Umpires missed a blatant throw by Rankine which led to a Walker goal in that Pies vs Crows game, so the Dawson decision shouldn't have had any impact on the result
Robbie Gray took a mark and wasn't given a full 30 seconds to take his set shot (i think it was 15 seconds in the end) the umpire called play on and cheated port out of a win that day.
My Dad has physio that works for Carlton as a trainer. After the game he asked Caleb Marchbank if the ball had touched him and Marchbank responded by saying “ it touched my hand so clearly in nearly even touched my leg”. So to answer your question it was touched and the goal umpire was right.
4:12 This was an excellent umpiring decision, to be under so much pressure to make the correct call in a crunch final but still get the call right is a rare umpire W. They say there wasn’t sufficient evidence that the kick was a behind when there actually bloody was, I’ve played it back multiple times and if the goalpost were a bit taller then the ball would’ve crashed into it making it a behind. How should it be paid any different just because the goalpost wasn’t tall enough? Richmond fans have probably let this go by now but it truly was the correct call
As someone who was at the 2023 grand final. There was absolutely no way the players could have heard that tripping call. It was super loud, probably why he played on. There still wasn’t a guarantee that they would have won that game but it would have been a helpful inside 50 kick. I think that it makes up for earlier in the game when Bailey got a goal for entering Mason Cox protected zone, that should have been 50 which would mean Brisbane would still be down by 2 goals at the full time siren. If their not calling the Cox moment a 50 I see no issue with Bailey playing on not being brought back.
The advantage rule says that when called advantage, it doesn’t need to be recalled if it doesn’t actually give advantage. It’s a dumb rule especially given that it was super loud from what I heard. So Collingwood won fair and square, and I’m a Lions fan.
We need to talk about all of the non high tackles against Collingwood vs GWS in the 2023 prelim that were *clearly* there, and compare them to all the high calls Nick Daicos got in the 2023 GF for dropping the knees/shoulder
4:43 its a behind and can be proven with simple maths. the ball is seen directly over the goal post from mutliple angle, meaning if the post was taller, than the ball wouldve hit the post
In the 2009 grand final between St. Kilda and Geelong, Tom Hawkins snapped at goal and was awarded 6 points. Upon replay, the ball can be very clearly seen striking the post and changing direction yet it was called a goal. The ball-up that occurred gave Geelong a second goal giving them 11 extra points meaning that the final margin should've only been a point. Had the call been made correctly, the Cats would've led by a point, and under that sort of pressure, I'm pretty confident Geelong would've had to give and make a mistake. In my opinion, St Kilda should've won that Premiership.
Nice video. This is the second in the series and while all the incidents highlighted are indeed dreadful decisions, the reality is you could probably make several hundred of these with equally bad umpiring blunders.
i agree but the advantage call was probably right until he kicked it into the fifty. should of been high and should of been downfield as he had already kicked it
It doesn't matter whether a team gains an advantage from playing on from a free kick. The reason we have the advantage rule after a free kick, is if a team deems that (in this example) a kick inside 50 is more advantageous than taking the freekick. Unfortunately, in the grand final's instance, there was plenty of time after the whistle was blown, and I guarantee that he heard the whistle as he was meters away (especially considering thousands of supporters heard it), just may not have registered to well in his head. Even if the free kick was paid, it would've had to have been a 60 metre kick from Lachie Neale, or an inside 50 against Collingwood's really strong defense. Just putting some words to some Brisbane supporters that think this one call "lost them the game"
worst decicion has to be dom sheed from the boundary in 2018, should have been play on but it wasnt, plus rioli did an illegal shepard on maynard the same exact play
as a brisbane supporter i hate the umpire that called it advantage like lachie would’ve kicked that goal or kicked in to the square and someone would’ve marked it then brisbane would’ve won
The Carlton v GWS one was it was the ruling at the time and as a Carlton supporter, i don't like this rule but if you have to enforce such a rule, the umpire was 100% correct. plus there has been legitimate proof that the ball was touched for the Melbourne V Carlton game
you need to remember that sometimes the umpire has deemed it as no prior meaning aslong as they attempt to hit the ball it should be play on. If the umpire deems the player as having prior they have to dispose of it correctly
The 2016 Grand Final was abhorrent umpiring after half time if you are Swans fan. Worst umpiring ive ever seen was the Anzac Day game when Nathan Buckley mistakenly thought the crowd were booing Scott Pendlebury when he went up to collect the medal. That Leigh Colbert decision was a disgrace. Malceski deliberate rushed behind against the Blues in 2013 - a decision so terrible it's funny.
Mate i hate to be the one to point it out but Nathan Buckley accusing the crowd of booing Pendlebury was not umpiring. The umpire didn’t come out of nowhere and say “Crowd dissent follow me please 🤓“ The umpire actually isn’t relevant here except for the fact that Pendlebury deservedly won the ANZAC Medal. Don’t know what point you were trying to make by bringing that up.
@@musiceditz23 the crowd didn't stop booing because Collingwood won the game and the medal. The fact that Bombers fans stayed back after the game during the presentation showed how outraged they were.
@@melthoidserendipity1332 They were outraged because the team that won deserved it more? That’s pathetic sure the umpire was shit but that game wasn’t actually affected by it the Dons were ass
It's the one's that keep getting given against a side doing everything right to get back into it , only to be crucified by consistently bad one sided decisions that beat the oppersition , umpires , it's breaking one teams heart with constant poor decisions ,
And I’m a huge AFL fan so I don’t really play favorites, I have no one team I root for, but I thought at the time I watched this years grand final that the Lions should not have had advantage paid on that kick late in the game. Not sure what the umpire that the advantage was.
Highlights the advantage call, yet forgets to mention the incorrect 50m against Markov or Bailey encroaching the mark against Cox. Two incorrect calls that handed Brisbane two extra goals…
We like to talk about the advantage in this years granny but Collingwood were absolutley stiffed of a few calls, with the Mason Cox free and the Markov 50m penalty
Don’t bother. No one wants to discuss this as it doesn’t fit their anti Collingwood narrative. Notice that they flat out ignore the comments discussing this point? Yet are quick to talk about the advantage call (that wasn’t even guaranteed to result in a goal anyway)
I don't know what was on part 1, but Cam Zurhaar getting pinged for deliberately kicking it out of bounds when he was kicking it towards his own goals makes zero sense.
free kick to luke shuey in the elimination final against port, after the siren in extra time. Rat ducked into it and shrugged it up around his neck after first contact was around his chest. Cost port the game and probably a premiership.
Bro, have you even seen a rule book? Apart from the incredible Cats running mark and two goal umpire calls, the rest are dubious at worst. Hardly the ‘worst of all time’. That 50 against the Tigers was NOT the umpire making a bad call, the AFL writes the rules not the field umpires. They are league employees and follow what the directors instructions. Expect to see that rule change for 2024.
Try watching American football. Holding, pass interference and roughing the quarterback are three things that are highly contested every game. I would say there are 30-40 questionable calls every weekend.
In the 2023 preliminary Final between Collingwood and GWS. With less than a minute to go for the game Nic Daicos grabbed Toby Greene around the neck and held by the neck for at least 30 seconds in plain sight of two umpires. To the that he was chocking and the umpires were yelling play on. Needless to say if that was any other player, the free would have been paid. From memory it was right on the fifty.
You forgot the one on the same Adelaide vs Collingwood game at the MCG where daicos CONVINCED the umpires to pay a downfield and 50m penalty yet the same thing happened to Adelaide not long before and their free kick was brought back
Not Hearing the umpires whistle is no excuse because Oleg had got paid a 50m penalty against him for not standing and he could not hear the umpire this ended up lead to a goal for Brisbane.
So you mention the crows not getting a free at the end of the game but fail to mention the worst quarter of umpiring this season in the first crows v pies game. Murphy smashed in face as he was about to take a mark. No mark, no free but is bleeding. Then he is being taken off by the trainers but play doesn’t stop. De Goey kicks the ball away from Murphy and trainers to avoid a collision and is penalised for deliberate! Johnson then tackled round head as he is in the goal square but play on! Seriously take off the Collingwood bias and call a spade a spade. It might give your vid some credibility
The last one didn’t mean anything, bringing back the kick to Neale just allows Collingwood to set up. Plus 1 minute earlier a Mcluggage out of bounds resulted in a Daniher goal.
they should’ve had the opportunity to kick inside 50 and win the game, that’s the problem, we all know who matt stevic wanted to win the game anyway so it doesn’t surprise me
@@jesser5872 should not have even been in the position for this play to make a difference because previous goal should have been a ball in on the wing.
Brisbane got a goal from a 50 meters against Markov for no reason and when the smother Mason Cox in the protected area and was no 50m, had the umpire made all the correct decisions Collingwood definitely still would of won
@@blackmoon34785don’t bother, mate. Doesn’t fit their narrative. Brisbane handed two gift goals from those two calls, yet they’re busy crying about the advantage call, 65m out 😂
The Lynch behind was the correct decision. Hardly the worst umpiring decision. I watched that game in higher resolution than you are showing here and it was a behind.
Again opinion based on nothing. Knowledge of the rules and grey area interpretations would go along way to being fair rather than being opinion based on other opinions
