Exactly!! Bc sometimes they go in restaurants to award those who were clean & passed the inspection & they are welcomed in with open arms! They want that free advertising for their clean inspections!
I worked at a gas station/grill. The boss told me to point out food violations cause I've done food handlers training at least 12X. So I unleashed and just started pointing out every mistake, afterwards nothing was fixed and they tried to gaslight me into thinking that I was wrong and just nit picking. Handling cash then prepping food. Defrosting at room temp. Selling ice cream that fully melted for a day then refrozen. I didn't even bother with the small stuff, only the stuff that'll get you shutdown.
love how the guy with the rat problem was honest about the questions he was asked. It's less embarassing to actually be calm and cooperate sometimes then be mad in the moment
I have a lot of respect for the man who admitted he has a rat problem and the rat problem was then fixed. Knowing, his establishment was going to be castrated and has the balls to say so. Kudos, now, if only they could keep it clean...

Here's another true story. I drove taxi on weekends in a "major" Ontario, Canada city while attending college. I received a radio call to pick up a take out order at a Chinese restaurant. (It was a dump.) While waiting at the side kitchen door for the order, I observed 2 kitchen workers using a pail, situated right beside a crate of vegetables, as a urinal. Lots of "splashing" onto the vegetables. When done, they just "gave it a shake," zipped up and went back to cooking with hand washing. I left without the order and contacted my dispatcher who called the customer. I found out the following week that she was grateful I left without the order. p.s. The next Friday night, I was driving by that eatery and it was closed. The cab company had called the City Health Department. You never know. True story!
I worked for 45 years in the refrigeration industry and serviced commercial kitchens for a few years; that's when I stopped eating out. Most restaurant kitchens are horrifyingly filthy, with food you wouldn't serve your pigs. Budgets are so tight at restaurants that they will cut corners just to stay in business. The only spotless, immaculate kitchen I ever saw was in a Chinese Restaurant in Bedford, New Hampshire that made their money from the secret gaming rooms they had out back - they could afford to remain spotless so as not to attract attention to their real business.
“They’re cooking ground beef.” “Really that sounds delicious.” “No I mean they are literally cooking ground beef.” “Wait cooking on the ground?” “Yes.”
@@Jordan-sk9po so you're really thinking it wasn't intentional? the fact that the woman in the counter was obviously nervous what's going on after she asked to such inhumane act was a sign they have did that several times or maybe even more than we could expect🤷🏻♂️
@@cyyyyyuewalkers2205 no it’s intentional, I’m just saying it’s really stupid to use the ground when you have a kitchen to use for cutting which is much easier to prepare
As a Chinese, I can confirm that these practices are commonplace in China, but only so-called “Online Restaurants” use these methods. In China, we have delivery apps similar to DoorDash and Uber eats long before these two even existed, and people use these apps to make a restaurant that looks legit in the app but the “restaurant” does not exist If you really go to the address stated on the app, it will lead you to a dirty kitchen that violates so many rules that it would be shut down instantly and the owners would be placed behind bars if they are properly inspected using US standards
Meanwhile, I work in a meat department and follow health regulations closely, and treat people with respect, but got harassed today by a customer that I didn't follow rules and she was going to get me fired. Yet these people seem really rude and probably been having health code violations for a long time and got away with it, crazy.
My parents had a bug problem in the restaraunt but they knew they had to keep the customers healthy so they tried as hard as possible to get rid of them. Like bug spray, maybe some experts along to help get the problem out.
Also, I accidentally stepped on some food my dad was making. They were inside like a box on the ground so not completely touching the ground. And they had to throw it away because it’s now dirty. That’s why I know my parents keep there customers healthy.
There's this restaurant I used to work at called Sushi Kuni. Nobody wore gloves, everyone wiped dirty hands on aprons. I was the only employee who actually washed my hands and wore gloves when preping food. Nobody thanked me
@@riding4beers889 At least it be quality and such than what some people would cure their hunger than fast food or at other restaurants where it may cost a bit more than homemade w/ fresh, organic groceries by the week.
I’ve been doing pest control for 6 years and I’ve learned over the years that if you want to tell how clean the kitchen is, take a look at the bathroom. Why check the bathroom? It’s because Thats usually a good indicator on if you should eat there or not based on the cleanliness of the bathroom
As someone who works retail, I can say that this is only somewhat true. A lot of corporate stores that get visits from “higher ups” will only clean the floors and the bathroom in case of a surprise inspection. You want to check for real cleanliness…find something kinda heavy and move it to one side. See how much grime has collected. That shows you how diligently they clean
I find this very true. Long ago I used to work for a restaurant Let me tell you my boss would make me clean the bathroom every single day every 4 hours and we cleaned and scrubbed everything behind the ovens every single night no bullshit We would not leave until everything was clean, freshly washed, put away and mopped it was rough the serving or cooking it was the fucking cleaning 😂😂😂
As a restaurant owner- This is absolutely not true and let me explain simply why. Your bathroom cleanliness depends on two factors: Customer Flow and business of the staff. If you are slammed with customers and your staff are busy, the customers will ruin the bathroom until the flow has changed to allow an employee the opportunity to clean. Simply put- Customers aren’t allowed in the kitchen, so the bathroom has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the kitchen. If a bathroom is disgusting, you can more often then not blame the customers. If you want to tell if the kitchen is clean or not, look at an employee only area such as a server station.
@@KrasseOdaVonBayern The cleanliness of the bathroom should be top concerned as well, despite of the customers flow and business or the number of the staff, how famous or big is that restaurant is? the fact that you're considering the great number of customers flow, then they should be hiring another people responsible 'just for cleaning', you already mentioned that we should check the staff's server station, I'm just wondering how fast is the customers flow in these public restaurants, so you're saying we should just focus on the staff's server station.... and lastly, the fact that if these restos get many customers daily, then they should probably hire people responsible for sanitation, right? isn't that more convenient and right? and you're basically trying to indicate as well with your statement is, maybe they are short with producing money? so employees in their respective duties are limited??? Edit added: As well as if they are short with people or they get busier due to great customers flow, then hiring another 2-4 people responsible on cleaning/ sanitation won't hurt them, I just can't stop thinking how some people would take it as least priority or second to none, so they get right the restaurants objectives/targets.
There's a time to call the media fake news and there's not a time. This was just people lashing out for being called out. I actually worked in a restaurant that violated the health code. I quit, I didn't want to be responsible for possible hurting people.
I had a friend who called in his own store for a mice problem when they wouldn't do anything. They had shut down for six weeks and threw out 60k of product.

That New Hope restaurant is beyond nasty. He is cutting meat on the ground and it looks like there are cigarette butts down there. They probably also spit huge and nasty loogies down there because smoking makes you spit a lot.
I don't get what was going through their minds. Like you have a f*cking kitchen with industrial sized tables, fryers etc. How tf are you outside cutting meat ON THE GROUND?! It costs like $10 bucks for a flip up table and $7 to buy surface sanitizer ... Like good lord human laziness knows no bounds.
What a dumb comment. I know loads of people that smoke and not one of them just spits loogies all the time. Some people are disgusting, and some of them smoke. Doesn’t mean everyone that smokes is disgusting
It bothers me when I see employees touch things beside the food like money, phone, computer etc., and employees that aren’t working with food like a cashier touches things in the kitchen, and it makes me wonder how clean there hands are, because if you work with food, your hands need to be sterile

My husband and I grew up in the same hometown of Bolingbrook, IL. There was a Family style restaurant in town that's been there for decades. They usually had really good food and an awesome dessert case. However, the last time--and I mean literally, the last time we ate there, the dessert case was gone, and the quality of the food had plummeted. But what really sinched it for us was as we were waiting for our breakfast; we could view the area where servers/bus boys were wrapping silverware and filling baskets with rolls for lunch and dinner service. As we watched them, one of the guys filling baskets stuck his finger up his nose, fished around for several minutes and pulled out a gigantic booger. He then wiped it on his pants and instead of stopping and going to the restroom to wash his hands, he continued filling baskets (no gloves) with rolls. We couldn't eat the food when we came it came out after seeing that and complained to the hostess on duty. She was just as grossed out, comped our meals but said there was nothing she could do because the waiters were all the nephews of the owner. We thanked her for not making us pay but told her we would be informing the health department. The restaurant used to be really high quality and run by a nice Greek family. No idea what happened, we just know we'll never eat there again.

Thank you for showing us everything happens behind the kitchen. Without you guys we wouldn’t know whether the restaurant and food are sanitized enough to be there. Good work

I am Chinese and my parents have a Chinese restaurant they can’t stand this kind of behavior for our own food or food to serve. Cutting meat on the ground literally no reason for that, what’s the kitchen for? They’ve had some roaches and rats in the past it’s always either none or a couple and when they find them they’re always ready with things to get rid of them. You can literally buy the bug sprays/powder or mouse traps etc at the store or order them. If they get in trouble for violations the past x years would probably go down the drain so I don’t understand it’s not doing any good to anyone either. You’re restaurant owner with moldy food or rats you don’t have that impulse feeling to get rid of them? It’s just nasty and disgusting to see I don’t get how some people don’t bother to do something about it. I see a spider or bugs somehow get into my room I immediately try to catch it even if it takes me awhile, huge spiders and webs in the high ceilings of our house I tell my dad or something to get rid of it.
@@ggbooy8395 the restaurant has been running for over 20 years now, 6x a week my dad always leaves early in the morning to prepare and comes home 12-1am because he has to cleans everything that needs to be cleaned and prepare everything for the next day and they close at 9pm everyday after closing they cook and their eat dinner around 10pm. Added to my list! Several years ago, a man was walking down Spadina Avenue in Toronto's China Town one morning and saw, in the window of some "dump" of a Chinese restaurant, a huge rat sunning itself. He took a photo and it appeared in local (and I assume) national newspapers. The Health Department quickly shut it down.
This video was supposed to turn my stomach but I ended up laughing on the floor. Esp the bit with how many rats did he have. Oooooh, 10 to 15 sometime. Mmh hmm.
Since everyone’s posting their story’s I’ll post mine. So I was working at McDonalds when I was 16 and we were so swamped we had to call staff that were off that day to come in and even the franchise owner came in as well to help. It was lunchtime and the rush was INSANE and we literally had staff doing just one job. Like one person ONLY doing French fries one person ONLY making drinks (shakes/smoothies/Mcafee drinks) and my store manager had me just sweeping. I was sweeping the food area because there were spilled frozen fries all over the floor and the franchise owner starts yelling at me asking me what I’m doing and I’m scared cuz I’m thinking I did something wrong. He slightly pushes me aside and I shit you not starts picking up the frozen fries off the floor with his bare hands and starts putting them back into the fry hopper where we store the fries before we fry them. He even picked some older ones that were underneath the machine and put them in. I was just like “there’s no way that’s allowed” in my head but unfortunately I didn’t say shit.
that's true i have worked in some restaurants and fast food places some of the owners are so cheap, they make employees pick food from floor and few people refuse but mostly do it without hesitation like wtf. I refused to do and guess what i have been fired several times. That's the harsh reality.
Had a restaurant serve me chicken that had obviously gone bad and they tried to argue with us that nothing wrong until we challenged them to eat it themselves. We were frequent customers and after that incident no longer. Everyone make sure you advocate your health and safety!
I'm grateful for this kind of reporting. I'm from Houston Texas, and I grew up listening to Marvin Zindler.........he would really go after bad people, and there lack of responsibility concerning food handling.
There was an asian restaurant in our neighborhood. It was called Dynasty Buffet, it went out of business. A few days later I drove by and some of the sign had burnt out. It now said Nasty Buffet.

Have I got one to top ALL of these! I worked at a craft store as an Asst. Mgr for 4 years in a strip mall in my Tx town. Our fairly large store was at the right end (facing ) and next to our store was a VERY popular Chinese Restaurant that served a brisk lunch buffet trade to business people and mall employees from across the street. Our store shared a common wall with the restaurant and that wall was where we stocked our boxes model cars , planes etc. We also had a large garage door type frieght door that opened on to the road around back where our trucks unloaded, and our dumpsters sat for trash pickup after the curb there .. The restaurant also had their own dumpster located straight back from the restaurants regular back door othe other side of the curb too. In the middle of July, in W. Tx, it gets VERY hot, and by 12- 1 pm it is usually sweltering. When I came back from lunch that particular day My Manager had taken a delivery, and had left the large freight door open for the breeze to blow through a bit. I went to see the boxes and noticed several large 2ft x1&1/2 ft silver cookie sheet type aluminum trays propped up with one end slanted on the curb, catching the direct hot rays of the midday sun ... And with what was obviously some type of "meat " item laying on the 3 of them. I had to really do a double take to make sure I was seeing this right, since not 3 ft from behind where they were propped up on the curb sat the disgusting dumpster where they dumped their waste! Being the mid Summer time .. the infestation of flies was already massive around the food trash from the dumpster and the sight of thousands of flies crawling around on the meat on those trays blew my mind! I went to get my boss and he was equally incensed, and we wondered just what in the world reason they could have for drying meat out in the sun anyways.. then we got one if their menus we had and realized that they were drying ducks out in the sun to make "Peking Duck", since the menu stated they needed 24 hrs in advance notice to prepare it for you. We debated on what we should do for a few minutes, since we HAD both eaten there in the past ... I couldn't stand to know people were going to be eating this , unaware that their food had been left out for thousands of flies to crawl& poop on .. So my boss called the Health Dept /Inspector and told them the whole scene. It was no time, maybe 20 minutes, we heard his car squeal around the corner and stop where the tray were propped up there and saw him jump out and march over ..(with his hands on his hips and obviously P. O. 'd!) Right to their back screen door and gave them a dressing down like I never expected! He yelled, "Don't you EVER let me come by here and see this again! You Go get ALL of that up RIGHT NOW ! WHILE. IM STANDING HERE! PUT IT INTO A BOX AND THEN A TRASH BAG! AND INTO THE TRUNK OF MY CAR! And if I even have one more issue similar to this I will shut those doors down and close up this ace so fast you won't k ow what hit you!!!!" We were standing by the open freight door listening to all of this , with our jaws on the floor! Not that they didn't deserve it, and they sure were jumping and moving ! I was so glad he was a caring person who did his job well! And we just had thought the many roaches that showed up through our common wall sometimes were bad. They later built a small, shabby diy screened enclosure around the back door area.. I suppose for air drying the duck.... since it is part of the preparation method, but not teeming with bacteria and diseases!p1
That beef was not being cut for his own consumption. Also that other dude was saying 10-15 rats like “yeah no big deal” I don’t understand how someone could have this going on and think it’s in the least bit ok. If someone handed that dude beef that was prepped on the ground like that, he’d throw a fit
Add this one to your list. Decades ago, Toronto shops on Gerrard East near Broadview were clean, tidy and well managed. Then, Chinatown East moved in. Residents who lived on the surrounding streets starting complaining to the City Health Department about the garbage, rotting food, etc. on the sidewalks outside Chinese grocery stores and restaurants and the disgusting smell coming from these places overnight. It got so bad that the City had to come around at night, clean up the Chinese trash and steam clean the sidewalks. Disgusting.
I don’t like how “fake news” has become the catchphrase accusation to stand in for “This is embarrassing but I refuse to take accountability for my mistakes or those of the people I support.” 🙄
I STOPPED EATING ANYTHING THAT'S FAST FOOD. NO MORE CHINESE TAKE OUT OR HISPANIC TAKE OUT'S THAT I CAN'T SEE HOW THE FOOD IS BEING PREPARED OR HOW IT'S BEEN STORED. I EAT AT HOME AND I GO GROCERY SHOPPING INSTEAD. I PREPARE MY OWN FOOD.
Wonderful to know that some gourmet restaurants casually take your raw food outdoors, toss it on the ground and prepare it right there for your dining pleasure. Caveman stuff.
Seeing stuff like this makes me wanna cook my own meals at home more. I thought I was picky before now I’m even more picky after seeing this. Thank god for RU-vid and the food network.

At a young age of 17, I stopped trusting food restaurants that isn't known for proper food caring and sanitation, I seldom went out to eat food outside, it's not that I can't afford it, it's just because of humanoid like these who's taking advantage to many people, it literally looks like they have done that for many times or probably as long as when or how their restaurant has been serving people for many years.... because they doesn't even have any conscience of doing it, and it seems like they've added it to their routines end up doing it unconsciously like it just part of their business.... shame on these people like them. How I wish their resto couldn't be more successful by doing disgraceful act.
