JUDAS ISCARIOT is a very good USBM band. Akhenaten never tried to be mainstream or change the style.

Nice video! I'm a Heaven in Flames guy. "Before a Circle of Darkness" is just perfect. I often describe this band as "Meat and Potatoes" black metal. Darkthrone, Judas Iscariot, Katharsis, Clandestine Blaze, Vlad Tepes. But very high quality meat and potatoes. I have grown to love this style the most, practically, but when one of these bands goes outside the box a little bit, it tends to be my favorite. Solid stuff here, Rauta.

Thanx for the feature...he used to live in Germany and was my neighbour/mentor in the late 90s/early 2000s...I owe a lot to him...too bad he left the scene for good...

@@Baltimore_Hood_Vines_2014 The Tour was the North American Black Metal Invasion with Krieg, Godless North (where Förster played session guitar), Inquisition and Secrets of the Moon...I was on this tour as driver/bass player for Krieg...One week of pure UG Madness...later in 2002 him and me booked the Marching towards Christian Extermination Tour with Black Witchery, Armagedda (who dropped out in the middle of the tour, because one of them felt homesick, got replaced by Krieg), Manticore and Avenger (CZ)....the last thing before he dissapeared: we did a 10 days tour through Eastern Europe with Merrimack (F) and Krieg (Harris playing guitar on these dates)...after that he had some personal crisis and left Europe for good...funny detail: 3 years ago I met him at a Watain show in Eastern Germany...we had a hilarious night, but after that, sadly, he dissapeared again...

Akhenaton sometimes incorporates guitar riffs that, structurally at least, are more akin to death metal in accomplishing his particular brand of cold sounding black metal. And that to me is what sets Judas Iscariot apart from many other bands of the genre, particularly on the Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten EP (which is their best release imho). Heaven in Flames is their best LP; a USBM offering of epic Polish-style bm in the vein of Graveland and Fullmoon.

To Embrace The Corpses Bleeding is my favorite Judas Iscariot album too i think it's a masterpiece of an album and I really like the great drums and more aggressive but still cold and evil feeling. Also the theme of it being Vlad Tepes has always been a fascination of mine. But i think all of the albums are great it's basically just a point difference in some ways between them.

Very good guidance for the newcomers of the band! When you mentioned sloppy drumming, that reminded me of Mütiilation. They could be a good candidate for WtB video or classic review if you like the band. Cheers, have a good weekend!

Legendary american black metal! You have described their skinny raw sound very well, this is as much as true black, nowadays they are rare records with a similar sound but at the time they were on the agenda just mention the French les legiones noire, my favourit Album are Distant in Solitary Night, Heaven in Flames and the ep Detroned, Conquered and Forgotten . Thanks for talking about these columns of yours are very interesting. 🤘

great video ! i have all purchaseable releases. there's that worthiness and attitude in this band, especially when it comes to these rare fotos, interviews, live appearences, and of course that legendary disapperance with a big thumb down towards the scene. and that's even twenty years ago. imagine his disgust towards the nowadays mentality. he allegedly still makes music with a drummer from canada, i guess long-distance, one album a year, only to share between these two.

I thought that you'll include Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten EP, it's totally killer EP and you know, Judas Iscariot is one of these projects that you can listen his complete discography and never get tired of it, every single stuff from it is top.

Yeah, those EPs are killer, but as always with WTB vids, focus on albums. I know it would be neat to include EPs too but then it would just explode the amounts of releases in some cases, so it's better to just focus on the albums.

Heaven in Flames is surprisingly good for a JI release. Definitely worth checking out. Dethroned, Conquered, and Forgotten is pretty good, too. In my opinion the rest is very mediocre.

Anyone who diligently adore Judas Iscariot significant branded signature on atavistic black metal's hegemony , should also check out Cold Earth "Your Misery, My Triumph" yet nothing original here, but an sincerely acknowledgable, honorable, monumental tribute to Judas Iscariot, effectively evoking an similar resonance assemblage of mesmerizing vibrations !

Cool Witcher shirt, Jerry. I only have one album, but I really like it. Also, I'm a big Judas Iscariot fan. I can still remembet the first time I heard them, I hated it. I had not heard any raw or lo-fi black metal yet, so I didn't get it for a couple years.

As much as I do enjoy his work, I always found Judas Iscariot to be rather hit and miss dependent on my mood. One day something like Embrace the Corpses is the best thing that came from the USBM scene, the next day it may be Distant in Solitary Night. Then two days after that I hear Distant again and it sounds boring. Heaven in Flames should be the best, as the first three tracks back-to-back are some of the best stuff he ever did, then it just kind of unravels and gets a bit fluffy. Regardless I will say that aside from the albums the EPs were generally REALLY good. Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten and Moonlight Butchery are untouchable!

Judas is fucking killer and it is eternaly. Do you know Sarcophagus? he also had killer projects / bands ...i rather say he is a killer guitar riffer or fuckin memorable riffs for sure and rightful mindset ) that s it.

Of Great Eternity was my favorite of the bunch. Distant in Solitary night was my least favorite. I was not a big fan of the outro song on that one.

For me "To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding" is Judas Iscariot's best album. Another amazing USBM band is Winter Of Apokalypse. They only put out 2 albums, their "S/T" album (1998) and "Solitary Winter Night" (2004) but they are both way good. Though a short lived band, I'd argue they're even better than Judas Iscariot. Very raw, blistering cold black metal.

Can you please react to 👉the lady of heaven trailer? The movie was shown in AMC Theaters in the US and it had a very long and successful run there. The next move most likely is for it to be shown in other countries and soon after that it will have a worldwide release via movie streaming platforms ❤️😃
