fast food. I usually got the fish & chicken combo with the all the sides. I loved ringing the bell too! But where I live, they are always really nice.

This is gonna go on my bucket list if I ever go to America. America often gets the short end of the stick when if comes to fast food chains - for example, Ive never been to a truly bad Burger King - but to have a chain that pretty much only exists in America that even Americans refuse to eat at must be truly special
So my family actually used to eat there often, specifically for the hush puppies. Here’s why the food is bad. It’s considered too greasy for even Americans. You have to actually pat the shit down with a paper towel before you can eat it.
charlie seems to be a bit of prissy eater. he over exaggerates how bad a lot of stuff is. either way, bk isn’t great, but it’s at least edible. if you really want garbage fast food, you need to go to a Church’s Chicken. even the white meat looks dark somehow, it’s awful. worst fried chicken Ive even had, but i’m pretty sure you can still get a full meal for about 5 bucks, which considering today’s inflation is dirt cheap. 15 years ago, you could get a full meal from there for $2.50
As someone who lives in the US; I have a saying with my friends. McDonald’s is where you eat to save money, Burger King is where you eat if you’re homeless.
Fun fact: you can buy a box of crunchies. (The flaky batter that sticks to the fish and comes in the bottom of box) if you ask they will put some in the box and give it to you.
I remember when I was really young, Long John Silvers was such a good place to eat at. Always would get the free pirate hat, it was basically the burger king of chicken. Really sad to see how far its fallen. They've closed every single one in my city.
Im pretty sure an ex of mine single-handedly kept one location in business. Fool would go at least once a week and the food always smelled rancid. Ive had exactly one bite of their food in my life and it legitimately just tasted like someone deep fried a salt lick. Absolutely heinous.
My grandma used to like it when I was a little kid, like 20-something years ago. sometime in the proceeding 20 years it shut down, the rumors I heard was due to constantly failing health inspections
I used to love Long Johns back when I was a kid. Now I'm talking about the late 80's to 90's. I lived in a country town in the middle of nowhere and this was the only seafood place we had. Ate there quite often during those days.
LJS used to be one of my favorite restaurants as a kid. There was a freshly remodeled one near where I lived combined with an A&W which made amazing chicken planks and cheese curds. That said, the last time I visited the food quality had gone down hill, the floors were missing tiles, and everything felt dilapidated, but I still have fond memories at least. I went to another shadier LJS in a different town as a kid and caught a horrible norovirus that nearly killed me and gave me the rare chance to lose 15 lbs in a few hours and see infinity from dehydration, so that was fun too I guess.
Surprisingly, the LJS in my city is actually pretty good. We've been screwed over by every fast food place and restaurant in town but they're actually the only ones that give us good food every time. The building is old as hell but the food and people are always good there. And I hate fast food these days. I might eat it once every few months. But LJS is easily the best fast food around here.
C'mon is that whole bot-comment stuff worth anything at all? I just don't understand, really. Is the hope just to get that one out of millions stupid enough to go full into the promise of more stupidity? Yeah or probably preying on the mentally handicapped... Else I can't figure it out.
It's hard to say which is more likely. Burned down due to insurance fraud or burned down because the floor is covered in those greasy fried batter crumbs.
My dad was a manager for awhile at an LJS. It was literally the worse job he ever had because of how the manager prior to him let anything happened. He turned it around for a few months only for him to be fired for something he didnt even have a connection to.. Only for that same one to shut down not even a month later due lmfao
I actually have liked LJS growing up, I would feed my kids it regularly when they had the $20 family box. That being said, you learn there are some foods you NEVER order (green beans most likely have been sitting for a week).
I've only ever been to a Long John Silvers once. Didn't even eat there. Had a friend who's mother LOVED the place, but she took the rest of us through the McDonald's drive through before going through LJS drive through for her own meal. This was almost 2 decades ago and I distinctly remember my friend complaining that no one likes LJS, and I remember the drive through being completely empty despite it being like 6 at night.
Last time I ate at LJS, I got food poisoning from a quite literally rancid french fry, and then a few months later, I overheard a stranger in a checkout line talking about how they also got food poisoning at the same LJS. I used to love their food, but I've sworn them off since then.
Well not all locations will be that way, just avoid that particular one. I've done that with a few places Sounds like a painful experience, that's awful
After eating there once as a child, I started thinking of Long John Silver's as the real life Chum Bucket, and I haven't been able to get that out of my mind since. Also, my Uncle genuinely likes LGS (the acronym used by only the realest fans). He's in poor health, but he might be their only surviving longtime fan.
The Long John's in my town got something that I've never seen before. After it's last Health inspection ....the building was literally torn down to the foundation because of the report being so bad and was never rebuilt. Oh, and the building wasn't even 15 years old, if not younger. I'm so glad I never ate there. I like Captain D's anyway
are you referring to "Denny's" when you say captian D? I have always been skeptical of Denny's in my town but always had a want to try it, but it seems as bad as LJS
Please remember that restaurants that utilize franchisees often can vary wildly in quality if the company managing the brand doesn't have high standards. This often turns out that said restaurants are bad quality at most locations with a couple regional franchisees that are higher in quality than the rest due to the franchise owner enforcing their own higher standards
Yeah I’ve had some really good and really bad fast food, all from the same chains, but different buildings. Like really good Burger King and really meh Burger King. Same for other restaurants
Which is weird because McDonald's is consistent throughout. I don't think I've ever been to a McDonald's where the quality of the food varied wildly it's always around the same level.
@@revolverocelot1380 It's cuz McDonalds has standardized ways to prepare each item. Working in one is almost like a machine with human gears, pumping out the exact same food on repeat through the company's exact same directions every time.
i actually enjoy long john silver's, but i'm pretty sure it's mostly nostalgic. used to be one right down the street from my house when i was a kid, and now the nearest one is like an hour away. not good enough to binge but in terms of fast food it's not too bad when compared to places like mcdonald's
